I don't really know where to post this, so I am hoping this is the best place.
I have been playing this game for a few weeks now and I find it to be very entertaining. I want to continue to play Eve Online and grow my character.
My corp keeps to itself in .5 space or higher (usually near Hek to Vullat) and mine to make monsy so we can build a foundation to grow on.
A few days ago a pirate corp, named Tough Luck, declared war on us and has ravaged our corp. We are on the verge of being broke, have no ships, and can not do much of anything when we log on.
We did not declare war back on them in hopes they would look for fun elsewhere, but ity has become apparent that all they want to do is harass and destroy our playing time.
We have also found out that we are not the only small corp thay have declared war on. They seem to have 4 or 5 wars going on right now with other corps, and they all seem to be suffering from simular problems we are.
Is there any solution to our problem past disbanding our corp? What is the counterbalance in the game when players do such greifing tactics on smaller players?

Metagame: Disband, or just leave a 'holder' alt and move out for a while.
In game: Move your stuff somewhere else. Somewhere where you're not predictable to find. Keep moving if needs be. And do your business 'somewhere else'. Lowsec or 0.0 serve as major deterrents to empire wardeccers :).
Alternatively, hire a mercenary, or make a post like your one and see if you get people volunteering to join your corp for a bit, to take advantage of a free war. -- Crane needs more grid 249km locking? GMP and TNP |

The easiest thing to do is to sit tight and let their warcosts be high until they realize there isn`t enough profit to make out of the war.
Take some of your PVE/mining ships 10 jumps out of your HQ, entertain yourself there and keep an eye open on local at all times. No one is going to pay the cost of multiple wars without getting any kills out of it. Good luck! ---

Edited by: Jezala on 10/10/2007 22:06:59 You got a few options available to you.
First, you can pay them off to get them to end the war and buy yourselves time to rebuild and establish some type of defensive force for any future aggressions.
Second, you can disband your corp and seek out a more mature and stable corporation which can show you the ropes to the game and provide you the environment to grow into a self sufficient pilot.
Third, your corp can try to merge with a bigger and stronger corp.
Fourth, you corp can hire mercenaries.
Fifth, you can take none of the above suggestions and allow yourselves to get killed off to the point of quitting the game. If you are unwilling to take any steps to ensure your survival in this game then you'll just be another statistic caught in EVE's Darwinian filter.
Potential sixth option is to fight back, but seeing as you're just getting slapped around right now without much effort then I really don't see this as much of an option for your corp

Yep! Call Rens 911 and ask them for help, they might give you a hand.
Besides that: keep together. Coordinate your efforts. You said other smaller corps have similar problem? Then stick ALL together.
Fly inexpensive yet useful ships like rifters. If you can mass together enough they are really dangerous.
If above fails, relocate your location some 30 jumps or more. Usually it is too much trouble for the others to follow you.
Get more people working together.

How many of them are there? What ship classes?
How many of you are there online at your busy time??
Griffin is a great ship. 4 mid slots for 1 of each races jammer, or tweeked to suit the ships they fly A griffin per enemy ship = probably jammed A handful of damage dealers (incursus are good and cheap)
Easy to co-ordinate against small numbers, it can get complicated with a lot of hostiles though. Focus fire and they will chew through anything within a short amount of time.
Of course that is what they want, they get their fun out of PvP like you like mining, which may be counter productive.
You have to remove their fun, or make it not worth their while.
3 or 4 corps named <main corp name> NPCing <main corp name> Mission Runner <main corp name> Mining <main corp name> Trading
Have a main channel that is limited to people in them corps. When <main corp name> NPCing gets war decced decide that you want to stop NPCing, and go into mining :)
It is the harshness of eve, maybe it isnt fair, but that doesnt mean you cant use your imagination and make it as awkward as possible for them in the process -----------------------------------------------

Edited by: Saladin on 10/10/2007 23:19:56 Lots of great suggestions here, but I am partial to fighting back. If you take that option, you would not be the first in EvE to engage in Asymmetric warfare. Using small ships for ECM and damping can be the great equalizer. Getting a group of Malus/Griffins and Incursus/Rifters is easy. You may even have some fun. For logistics purposes you will need one or two pilots capable of flying blockade runners. Without the benefit of dictors in empire, these nimble industrials are a pain to catch. Even if no one in your corp can fly or buy one, you can fit a Sigil to be a ghetto blockade runner.
Contact other corps they have wardec'd and share intel. Create a new channel and ask them to have their members join. You need to assemble a list of their pilots and all of you need to add them all to your buddylists. Observe their log on/log off habits so you get an idea of their TZ operation. Avoid engaging established groups, instead hit them when numbers begin to wane. Once you get a few ganks and feel confident, the next step will be to establish traps. Even if you are not planning to play at a given time, just log in, stay docked and afk and let them waste their time camping you. Use out of corp alts to monitor their movements. See if you can find out if they have an alt corp they use for logistics and war dec them.
Finally, it will be extremely difficult to succeed without Voice coms. If you don't have access to a TS/VENT server, consider EvE voice. If all are not an option then you guys need to sit down and establish some form of abridged communication. For instance, saying "iff" could be "I found a f**ker". In battles you can agree to sort overview by name and agree to attack the first name in the list. Still though, all of that pales in comparison to real time voice communication.
Frigates will have limited success, but once you guys get comfortable with a few kills you can start thinking about cheap cruisers like the Celestis, Thorax, Rupture, Blackbird and so on. ----

