Somehow I have the feeling that the Eve-Universe is quite overpopulated.
Almost everywhere on the map you see several people. The jumps in the last hour show you that almost every system was visited in the last hour.
I would like to get the feeling back that the Universe is huge. That there is always something new that no one has seen before (in the last 23h ;-)).
I even think doubling the 0.0 systems would not make a big difference.

I'm all for it. Thanks to WTZ and everyone and their dog flying some nanocruiser (ishtar, curse, vagabond, zealot/sacrelige) HAC roaming gangs are a little too quicke now.
I remember if you wanted to get around fast you flew inty/af or a vagabond. What's the point of Minmatar Cruiser V for HACs now when you can just get Gallente Cruiser V and do way more DPS in an Ishtar and align just as fast.
But yeah, MOAR SPACE PLZ.

Limited resources, space, minerals etc is what gets people fighting. Violence drives the economy.
Most people play Eve to shoot other people, normally for resources. Or they play to build stuff, mostly weapons, which they sell to the first group.
We are just getting to the part where things get interesting.

What he said. Look at the wars breaking out all over Eve. How do you think they replace these losses?

Most of 0.0 is still underutilised... and why is it a bad thing that you get more than one several in every system? It's an MMO. More targets

I want there to be a couple more NPC sov regions with easier empire access... kind of a half-way house between 0.0 and lo-sec.

Adding to the edges of the existing 0.0 regions could do interesting things to the borders out there, luckily there's no really reason why they couldn't utilise the depth axis on the map and surround empire with low sec above and below aswell as around the sides. Of course referring to parts of the map as noth/south would get difficult.
If they made traveling more difficult would that achieve much the same thing or would it make logistics so painfull that much of the existing infrastructure would collapse/ just casue people to whine becasue they only percieve the extra time involved but no extra distance?
As space fills up is the expectation of new space opening up a reasonable one or should we be using this as a driving force for war?
Is it's not fair to the little guy even a valid argument given the ever present wars in 0.0?
Will batman escape the jokers dastardly clutches and foil the fiendish formulae of this menacing madman?

Nah , competition for space is good. Higher player density = less time to safely farm rats in 0.0 and more predators for miners / ratters / mission runners.

I'd like to see low sec just made a bit more profitable. Right now people either grind missions in high sec or go to 0.0. I live in low sec and it's bloody quiet, some days I nearly have to mine my own minerals to make ammo.
Where did all the low-sec miners go?

The problem is though, that EVE is so small that everyone and their grandmothers jumps in to help buddies, making it a gigantic blobfest. Making EVE larger, could spread the players out more, and perhaps could help local counts of 3-500+.
Now ofcourse there are game mechanics that are encouraging blobs, like warp bridges, POS warfare as we know it. However making the game bigger could possibly help spread out the population, a population that CCP wants to be over 300.000 as the next goal.
Obviously it has it's downsides aswell, but at the moment, as a potential 0.0 pilot/corp member, you will end up being Pro-BoB or Pro-RaGoon as it is right now. Would be great to have some areas where those who are not really caring about this conflict could fight out their own battles. Ofcourse, if new regions will be "free" of current politics between the big guns is debateable. Drone region certainly didn't.

I don't think blobs are to do with the amount of space available. Increase the space and you just have larger gaps between the blobs.
The rest I agree with. In time we will need more space but that time is not now. Maybe after the great war has been decided or after faction warfare has run for a time. Then again who knows what will happen. Most large powerblocs turn on themselves once they have nothing left to prey on.
I reckon it could be interesting to see how things go in the fishbowl for a bit longer.

I think space is becoming, slightly exactly ok regarding pilots.
It used to be soooo lonely, now i can see a couple of ships even.
At the current state, it's about 5 people/system, so, not too bad.

There's a LOT of Empty space. Especially in 0.0, but also in Low Sec.
I flew through 20 jumps of low sec from Ouletta to Amamake the other day looking for a pirate to fight and never saw a soul until I got next to Amamake (where I got splattered by 14 CWA!).
People appear to be acting like sheep.

