basically a bunch of whiners got together and said mineral compression sucks CCP decided it would be wrong to capitulate to a bunch of whiners then someone at CCP said lets make freighters jump capable instead of tweaking carrier jump hauling which as far as i can tell is simply going ahead with the mineral compresion nerf but giving something that makes the change irrelevant - heres the catch only the rich people will feel as if nothing changed forget mining in 0.0 forget everything lets just make the mineral supply of 0.0 easier to do than it ever was by just buying from empire so everyone can go kill stuff

Sorry don't see your point ?
This seems like a logical next step to me, easier to live in 0.0 means more people in 0.0 means more targets for me and my corp.

Yeah- so they jump station to station perfect safe - jump into the last system in low sec at a station and then they have the hug risk of a warp to zero to high sec.
Its bad enough with the bloody carriers securly carrying loot out of 0.0
RISK v REWARD
Dont make me laugh - this farcical mantra has lost any vestige of humor and slaps the poor EvE player in the face like a fish.

So where is the risk to gate campers? Anytime someone shows up to take you on you run into your cozy NPC station. If you really want risk vs reward go into 0.0 where your neut alts cant watch local 1-2 jumos in every direction for any threat to your "risky" gatecamp.

1) The REWARD in low sec is pittance. Seriously. Its very hard to make a living baring the occasional bonanza or idiot coming through.
Decent loot skips the area via the carrier jump ships or even titan jump bridge. I watch bob ferry 20 freighters via a jump bridge totaly safely about once a month. There is NO way of killing them. But at least the cost of the titan to produce makes this a reward for the huge outlay.
2) The risk is pretty low also - if you got a good system of scouts. But even with this I still lose ships tryinh out 1 on 1s / carriers jumping in on you/ large gang engagements.

Why cant you have cloaked neutral alts in 0.0? Sorry am i missing something?
Ive fought in 0.0, lowsec, and high sec in massive scale empire wars. 0.0 and low sec is roughly the same risk. Highsec wars in the Privateer alliance was about 10 times as hard.

if you remove the cynoships ability to refuel poses, you wont see any 2000 ppl alliance claiming 3 regions. tried to refuel 50+ poses? yeah even with 20 guys
i just see a sad thing for transport specialties there, and a good will to keep the "powerblocks" where they are
hauling should be a skill, not only a very annoying task ------

I wanted to troll your thread but tbh I strongly agree with you.
CCP seem determined to make mechanics changes and introduce new ships. Some of those are interesting and worthwhile (heavy dictors, ewar frigs), whereas others seem just for the sake of change and making up the numbers.
Make space bigger again, not smaller.
Make it easier to disrupt people's supply chains, not more difficult (promoting pos warfare - yay).

Oh its not that you cant have them, what i meant is they will stick out in alliance controlled space, as opposed to 0.5 systems with 60 guys in local. My main point was that many gatecamps scatter to the wind soon as you bring an even fleet, and if you go find them you see them all sitting in the stations. The risk vs reward thing just doesnt seem to be there to me.

Dont get me wrong, im not against gatecamps or anything. I dont even care about freighters much (eventhough i own one). I just dont see gatecampers take many risks vs the reward they want out of this (cap ship kills).

0.0 camping is a piece of ****. Bang up a bubble/interdictor sphere. Have fast locking webbing huggin. Masacre everything that comes through the gate with your 10 damage dealing friends. Scouts tell you when a gank fleet is coming. Its a pidgeon shoot.
Low sec killing is harder. You cant used frigates to assist your tackling so you have an instant tackle problem. You cant use bubbles. You cannot deploy interdictor spheres. You have sentry guns firing at you. You cannot idle on the gate without taking fire.
Scouts used in both high sec and low sec enable fleet to disperse / cloak if overwhelming forces come in.
SKUNK
The truth is a LV4 mission runner sat in high sec with ZEROP risk makes far more reward then a low sec pirate with a fraction of the risk

This just makes it so that smaller alliances and corps without the necessary resources to erect a jump bridge or build a titan are not so hampered in their logistics efforts.

I can't believe I'm agreeing wth SiJira...
All this effort to nerf supplies jumped in by carriers and for what? Now it will be next to impossible to blockade an enemy and try and strangle them into submission.
I figured that some sort of freighter was coming for the last ship class, but thought it would be a half sized 'freighter light' that would bridge the gap between the current designs and the t1/t2 haulers.
Jump capable freighters... are they even going to be allowed in high-sec at all? Hopefully not.

Ok, first of all, you've made enough posts in the last year to teach a basic typing class, and not one of them have been anything relevant.
And second off: what is this thing about 0.0 being completely separate from Empire? I don't understand. How will 0.0 ever be able to sustain itself without skill books, towers, and the tons of other items available from NPCs? And yes, I know there are 0.0 NPC regions, but most of the nullsec alliances can't just stroll 50-odd jumps to their nearest NPC 0.0 region inhabited by hostiles. It's much easier to throw them on your nice and shiny jump-capable freighter.
Please.

Just ask Pandemic Legion.... 30 sec dock timer, plenty of time for a nono phoon to bump your carrier 20km off station.... they killed 7-8 carriers in a week using this method.
i think the t2 freighters will have a positive impact on the game, being a carrier pilot will no longer be something to hide because your sick and tired of people begging you for jumps, or not logging in with your main cus you know you will have 20 eve mails waiting for you... it will offer the ability to people who want to haul stuff and have taken the time to train a skill which is meant for hauling stuff to actually do what they want to do beyond being stuck in empire. i dont look forward to logging in and moving 5,000,000 m3 worth of junk from a-b (ps im not talking about a system called a-b), not because i dont get compensated for my time, but just simply because i want to kill something not sit there jumping unloading haulers reloading haulers all bleedin evening. bring on the t2 freighters, well done ccp Foot M

Doesn't the cyno stay open for 5-10minutes? That gives plenty of time to jump a Black Ops BS to see what jumped and then jump in carriers. Or heck, just jump in and shoot. These freighters only have 5ly base jump range, so if you see one jump away you can quickly guess which cyno it jumped to.
I also don't mind them going into high-sec, that will help enourmous amounts in livening up low-sec and 0.0 markets. Butm if they do allow that then PLEASE make them require level 5 freighter skill and level 5 jump drive operation. Otherwise as it is, anyone who can fly a freighter can fly these. Then ofcourse there is the price issue ;) .

As long as POS fuel items like Robotics and the like can only be aquired from NPC trade 0.0 will always have a symbiotic relationship with high-sec. It's just a shame that the supply lines are being made safer all the time.
