Edited by: Popsikle on 24/09/2007 23:35:41 Edited by: Popsikle on 24/09/2007 23:35:22 So Ive been AFG for a while now, mostly planning IRL **** like a wedding a such whatever, doesnt matter really. I came back to check on how the Great War or whatever you hippies are calling it now to see alot of Goons screaming and yelling about how bad BoB are loosing. Im not going to lie, I was surprised to see this and just checked the territorial maps...
Bob havent lost any space they didn't own at the start of this war so it doesnt really look like much of anything has really changed on the fronts... Most of the old north (except FLA) have moved back into the north as well, so really, this war is how old now and nothings really changed has it? Are all the "omg bob are loosing" posts just forum posturing, or is there something the territorial maps are missing.
I might not be too much smarter then the rocks outside my house, but I just dont see what all the doomsday posters are posting about. Someone wanna point me in the right direction because the way I see it this war is really just a bunch of forum posturing without anyone on EITHER SIDE actually taking space. I know LV/-V- died but that was bound to happen well before BoB stepped in, so I think everyone already counted that space as belonging to RA. Also, is where are RA's pots on the forums, havent seen any classic red posts recently ;(
Please make a quick post to tell me whats going on in the war, as I R 2 NUB to see it. ____ <t20> i want to be in a manager potition at Hooters <SaraDawn> Garthagk, do you have it up ? <Garthagk> I can get it up anytime. |

Territorial map hasn't been updated in about a month. As for the war, I know BoB lost 66- and some other important little systems, but as of late it seems they've been making a wee bit of a comeback. Not sure whether that's going to last or fade again, seeing as that everyone's all "carrier blob fighters lagspoit spam" about the recent fleet battles. Other than that, well, all I can say is that this war isn't going to end anytime within the year, with the way things are going.

Use the influence map, not the territorial map...
The BoBtrain pretty much stopped in Tenerifis and the fight is currently occurring in Feythabolis. Lots of explosions on both sides. Most recently, a lot on the Goon side.

Edited by: Maraude Fury on 24/09/2007 23:58:41 It's like any war.
One grou pushed so far forward, then they were pushed back. As supply lines get longer and longer, each side runs into supply troubles.
But the honest truth is that the majority of people on each side are in this for the pew pew.
Some good epic battles have been fought, some epic lag battles have been lost(Becuase we ALL know the Servers win all lag battles.) Billions upon billions of isk have been lost. Many have stated that they are winning, and the opposition looseing.
But until one side breaks the will of the other, things will just grind back and fourth in the south. it's been like this for a long time, and will continue for a long time.
It's why most of us play the game :)

Which station systems? If you guys took back space they took from you, it kinda shows me what I thought, the war isnt going anywhere anytime soon (tm) as nobody can really manage to push anyone back for any significant amount of space/time. But thanks for the caps lock response, I feel honored. ____ <t20> i want to be in a manager potition at Hooters <SaraDawn> Garthagk, do you have it up ? <Garthagk> I can get it up anytime. |

this is pretty much the official posturing venue and as such has little impact upon actual gameplay. that out of the way, i think the best way to look at the conflict is through considering each side's goal and reason for fighting. The war began as an all-out crusade for total domination of all 0.0 space between bob - at the time a hand-picked grouping of jaded veteran pvp pilots and corporations and lv - another pvp powerhouse controlling vast swaths of space all the way to RA borders. They already had a grouping of tenants to hold down the fort, provided logistical support and paid rent for the privelege.
Then you must consider their opponents, most of whom were fighting amongst themselves at the start of the war. If you look at the alliances representing the 'greater bob community', they are proven veteran outfits. Certainly it should not take them nearly a year to crush the people they frequently described as 'already defeated' In fact, withdrawing from a particular opponent they deny the existence of became a pinnacle of irony.
The coalition's goal at the outset, despite gushing bravado, has mostly been 'not fall over and die really fast', and i think they've done a half-decent job of it. Certainly a better one than bob did in declaring jihad against the universe.
What i mean to say is that although we aren't dining in NOL, we're not paying rent either.

/emote has been out of the game for nearly 5 months now, reactivated Nezzy a couple of days ago.. just for kicks and giggles.
The last time I posted on EVE-O forums, was around the time of the big F-T dreadnought catastrophe when the coalition lost 50 dreads in an evening or something like that, where a BoB titan in gestation was not killed.
Anyways... things haven't changed with the 'rapetrain' much except that the north is no longer involved in actively attacking BoB in the south.
Seems to me that BoB is no worse off than they were 5 months ago.
All in all the OP has a point imho.

well with that logic you could say that since bob started with nothing they could never really lose anything that they didn't start with.
If you take the date of the official no brakes tour. As in when most went against bob (right after Stardate - T:20) you would notice a lot of bob and bob pet loss of space. Its all about when you start the clock for the war. -

You know in Winter 1944 Germany had more territories than it had at the beginning of the war, but still no one would bet a dime on it. Sure, BOB hasn't lost much from the beginning, but Rise and Corm are in a bad shape and probably won't be able to hold their space for much longer.

AAA, RA, IAC, D2, IRON, FLA, MM, Razor, UNL, Goons, and the list goes on until you reach some 40k players at the start of the conflict. so, their goal was to 'not fall over and die really fast'... okay.
this fascinating insight into how to spin was brought to you by non other than people who killed all and anyone, including so called friends, that tried to enter bugged angel plexes.
"friendship" is a very convenient word. easily thrown around and as easily broken later, when its more convenient.

BOB and allies has lost ground in none of its original systems but due to being over stretched they have lost a few systems in out lying districts. Now though they are closer to home and more consolidated we are seeing stiffer resistance.
Also the fact that GOON are once again screaming for nerfs, now on fighter drones (previously on titans) as BOB/allies are using these fighter drones to counter the lag bomb blobs GOON are still using to swamp more skilled enemies.
So as per usual BOB/allies come up with a skilled way to stop GOON and its lemming like tactics and GOON counters by screaming for a nerf instead of actualy trying to out think or skilfuly counter ingame BOB's tactics.
GOON are also bringing a lot of noob ships and shuttles to aid in lagging out BOBS forces this says a lot about how covering the space they took is causing them problems with attendance and quality ship types in there large fleet operations.
The fighting in the north also seems to have stalled but wheter this is due to the lul before the storm mentality or just a non-pos war nap i heard about a few weeks ago im not totaly sure.