Edited by: Condecinte on 30/09/2007 13:38:22 I think there is actually enough space as it is, its just that people are refusing to spread out. Everybody says high sec empire is packed to the gills but this is only true of caldari/minmatar space and a few other mission hubs.
Moving to low sec is fine if you don't mind making all your isk by blowing up more -10 guys than manage to blow you up, good luck doing anything else there. I'm not saying its impossible to do anything else there but you will be chased until your hair turns grey. More trouble than its worth is what I mean.
0.0 seems to be very empty, i'm no 0.0 expert but looking at the map I reckon you guys have it pretty good. Thats only if you like lots of empty systems of course.

I would love to see low-sec on the far outskirts of 0.0 or something out there to head to with multiple entrances to and from 0.0... No, I don't want carebear land on the other side of the bob empire... but a resource rich region way out there without the dangers of 0.0 bubbles might increase traffic across if not increase the amount of players in 0.0.
And I fail at typing coherently... so if you understood that, my hat is off to you ____________________ Hi. I'm not an alt :) |

Why mine in lo-sec when you can mine in 0.0..?
I absolutely agree with you that there ought to be some specific reason to go in to lo-sec.

Increase space? why? Not like they'd add anything new.
I'd much rather they change the current systems to add some variety to eve. Right now all the systems are the same, more or less. X amount of planets, X amount of belts, and a little variation in ore and rat type. And that's it
If the various regions were vastly different, it would drastically change the eve world for the better imho.

problem is, unless your corp joins some huuuuuge alliance (which implies their conditions and all that politic bull****) you'll never see 0.0 good enough.
ergo, those corps who want to be on their own... will not leave high/lowsec except for a few explaoration runs or casual pvp at the borders.

What about hgh sec space in the middle of some random 0.0 area, so to travel from one end of empire to another u have to go via 0.0,would be fun , lawless space.

Its true there is a lot of empty space, but the question to ask is if there is any empty USEFUL space, and the answer to that is 'No'.
The sad fact is that the majority of 0.0 space (and all of low-sec), simply can't measure up to the profitability of high-sec. 0.0 space need to be -0.6 or better in true sec-level to just compete.
The sec.levels were meant to encourage people to fight for the resources, but it also makes 0.0 'smaller' (in useful space) than it needs to be, and thus it can't support many players.
IMHO, what should be done is that the current -1.0 to 1.0 grading system should be done away with. Replace it simply with 'high-sec', 'low-sec' and 'no-sec', with all systems of each grade having the same characteristics.
Low-sec needs to be expanded, with more agents and other content spread around instead of concentrated in a few key systems, high-sec needs a nerf to income, and no-sec should be more or less like today.

The problem isn't lowsec, it's highsec. Nerf L3s and L4s and lowsec might have a point again. Or, lowsec'll still be a ghost town but there will be less inflation of higher-end items. Positive outcome either way!
Here's where I get flamed.

I like how things in EVE has worked for a long time.
Highsec: Completely safe, if you're not a bit dundunduuu Lowsec: The rather safe, more interesting, tutorial to PVP area. G0.0glespace: The final frontier.
Always seemed like a logical, nice way of setting things.

It's an interesting idea, but a bit extreme. What if the true sec ratings of 0.0 systems were dynamic, with sec status rising or falling depending on how much ratting takes place there? You could use the original sec ratings to bias the rise/fall rate so that some systems are still better resources if you utilise them constantly, but with any system eventually falling to -1.0 if left for long enough.
This idea has the additional benefit that macro/farmer ratters will hate it!

We're in agreement. The problem is highsec's gotten too profitable. CNR, NPC corp, and you're next to invulnerable and making nearly as much if not as much as someone ratting in most of 0.0. Hell, you could argue the Privateers were a balancing measure against highsec operations. But that got dealt with pretty good.

When I first started playing you could spend all day NEVER seeing another player, it was great. Now, there isnt a single area in the known Eveniverse that doesnt have someone in it or an alliance owning it. It would be nice to have a whole new track of space to explore, looking for whatever it has to offer...
