hi
there is a guy named chi.
he is from china.
now he does not have much education, because he was born into poverty.
but what he has is a family.
1 cute little girl named lucy.
as his job he farms isks on EvE. it does not pay very well but it is better than nothing.
BAM then oveur came along and said its over. its fully his right to do so. and the EvE community loves it.
but now little girl starves to death.

Nice story, doesn't make a lot of sense though.
Is this some silly way to get people to say things you want to hear?
btw, besides the rest of the nonsensical points of your story, why wouldn't "Chi" go and find another job instead of watching from the sidelines while CCP kills his daughter as you so eloquently put it? Not really all that hard in China at the moment you know.

Just maybe he should not have spent then entire gross income of his village to buy the computer/internet connection and electricity to be an isk farmer in EVE.
Suggestion - sell the computer, use the electricity to light and warm a place to work doing something that pays better. Be a responsible parent and buy his child food and clothing. That is if he can get over his Internet game addiction.

I assume everyone who complains about sweatshop labour isk farmers buys ethically sourced clothing and food?
oh, they don't?
Much of the third world is built around providing the Developed nations with 'cheap stuffs', that someone is farming computer game currency to sell is just proof of how lucky you are. Give them a break you internet toughguys, they are doing what they to simply improve their standard of living; instead, perhaps, blame the players who buy this currency. Know someone who buys currency? laugh at them, shame them. Know someone circumventing the entire risk Vs reward of EvE by selling oodles of GTCs? laugh at them, shame them.
In every online game there's this voice of 'OMFG kill the farmer bots!!', but always, much queiter, is the person suggesting, "hey, let's blame the tards that buy the currency and skew the game for the rest of us".

I used to enjoy griefing the farmers cause I knew there was a chance I could make children starve.
Only in eve do I get to do something like that (without being arrested for child abuse).

Well, CCP could make special 'learning missions', allowing the farmers to take and complete educational courses online for the reward of isk for such people.
Would not reduce the isk inflow from farmers, but would tech them valuable skills instead of numbing their minds by repeating the same actions over and over again.

China is not the country where work is most difficult to get these days. Now, if it had been in Africa, now then I MIGHT have understood it, since work is almost non existent there, and with 80% unemployment in many of its countries. China however is a growing nation with high demand for more work force.
Anyway. Its against the rules of EVE. byeee. booom. ban. The ISK seller will be banned.

The bastards cloak and log upon your entry....
They gang up with other sweatshop workers to gank you.
Their operations rival that of the major alliances, which they belong to these days.
It boils down to the major alliances cleaning up their acts. (HINT there IAC)

Whilst I don't give a figs nuts about the isk farmer, no matter which country they come from; I have always wondered why the isk buyer is never the target for the hatred. Take away the buyers and you no longer have a farmer.
I guess Mark Jacobs, vice president at Electronic Arts and creator of the classic M.M.O. Dark Age of Camelot; got it right. “Are you going to get more sympathy from busting 50,000 Chinese farmers or from busting 10,000 Americans that are buying?

How do they wreck ingame-economy? By doing something everybody else could also do? The only difference between them and a player-farmer is, that their wealth is transferred to another player for RL-money. RL-money is not part of the system, so it has no effect.
So, its just the same as if you would wire your friend some ISK for no RL-reward.
Its CCPs crappy ISL-source to ISK-sink relation, that wrecks the ingame economy.
And (oh, no, I did not buy any ISK) I don't have any problem with ISK-sellers or ISK-buyers. Its all about enviousness.
PS: I want all want to have all players who have faster computer-hardware than me have their clients slowed down. Its unfair that they can spend more money on hardware than me and therefore have a better game-experience.

I think the real objection people have is to competing with people who have an MMO as their first job.
For most players it's a second "job".
And it is a "job" because time = money/success.
What that says about our concept of fun, I do not know.

I take great pleasure in killing off isk farmers everywhere I go. It is a shame that they run away from the first sign of someone in local flying an ibis of doom or a harmless ship only to log soon after. The best part is when they bring friends to come kill you, that is a perfect opportunity to call in a few friends of your own to ruin their fun. It's also great when they logoff, fire a probe away, warp to result and kill them in one min or less (unless they log with aggro). Good enough to steal away all their rice and free ravens in deep safe spots :)
