Ok, I'm fairly new to the Battleship level of ship play as I'm also less than a 7 months into the game of casual play.
While I know all the spec differences of the Raven and Navy Raven, what is the reason for the extra 500m that is cost to get a Caldari Navy issue raven. That's almost 450m over the tier 3 Rokh BS for the caldari. And it has a the ability to fit a full 8 Turrets. But the Navy Raven has the ability to start with a much stronger tank base with over 11k shields. Is this worth 500m??
At this point I'm mainly a missioner and only PVP when someone pushes the subject on me.
And with the expected prices of the new T2 BS coming out with Revelations 2, is there any chance the price for this might come down?

Edited by: Selene Le''Cotiere on 14/10/2007 03:06:39 Reason being is the CNR excelled at mission running, being able to fit all those hi slots with torps. Allowing em to complete missions fairly quickly.
I however wouldn't be surprised to see their prices coming down soon though. But who know, with the market these days. _________

yes it is worth 500-600m and no their price will not drop anymore CNR offer 500.000Lp +200m or 600.000 Lp+ a raven there are much better Lp store items to take and sell at LP store. If someone is not stupid youll not see a price drop.

What planet are you on? Raven, even CNR has pittiful dps compared to most other race battleships. Just it has missile which rock at PvE, but no real use (yet) in PvP.

No. the reason is simple. As stated before, Raven Navy Issue BPC cost 500K LP + 200M on the LPS store right now.
1 LP is worth about 1000 isk (perhaps more, see faction ammo selling prices)
So, a Raven Navy issue BPC is worth about 700M, and a constructed Raven Navy Issue BPC about 800M.
Any prices below that are made either by people having so much LP they don't care, or by people that haven't realise yet that they can make a lot more profit by selling faction ammo :p

I don't think it has pitiful DPS, just that the missles have a negated effect if your target is already dead by the time the missles get there, which is great for missions as you're there by yourself, but long range PvP engagements are not so good.
Otherwise it has awesome DPS with a full rack of torps. ---

The main reason is that it's a faction ship, you can't buy it off the market. Basically that means that somebody has to do a HUGE number of missions for a caldari faction in order to get some 500,000+ Loyalty Points in order to get one, rather than simply getting a cheap BPC (or the BPO), the needed minerals and building one yourself. So basically while you will see ravens for sale everywhere you go in Empire on the market, you will only see a handful of Navy Ravens because they are rare, hense the high price of them.
.....and yes for mission running that extra missile slot comes in real handy. I wouldn't ever suggest it in pvp though since it pretty much has a huge bullseye painted on it, being a faction ship and all.

As everyone else has stated, the high price is due to the game asking for a similas huge amount to grant one.
That said, faction items are the way the game uses to offer improved equipment to people that dont have the skills for tech II, at a massive isk cost.
The tech II raven is supposed to enter the game at the end of the year (Golem), and should be better than a CNR; however, not too many will have the skills for it, and it will not be much cheaper than a CNR afaik.
For effect, the CNR is a pretty good value for money, for a dedicated mission runner. Although, losing one is not factored in the equation. ----

Actually some of our best PvPers use the cruise missile Raven on regular bases. It can't tackle for itself, but with 6 missiles, 2 sensor boosters, 3 damps, 3 damage mods, 2 speeds mods, some suited rigs and a cloak, it is a very good ship to have in a roaming gang as damage dealer. It can hit most speedy ships and faction cruises hit for a lot of damage.
It sucks in fleet battles, but the new torp buff will make it very wanted for POS busting.

Thank you for all your help. I think I'll stick with a standard issue Raven for now and see what the regs are for the T2 Raven, I can already fly T2 Frigs and Cruisers. I don't expect the requirements to be too far out of line of that.
Eh, this will likly be my last caldari ship to fly as I head down the path of Gallente ships.

I believe the two main time sink skills for the Maruader class will be Racial battleship 5 and Advanced Weapon Upgrades 5.
