I could type in "bloodc" and find bloodclaw missile. Now i have to type "trauma li"? Great.
So? At least you and all players of Eve now know that Trauma is "Kinetic" through ALL of the missile sizes.... you can now remove all of the other names from your memory and work towards getting into Mensa. |

i mean i could go on and on... that is a weak stance to the renaming argument for certain.

You forgot to mention submarines. Yes, the world of EVE already suffers from a high number of inconsistencies and 'approximations'. if for new players it is hard to find necessary module, wouldn't it be easier to add new button in market "browse similar items" like EFT/Pifa already have?
In all honesty, they could have kept the old names but just put the damage type in the name.
"Scourge Fury Kinetic Heavy Missile" for instance..
I am all about making it easier to find the module you need. I also think they should have put a meta-level indicator in the icon. Much like how you see Tech II and Tech III in the icons.
