Epic stuff guys, thanks for the reports. Keep it up RAAAGOON, if for no other reason than we want to see what MC does politically in the next few months if the screws go to the thumbs any tighter. That's the real mystery, isn't it, what motivates MC leadership? :)

Threads like these are the reason to still read CAOD despite all the other trash that litters it up.
Thanks Evil Thug and Seleene for the great write ups. However this war goes, it will be guys like you that'll be remembered for it.

I was one of the dreadnought pilots sitting in POS waiting for our siege target to be called. All of a sudden while being in my own little world, one of the higherups people on TS told us to warp to Thulsa, and at first I was confused and didn't actually warp cause it didn't specify for the capital fleet, plus the guy's mic cut out.
Then carriers and dreads started warping off and I quickly followed suit as that was confirmation enough for me. I come out of warp, and theres mucho loading lag to be had as I sit there for something that seems like 2 - 3 minutes with only me and a thanatos on screen.
Then my screen locks up and out of nowhere EVERYTHING just loads all at once and I'm like "OMG O_O!!!" - and then I see, what I THOUGHT was our Titan for the first time, hovering over an armageddon wreck and I felt like "okay he's still alive! w00t!" and so we start taking down one RA capital ship after the other, and I suddenly think, "man for having a titan locked down they sure aren't shooting at it a whole lot..why is that..".
I keep following the primary, second and tertiary targets being called and theres something like..5 - 10 minute module lag. Boom goes another dread, and another, and another..and I'm giggling with glee thinking "Baaahahahahahaah DIE! DIEEEE! KABOOOM " (sort of a manic thing going on ), and now we're working on the last few enemy capitalships, I decide to hover my cursor over our dread to see how it's holding up as it's still bouncing and turning on that armageddon wreck....
That IS an armageddon wreck right?...it says Armageddon...wait a second, its ours..Armageddon, wait it says more...Armageddon Dawn...huh??...Armageddon Dawn (Titan Wreck)...NOOOOOOEZ! I had been looking at a titan wreck all this time. The only thing that bothers me about this whole incident, is that I never saw our Titan alive, from the day it was revealed till it's demise.
Other then that, it was a good fight, and when the last enemy ship was gone, I blew up a few wrecks, then set course for the Titan wreck, announced my intentions, and I managed to salvage the DD device from the wreck and pass it on to the higherups.
After that we took a minute or so to let the Titan loss sink in, and then we were actually all quite content and okay with it, and we set course for what we originally came here to do that day, sieging POS'es. Apart from our first POS we sieged everything went quietly. At the first POS, a medium -> large support fleet showed up at sniping range, our dreads were bubbled and they commenced shooting at us. Honestly I was a little confused as to why they did this, as the order immediately came for dreads to pick their own battleship target and take them down, and so we did.
I don't recall that many enemy support ships dying though, but I know a few did before they quickly warped out again. Props to our enemies for a good fight that day ^-^

Seems to me these folks have a grudging respect for each other and a shared sense of honor and honesty. Nice to see really. Thanks to both parties for the excellent reports and good luck to both in your future endeavors
Edit: Also I'm reminded of some silly magnet I pulled out of a cereal box a very long time ago and had up on my fridge forever. It stated something along the lines of: "Luck is where preparation meets oportunity." Seems to fit in this case I think.

Edited by: paracidic on 01/10/2007 04:21:21 Congratulations ET and friends. It sure is a great victory that fate handed you.
But seriously Seleene Congratulations, You response to this loss and the thread has been nothing short of astounding. You are perhaps the classiest player in eve.
I must admit that I am extremely impressed by the attitudes and the respect both groups have demonstrated towards each other.
It brings me back to the days when respect and courtesy were common place.
Thanks.
I admit that the only thing I heard when it was announced on my ts was my heart beat. The adrenilyn was thick in my blood and I wasn't there. I can only imagine how this battle felt for those involved.
Much Respect

The value of minerals has declined rapidly since drone regions. The swelling number of noobs selling mission loot has grown expodentially. Subsequently if you got good friends who have the paper work the mins only cost about 45 billion.

GREAT reports from both sides, really interesting reads and posts like that is what makes this forum barable at the moment because 98% of the rest is just garbage. Smelly garbage. This was like roses. Extra large roses.

Awesome posts from Both sites.
I tryed to understand what exactly happened this day and now i know it. Tanking a dictor for a DD clearly show how much you wanted that Titankill, ET.
also good job on all that planning and scanning. as for me, i was one of the OMGWTF moments when i saw where the warp was going (i saw thulsa warping of in this direction one time, so i realized pretty quick what was going to happen if we werenŠt not fast enough)
anyways we were a bit to late. And the **** has hit the fan. happens. Some day you win, some day you lose.
I hope of more lagfree fights in the future (i had indeed nearly no lag in this fight, even if i had it was less then 10 sec. Only desycned badly one time) and foremost i hope for SMACKfree fights like this. There were no smack after th kill which impressed me very much (maybe cause goons werenŠt arround or so.. who know? )
Thanks again for the report ET. And thanks to sel for your point of view.

For the person that wanted to know, Warping in after logging on does disregard bubbles. However, unless it's your alliances POS, or you can enter the PW fast enough (hard with lag sometimes) you WILL get bounced out and into the bubbles outside.

I applaud Evil Thug and Seleene and others in this thread who have acted most civilly. It would be nicer to see more threads like these :).
Nice battle reports by them and a few others. It is always nice to see it from different perspectives, and also to see how things might have ended differently in the early stages.
It shows a lot of planning and a little bit of luck :).
Thoughts expressed are mine and mine alone. They do not necessarily reflect my alliances thoughts. |
