Shuttles are defenceless, no weapon or tank, so killing them is easy even in a rooie ship with rookie weapons. Shuttles get webbed, cap drained and all the other nasties that other craft do, so no advantage, in fact they go pop - pop if you stagger your volley, no shuttle, no pod, byebye, have fun real quick. Shuttles speed is slow in space and in warp, race one against any nano (or my Vigil) and you'll lose your money. Shuttles have 10m3 cargo space, so not practicial apart from going from a to b to get into a proper ship. Shuttles should be more expensive, LOL. As we all should know, the trit value of the shuttle is the cap on trit prices, raise the price and trit will increase in value and therefore every other item in the game, we know its the main anti inflation mechanism. Inflation would definatly happen, greed is inbuilt to most, it would hurt the game, all those noobs (me inculded if i actually bought stuff) out there would be priced out of the market, can't buy ships or mods, means no enjoyment, means leave game. what the OP forgets is that shuttles are just wrapping paper covering your pod that give you some speed to get where your going, for intel gathering meta gaming methods using alts (sad no balls loser mains they are) seems to be the norm. ...... continues overleaf.

But itÆs agility suffers greatly compared to the shuttle û itÆs three times as poor actually. In addition, the signature radius of the Rifter is about a third larger as well. But check out the cost û the Rifter costs over 30 times as much as the shuttle. Is this huge increase in price worth the couple high slots that the Rifter gains as a result? Well, maybe we should compare the stats of T2 ships, surely interceptors would be better, correct? Yes, letÆs do that! HereÆs the Ares, an awesome gallente interceptor and the fastest ship IÆve ever flown: Ares: Speed: 450 * 1.8 * 1.25 = 922.5 Agility: 3.1 Signature Radius: 35 (down to 27) Cost: 5 million ISK Whoah! ThatÆs a big increase in speed, wouldnÆt you say? The 922 meters per second is definitely a lot faster than your average shuttle, but once again, you have to look at the cost here û the interceptor costs over 1200 times as much! In addition, it takes a lot of ISK in skillbooks and time to use interceptors, where any new player can use a shuttle immediately. Well maybe we should look at this in terms of speed vs. cost! Ares: 5000000/922 = 5420 ISK per meter/second Rifter: 300000/600 = 500 ISK per meter/second Shuttle: 9000/625 = 14.4 ISK per meter/second No matter how it looks, the shuttle is by far the most efficient when it comes to cost vs. speed. No amount of high-slots or modules can make up for this, and itÆs over 100 times as cheap as itÆs closest rival in speed. DoesnÆt anyone see a problem with this The ShuttleÆs impact in Alliance Warfare ItÆs obvious that shuttles are the premier source of intelligence info in 0.0 space as well. Given itÆs cheapness, low skill requirements, and insane speed itÆs capable of outrunning almost any other ship and it can be used by disposable alts in case a blunder on the pilotÆs part gets it killed. This has led to difficulties in mounting effective defenses since people know whatÆs going to attack through intelligence gathering. I'm not done yet! lol, i find this discussion rather amusing. I have to admit that a shuttle is great for getting thrue some gate camping thou. I did a trip out DEEP into 0.0 space yeasterday. But that was only to c the Titan Steve. (Actually a wreck) I did go thrue 3 gatecamps on my way there. But im unsure whether that was beacuse of my status as a noob, or the fact that im a threat to none. You can actually read my thread. Check under "Alone in the Dark" As to the shuttle's amazing speed. Heck anyone can outfit a faster ship. Are they to cheap for ur taste. Well try flying thrue a gate camp in one. I did 3x.