Roxana,
The exact same thing happened to us. I think you will find there are people out there who will come and help. You have asked in the right place: FYI turn on your corp ticker.
If I may pass on some advice that was given to me, when I sat in the exact same position as you...."Go out and fight, you may be amazed how much fun you'll have."
2 Years later - Our corp loves to PVP, hell we just got our asses kicked in the Drone Region - But you just have to "lick your wounds and move on" - None the less the fighting was alot of fun.
You win some you loose some - But in the end, your corp will be stronger because of this - You will see who your true members are when the "chips" are down.
Good Luck and Happy Hunting.

Wow, corp #lots who had this happening against them.
EVE is a jungle. Predators looking for easy and fat prey. not necessarily for money only. As a small industrial corp with (I assume) mainly more inexperienced players, you are on the bottom of the foodchain.
There have been many threads on this issue. Most common advice isinclude " scatter, use expendable frig fleets to fight back, hire mercs etc..." I however doubt if you could succesfullly muster a counterattack, even powerful alliances have problems defending vs smll fast and tightly organized bands of pirates and mercs.
Personally, I think scattering is the best option. Each member move 15 or more jumps away from your location, and make sure you don't bunch up again.
Other than that, good luck.
There's little a sledgehammer can't fix. If you can't fix it, you need a bigger sledgehammer. If it's unfixable, blame CCP. :p

welcome to EVE :)
that stuff happens alot in EVE btw. same thing happend to first corp i was in. at that time i was maybe a months old and didnt have a clue what pvp is. was mining alot. what we did is, we let inactive alt run corp and left for a week or two. eventually our plaguer got bored and forgot about us very fast. anyhow, i m not sure if fighting these prolly skilled and good equiped players is a good idea. especially without any significant pvp experience and in cheap frigs and cruisers. i mean if they fly somthing like HACs and command ships u will be toast. of course unless u maybe have ALOT of pilots and u can blob them with crappy T1, which i doubt. just dont be down in the mouth. not much that cant be done with friends in a NPC corp, in high sec.

The Grief war is something that every young CEO has to face. Its a make or break point for both you and your corporaiton.
Most of the best options have already been suggested, But I will re-idderate the one I suggest most, Fight back.
As you said, They have wardeced a number of smaller corporations like yourself. If you combine forces to fight them, You will likely have a better chance of success, and will build a stonger bond between you and the pilots already serving with you.

This is an alt griefer unit, make a contract with a more established corporation to declare war on them and you won't see them log on at all till the war is over or even jump corporation till it's safe to get back in. That's what they did when we broke their backs.

Work together as a pvp unit and or get a experianced pvper to give you advise on how to kill these guys its not hard and if they start losing isk they will leave you alone. Plus you will be a stronger corp for it as bailing is a habit that is hard to break as we seen on a much larger scale on these forums.

To the OP:
Tough Luck is nothing anyone should really be worried about. Nothing that may give any fun as well. They enjoy to bother people that cant answer properly and then remain permadocked or log off as soon as someone with at least a will to fight shows up.
Why? Thats pretty easy. Because as soon as they cant play the game as their below average skills allows them to, they switch character and go carebearing somewhere else. This happens because their "CEO", a worthless player named Equium Duo, is an alt of a 0.0 alliance, as he smartly states in their blog:
"I quickly realise how daunting it is for newer players, being an alt of a player in a 0.0 alliance i'd forgotten this over the months."
You can find the full story here.
So, forget about hiring any mercenary service or seeking help from experienced players, cause as soon as the support steps in, Tough Luck eternal noobs will vanish.
The only option you have, in my opinion, is to prepare yourself to fight them back.
After all, beating them is as easy as clapping your hands. All they are looking for (that is also all they are capable of) is killing some soft targets and as soon as they start loosing some ship they will loose the fun and run back to their 0.0 mom to grow some isk in order to recover from the damage. A practice that, sadly, will never allow them to grow some balls.
All you need is some will to spank them along with some good advice on setups and tactics. I cant help with your will to make them history, but feel free to drop me a line ingame to discover the easy tricks to beat an easy opponent.
