Trying different fitting for some shield tanking on my minmatar battlecruiser...
Whats better for overall greater shield tanking?
running, 2x Large Shiled boosters and 2x Capp Injectors (w/800) and 1x Shield extender
or
1x Em shield hardener (T1 as onyl have TSM training to lvl 1) 1x Heat shield hardener 1x Exp shield hardener 1x Kin shield hardener 1x Shield Booster or 1x Shield Extender
thx in advance :-)

It depends on which bc you are flying if it is the cyc then i would sugets 1 large shield booster and a shield booster ammplifier then tank specific with hardners, and one cap booster in your mids. If you are flying a cain then i would suggest you armor tank that one it is better off with an armor rtank for it has more low slots the mids. the cyc also hav pluses to yu shield tanking and the cyc dosen't. Space is big really big. |

On my Cyclone which I used for Mission running I used this:-
1xAfterburner 1xLarge Shield Booster ( best named ) 2xEnemy Specific Shield Hardener 1xEnemy Specific Shield Resistance Amplifier
So for running against Sansha ( EM/Thermal damage ) I would have a Thermal Hardener, an EM hardener and a EM resistance amplifier.
Avoid Extenders if you are active tanking. If you are active tanking, shield boosters are generally a little bit better than invulnerability shields, if you have the cap to have your booster on most of the time. Specific Hardeners are very worthwhile.
Cap injectors are only any good for short battles so they are poor in missions, but may be okay for ratting or PvP provided you have somewhere close by to restock.
Shield extenders are really for passive tanking, I wouldn't mix them with boosters if you can use resistance instead. I can't see the point of running 2 oversized boosters unless I had infinite capacitor ( from a Logistics ship perhaps ).
Of the 2 setups the second one is the most sensible, although I rarely put a Exp shield Hardener on my shields.
I run this kind of stuff in EFT to check what is better. But really it depends what you are fighting.

Never run 2 large boosters. Run 1 XL insteas. Also, use amps.

Cap use for 2 large boosters is exceedingly more than 1 XL. Go to the XL, fit a boost amplifier, and enjoy -

This is a fairly comprehensive guide to all matters re: Tanking.

No, its not. It's exactly the same shield/cap. You get the same shield/cap, but with an XL, you can use a shield boost amp, which will make it more efficient and use up the slot of that second large booster. That's why it's pointless to waste an extra midslot on two boosters when the second could be used for a boost amp/cap recharger/hardener/etc.

Edited by: Tha Pusher on 26/09/2007 20:24:57 You should also keep in mind that its wise to tank your ship for different purposes. Have a tank setup you use for ratting, or missions, and another setup for PvP. For missions and ratting i usually go for the resist tank, less HP and no boosters, but PDU's and resist mods keep my shields above 85% almost constantly, even while tanking multiple BS's during big missions. But in most PvP circumstances, you may wanna drop some of your passive rechargers for BCU's (well, thats for me at least, w/ missiles but u get the idea), pump in as many HP's as you can, and get a booster w/ an amp, sometimes 2 amps if u can fit it well.
