Accessible to the masses and quite mainstream, but still pretty good stuff for those of us with more discerning tastes. Don't get me wrong, I love Halo. I think it's got one of the best backstories for a console game period. Every time a Halo game comes out my friend gets it, and we both sit down and beat it in one sitting on co-op mode. It's fun and relatively challenging without being tedium. coughRainbowSixcough I just hate Halo players deep down to the core of my shriveled black heart. They make CS kiddies look cultured and erudite. The one video trailer with the German guy had me laughing until I was crying, b/c it was so spot-on. Who honestly enjoys getting verbally abused by a 12 year old kid who's on the other side of the globe?

Just continue to butcher them over and over and never say a word, regardless of how much they bait you. CS kiddies go from 0 to "HAXX!!1 HEADSHOT SCRIPT!!111 /kickban" in about 3 minutes.

As others pointed out, it was the first fps on a console that didn't suck after a long time. Everybody believed that only pc could provide a good, fun FPS. Well I still believe it because i'll never get used to an fps with a controller. WASD+mouse forever.

Trying to make a desperate last stand with your friends in PD against a mix of darkbots and peacebots was FTW. Dukebots on DN 64 had horrible AI and you could only have a limited number of them based on how many human players were playing but once they got some explosive shells you were in a world of hurt. Unable to unanchor batteries? Dont dispair, it's not a bug its a feature

Halo has a good balance between arcade and 'realistic' combat. a good dynamic that lends an adrenaline boost to combat: this is mainly formed by the golden triangle of guns, nades and melee.
