i have the isk to buy me a bs.....recently loost my scorp to npc
I really like lasers, but they require alot of cap and i dont seem to get enought damage even if i use megabeams with 2 tracking computers and damage mods.
I wanna have a ship to fight npc..from cruisers and bs npc.
i have all the gunnery skills at lev4.
I really cant deside what ship to choose.....if there are any veterans with alot of experience with fighting npc please give me some advice on what ship to choose and the loadout.
As i said earlyer,i really wanna use lasers.
U guys have to excuse my poor english.

the apocalypse or armageddon is probably what you want. But if you have problems deciding, just send me the money and I'll buy one or two :)

Armageddon.
Nice with lasers, you don't need that many of medium slots with NPC's and well, if you have 130 mil then you can't really afford Apocalypse. ^^;

What j0sefine meant was probably can't afford equipment, insurance etc if you buy an Apoc. However if you bought an Arma you have a safety net so to say.
Just because something is fixed doesn't mean you can't break it

To be exact, i meant one can't really afford a ship if they can't buy it at least 2-3 times, modules et al. ^^
Spending all money on the ship is literally putting all eggs in one basket, and there's plenty people and NPC's who enjoy cracking other people's eggs. -.o

ic,but mining for many more months to have that kind of isk is not that appealing to me.
I could just buy the apoc and take it to 0,5-0.6 space and make more isk faster and safer and then go npc when i have the isk to risk the ship?

For NPC hunting, I'd go with an Armageddon. It's cheap, has SUPERB firepower (go the 5% rof!), and is a very effective long-range damage dealer. I used an Armageddon for a fair while, before I got into an Apocalypse.
Course, the 3 midslots hurt, but if you're sensible and don't rush into PvP with it, you'll be fine.

Well I would say you need a decent cash buffer left after your ship purchase so I would go for a Dominix.
A great ship that can be put to use for short range attacks, high level agent missions, mining, and as a support ship in group combat if short range combat is not your game.

What Jim said, get a Typhoon. 4x 1400mm Howitzer pack a mean punch. You need good skill levels to fully utilize a Typhoon, but once you achieve that it is a powerhouse.
I would not say they are cheap, it is the most expensive Tier 1 BS, but it is well worth the money.
I fly one myself and I am very fond of it. Miss my 425mm Railguns tough, so I just might have to get a Megathron later on. -------------------------

Armageddon.
Good for everything. It does suck in anything smaller than 4v4 though. Isn't much of a damage taker... I have yet to armor tank mine. My shield tank died yesterday sooo... I'm going to mine in my armageddon =] Its good @ that.
btw wtf is bubble mining :(

The term covers mining stray asteroids. It allows you to mine afk, no NPC, hence why it is a "bubble" of peace and tranquility. -------------------------

Edited by: Marcus Aurelius on 23/02/2004 17:53:45 Well, as you so perfectly state, lasers do take very much from your cap and grid.
With the newest hybrid boosts to 425's (lowering grid cost and cap use a bit), with your skills at appropriate levels (5 for the fitting skills and 4-5 for the damage related ones), you should fly a megathron wand equip 7 425 rails.
It will take no or little cpu's if you dont shield tank, and it will rule against npc's. Now with two damage mods and a tracking mod....
Also, it can fit some nice mining equipment too.
edit: oh, foorgot the droneses

Come on, people think the apoc R0X0R as a shield tank with XL/EM ward/thermal ward/SB Amp, but the armageddon SUX0R with XL/EM ward/thermal ward, and an extra lowslot?
The difference isn't that huge.
However I'd never run an amarr ship with projectiles or hybrids

Not forgetting that it's also an exploit that can (and should) get you banned of course.

I myself do not yet have a BS, but I think the Typhoon will be a great ship (when I finally get one).
second biggest drone bay of any BS...great when NPCs insist on MWDing to you, it'll be ideal for armor tanking when cloaking goes live - you'll instantly have enough cap out of cloak to fire all weapons (torps at close range with explosion radius disabled) and 3500 m3 drones, and armor tanked, the 0 shield won't be a problem...it'll be damn exciting.
I plan to rig mine for speed and range damage for doing agent missions...which is definitly my goal, I doubt I'll ever go for any other BS. =======Abaddon=======

Yes! Leave the asteroids that are unattended flying freely in space 8.000 km from the nearest belt alone!

That's what you want to do. You said you really want to use lasers, and everyone who says don't put all you eggs in one basket is right. If you have the willpower to carebear it while you mine up for another Bship.
I'd say mine and buy the 2nd Battleship while you work on your skills. Since this is lottery win cash, you want to create the ability to create cash for yourself from here now on.
How deep are you going for your NPC hunting? It looks like you need some skill upgrades before marching off to war. Here you can learn from the best PC pirates. Most of which seem to have a couple of million skill points in Engineering.
So it's more than Gunnery.
Oh I even found the Tank CEO Skills Screeny http://www.clanfoa.net/incorporated/Skillpoints.jpg
There is my point in graphic detail.
At the end of the day, you are going to lose your first battleship, that you take into battle. So beef up those Engineering and Gunnery Skills while you are mining. That way when your Battle-Battleship dies you will still have the 8 laser miner at home to help replace the Battle-Battleships.
If you are set on lasers, then it's Apoc all the way.

You want a Battleship to kill every NPC out there?
no lasers, but
Try this:
Apocalypse
HiSlots: - 8x 425mm Railgun (preferrebaly Scouts if you can afford them)
Medslots: - F-90 Sensorbooster - Large C5L Shieldbooster - LIF Afterburner - EM/Thermal Hardener
Lowslots: - 2x Co-Processor II - 2x Magnetic Field Stabilizer II - 2x Power Diagnostic I - 1x Reactor Control I
Works more than good for me. I was able to kill a Scorpion/Raven Gurista Spawn on my own with this. I've bee nusing lasers before, but the cap screws up too fast, especcially when you fight BS NPCs and have to warp out to reload Cap, THEIR Shields will be fully reloaded when you come back. I think you need electronics 5, wepon upgrades4 and engineering 5 for this.
Warning: ONLY use this setup if you can afford to loose it :D
