Thank you for the report, and the support to IAC. Hats off to Bob and their allies for a good fight. Obviously a lot of good, experienced fighters and commanders on both sides.

You can make about anything resist a DD with the right setup. They only do one damage type after all.

ET, on the basis on your previous posts in CAOD I had you down as a bit of an illiterate tw@t with an e-peen issue but this report has somewhat changed my opinion of you.
Congrats - very nicely executed and well written-up.

Great stuff Thug. It always amazed me how much organization goes in to running military operations and just everyday logistics of running a large alliance.

Nice banner.
To preface things just let me say that, yes, when things went down I was indeed a bit 'speechless'. Those that know me probably consider that more of an accomplishment than killing a titan.
To say that the enemy got lucky would be an understatement. Also, to say that it was "all luck" would be very unfair as well. So, here is what I saw / know:
I had waited until the lag in local had cleared up before I logged in Thulsa. Sel was logged off and I was running another account with a dread getting ready to do some tower siegeing. Thulsa loaded with minimal lag and warped in to his safe spot and cloaked. I aligned him under cloak for the MC tower in system and then spent a couple mins helping organize the wing my dread was in.
After a couple mins I had planned to warp Thulsa to the MC tower in system for the day simply due to the large number of bad guys in local because... ya just never know! About a minute before I was ready to go into warp (I'm not sure how long Thulsa had been online but it felt like less than five mins?), I saw a pair of red squares warp in on my screen.
My first thought was that I was looking at my dread character client and, "Bah, some idiots are about to get roasted by the POS gunners." After a second I realized that this was on Thulsa's screen! Both red squares were interdictors (as that was the overview I had on) and were about 12k off of me.
Now, at this point I was not really scared just more, "WTF?" I was not in a gang yet (paranoia) and there was only one other person in MC with this particular safe spot. I immediately called for a gang invite on TS as a third ship (did not seem to be a dictor) warped in. This ship almost immediately de-cloaked me and was blasted to hell by the smart bombs a second later. I initiated warp and was very quickly bubbled.
Even at this point I was still not 'scared' but I realized that it was only going to be second before... yep, there they are - a whole ton of bad guys. Well, time to fire the DD and move out. Click - BOOM. Bubbles down, lots of things explodingà. almost in warp and I'm....
Bubbled??
It was at that moment I realized that one of the interdictors had somehow survived the DD. Try to imagine what that was like, folks. Was I lagged? Had the guy just somehow warped in just after the DD went off? Well, ain't this some ****! LOL!!
By now I was starting to lag out and was being bumped by at least 2-3 ships that I couldn't see. This, more than anything else, was what caused the ship to go down. At least 2 times I managed to initiate warp, but was being bumped out of alignment.
Thulsa was shield tanked and just as he hit about 20% shields I heard over TS that the entire allied fleet was warping in. I started to broadcast for armor and shields but I'd seen enough combat and knew my ship well enough to understand what was about to happen. I'd been reporting my status over the command channel and finally just said,
"Forget it. I'm gone. Make them pay for it."
An errie sense of calm shock hit at that moment. I did hit the screenshot key a couple times but for some reason nothing was captured (really sorry, folks). As the ship went into deep armor I just leaned back in my chair, put my hands behind my head and let out a long breath as the hull caught fire.

The lag at this point was incredible. The Raggy was still on screen with half of the modules missing even though I knew it was dead. You know that awesome state of play when your ship just sits there burning for a while taunting you? Well, after a minute or so I sat back up, found a belt and spammed the warp a few times. After nothing happened for about five minutes I simply logged Thulsa off and continied to listen to TS. Over MSN, Tholariam reported
ôWe are making them pay dearly for thatà if itÆs any comfort.ö
It wasnÆt. My mind was still trying to understand what had just happened.
The next few hours finally presented a clear picture that allowed me to wrap my mind around the loss. You see, IÆm not a covert ops pilot. I never realized that you can actually scan out a super capital in less than 20 seconds with maxed out skills / rigs, etcà IÆm betting there are a lot of people who, before this happened, didnÆt realize it either.
Then there was the matter of the tanked Interdictor. Wow. Who would have seen that one coming?
Over the last couple days, itÆs been very easy now (in hindsight) to understand what happened. It involved no small degree of skill and luck.
There will be no petition of any sort. It was a brilliant level of planning and taking a chance and ETÆs people deserve every accolade given to them for its execution. While obviously IÆm not happy about this, itÆs still a pleasure to have such ruthless enemies in such a complex game. Obviously this sort of thing wonÆt happen again so youÆll have to find another way next time.
A few interesting notes to wrap up:
ThulsaÆs pod actually did warp out to that asteroid belt before I logged him out so heÆs safe and happily flying a Vagabond for a bit.
Through some miracle, the titan wreck lived through the battle. Even more unbelievable was that an MC pilot managed to get to the wreck before anyone else and loot it. Nearly every piece of the shield tank survived (some 8 billion in fittings) along with two of the officer smart bombs.
Nearly all of the loot and salvage from the 14 enemy capital wrecks were donated directly to MC from our allies on the field.
Yes, losing a titan sucks. For some alliances it might be the end. For the MC, itÆs simply a reason to work harder, learn from mistakes and do better. I think our history this year is a testament to that commitment.
The fight goes on, brothers and sisters of EVE. See you in space.

First of all, very nice report Evil Thug.
But the report that captured me the most was yours Seleene, so props to you for that. I have never lost anything worth more than 300 million, but I can still relate to that hands-behind-head watching hull burning feeling that you conveyed really well.
Thank you both for the good reads.

o/ Enemys, Allies, and those whom play with respect and fun.
Great report and mental picture of all that occurred. The setting up and planning from -A- and friends, to the normally unmentioned and forgotten steps of running multiple accounts as an alliance leader which play into the end result. I'll bet money DD tanked dictors will be on the checklist to both have, and strategies against.

ET, sir, reports like that, where it gives you a little "will they make it, can they do it"; are why folks look on the forums whilst at work, or otherwise stuck somewhere boring. great read! great report!
