How far into it did you get, out of curiosity? The first time I watched it i thought it was lame too actually, but I needed something to watch recently and I settled on it. After watching the mini-series and first two episodes I was hooked. Stargate SG1 is pretty good too though.

I'm not sure where I was in the series. I know that some of the robots had infiltrated the humans. One even set off a nuke that destroyed one of the human ships.
Then they changed presidency and found a planet they could colonize on which most of the population went onto the planet with the ships having less than a skeleton crew. Unfortunatly the robots found the planet and while the ships managed to escape with a limited crew the population on the planet was captured from what I saw.
Thats as much as I remember since it's been a while since I last saw it. I did see a few other episodes but I dont remember them too clearly.
Once I get what I want in SG-1 I'm gonna move to smallville and supernatural. I so can't wait for the 27th.

Whoah, way farther than I am! hehe.
Try watching the first three episodes and see if you like it, it's a bit easier to get into.

BSG is an awsome show. The last season was a bit slow though.

BSG has become extremely overrated in my opinion. The first and second seasons had some really good stuff going for them, but when they hit a filler episode... well 90% of the fillers are horribly done and Season 3 had way too much filler. A few of the characters became really faulty when it comes to their consistency - the President being one of them along with the Cylons as a whole. Season 3 started really well and ended on a very strong note, part of the reveal had ties to pretty much the entire series if you look back. I have high hopes for the final season just because they wont have time to **** around. --------

Heh... watching BSG is what I've been doing the last 2 weeks as well. Season 2 is brilliant, especially the Pegasus storylines. Admiral Cain scared the bejebus out of me

BSG is the only series ive ever deemed worthy to actually buy all the DVDs, and although i admit it took abit of a downer in season 3 its still one of the greatest Sci-fi shows created, oh and if you liked Peguses and Admiral. Cain just wait for the November special

I'm jealous of you people starting it from scratch. The first two seasons especially are awesome.
I thought the last season kind of dragged and the cliff hanger was like "What can we possibly do to up the ante now? Oh, I know..." but overall it's a great show.

When I first heard about BSG being remade I thought: Wow, taking a sub-par 70's TV show and remaking it, they must really be out of ideas. Then I recently watched the first 2 episodes (mini-series) and I liked it right away. Later on next month I plan on getting the dvd set. The show is really top notch and not corny at all like the 70's series.
And I never got into the Stargate series until I started watching it streamed on winamp recently and it's pretty good.

Weren't all 70's series corny to the max?

with BSG my wife makes me watch it. there is a couple of aspects to it that i just don't like.
the wobbling pseudo documentary camera style was amusing for the movie but after that it annoyed me. The scientist is megalomaniacal paraniod schizophrenic who betrays humanity (cos thats what scientists do). The apocryphal godliness of it all. The thick layers of soap opera that goes for character interaction makes me nauseous. The slipping of entire episodes in that have no mention of the main story arc.
That being said, by the end of the third season i kinda forgave it all and am looking forward to season 4.

comming from a huge B5 fan B5 is better than BSG.
the politics in BSG just isn't on the same scale. the apocryphal stuff in B5 is no where near as overwhelming and has less of a spiritual faith based aspect and more of a closed time loop and psionic aspect. Seasons 2 through 4 in B5 have no filler episodes, all of them are the ramp to the war between chaos and order and finish with the human civil war. BSG is a journey and a quest, but often has an episode where there is absolutely no content that refers to the main story arcs. i find the quest plot dead boring as it is simple horror movie stuff, people hget hothoused and turn on each other until bam, its over, the quest is done.
that in BSG one of the main characters is a delusional megalomaniacal scientist with an illusionary sexy robot muse just gets my goat.
there is only one scene so far in BSG that i actually respected the script, and that was Lee Odama's speech in the trial (i will say no more due to spoilers). none of the characters in BSG realy grab me either, whereas in B5, the story and interaction between G'Kar and Londo still brings a sense of both tragedy and comedy to my mind, mainly tragedy though, the pain they represent to each other is heartbreaking.
but then i also can't stand and have an active loathing of stargate and many people love that. everyone likes different things.
i absolutely can't wait for heroes.
