For someone using their main, yes it is. For someone using an Alt then no, it appears to be petitionable. Just like suicide ganking people using 'throw away' Alts is frowned upon.
My original sig was 'Enjoy lag free play in a dynamic space MMORPG'. It was removed for lack of EVE content! ;) |

Not against the TOS.
Nothing in EVE is risk free, or is free from the interaction of other players, be it the space you fly in, the Market you buy on, or even the Deadspace you do missions in. The EVE player will always find new and exciting ways to bust your balls. That's what makes EVE great. If you want to go somewhere where you can run about merrily oblivious doing your little quests, than sign up for World of Warcraft, and jump your silly bones onto a PVE server.
What you have laying about in space while you're doing missions is ISK in terms of Salvage parts. As with piracy or scamming, EVE players will often try to find fun and easy ways of freeing you from the heavy burden of your ISK. Get used to it, get over it. If you're going to mission in a giant hub, especially near Jita, you might as well forget all about your wrecks. They'll be neatly picked by the no less than 5 people actively scanning for your hidey hole at a time. Your best bet is to finish the mission as quickly as possible, turn it in, and hope you leave them stranded at the first gate denying them loot, or, if you're that offended by it, blow your wrecks as you go. Or just plain go do something else for a while if it's that stressful to you. There's plenty plenty of things to do in New Eden that you really shouldn't be left wanting because you can't get a bit of salvage.
Spare me the tears, and adapt.
You have options. Use them.

It's not petition worthy. People just need to pay the ransom for the mission objective instead of losing the standings (unless you can afford to take the hit).
I agree I don't have the features to be a holoreel star. Most people have missed the point that this is Mobsters Online and that carebears are at the bottom of the foodchain. |

Motsu was a madhouse earlier. I'd got a hit on one guy, about a minute after I get in there 4 other people show up and it was a mad dash for the wrecks. Hah!
I agree though that things need to be changed about mission looters. Tractor Beams need to be able to be used on anyone's cans, not just gang members. Do you know how inconvenient it is flying to each wreck?
Time for a change, CCP!

How am I supposed to "ENJOY" my mission, a solo event U do on your own or with your friends, when I have idiots flying all over screwing the mission up and even causing me to have to fail it?

This thread recieves of a 5 of 10 rating for stupidity. On both sides.

From the deepest recesses of my black heart, I still think it's wrong to steal a mission item (preventing them from completing it), regardless if you ransom it or not.
But... I hold no qualms upon taking every other wreck and item in the entire mission ten times over. Hell, maybe even a bump bump here and there if his tank starts failing (fifty million bud.)

To the OP,
Welcome to Eve, a game where concern for others is seen as weakness and where a substantial proportion of the playerbase exist to do nothing other than inflict deliberate misery upon others for their own gratification. A place where those who enjoy this behaviour excuse it by quoting that Eve is a 'dark and heartless place' and where if you can't hack it then don't play. Rather like the human race until civilisation and humanity took over.
Inevitably the Darwinian argument of 'survival of the fittest' is quoted by these individuals in a self-congratulatory ego-trip implying that their ability to take something you need, in some way increases their self-perceived 'status' in the game. I really don't imagine it made them much money, so one wonders what else their motivation was.
Despite the advice from other posters, theft of an essential mission item is NOT petitionable. The official advice will be to pay the thieves whatever they demand to ransom back the goods, very much in keeping with the ethos of the game according to most of the above posters.
My advice? Make everything you do in this game dictated by paranoia. Before doing anything, think of the worst case scenario and plan against it. Assume that whatever you do there will be some asswhole who wants to disrupt it. Take pleasure from the fact that your avoiding actions depriving them of their ego-trip is as much PVP as their 'gank' or 'grief' behaviour is. To me, planning a well-executed mission, minimising the risk of intrusion, is part of the game and when others fail to disrupt my plans I congratulate myself as much as they do if they succeed in ganking me.
I don't agree with lessening the gaming experience of others just to make me feel bigger, but I know that this is an attitude which many in this game have. Naturally, your experience has left you feeling infuriated whilst others feed on that sentiment and enjoy it. Take some pride in rising above the lowest denominator and avoid it happening to you in future.

That.
Everything further is just plain griefing. Personally, i got no problem whatsoever with pvp in eve. But it amazes me how simple it is to grief others without a chance to get back at you. And that there's so many people who enjoy it.

Indeed, as above poster said, my only problem with ******* with mission runners comes when you make a mission uncompletable. Steal their wrecks, hell, suicide gank their ships (could actually be fairly profitable if he's in a faction-fitted CNR), but don't touch the mission objective. All other things he can get around or just coast without, but having no mission objective around is almost impossible to work around. ------------------------------ One more soldier off to war... See, right about... there was where you went wrong.
Nowhere in EvE is "solo". Anyone can go everywhere you can go.
CONCORD provide consequences, not safety; only you can do that. |
