then why are you cryin?
Because I was warned for no appreciable reason? Because after 2.5 years of playing this game my otherwise clean record is tarnished for no reason that I could have foreseen (except if I were a complete cynic)?
Did you read my response here? It might clarify things for you. ---------------- Tarminic - 29 million SP in Forum Warfare Originally by: CCP Wrangler Booooo!!! Tarminic sux!!!

Permanent warning on my record. Are you actually capable of comprehension or are you Modified Eliza - Eve Edition?

To sum it up :
You tried to scam ISK by impersonating a member of Griefwatch.
Griefwatch publically outed you and complained to CCP.
CCP looked into it further, and handed you your ass.
You've now come to the forums whining because your scam failed, and are trying to make CCP look bad or reverse their descision purely on the grounds of the wording of their EULA.
There really is no other reason for your naming of character and corporation almost identically to that of one being used for the collection of ISK for a killboard service.
It's blatently apparent what you were trying to do, and it's a good thing that CCP did act on it and make an example of you.
Although I don't promote it, scamming is a part of the game when it's done for ingame items.
When it's done in relation to a service that someone puts time and out of game effort into developing, and pays for out of their own pocket (hosting and development costs) then frankly you deserve everything you get.
Nice job CCP, but personally I'd have smacked him with the banstick. Probably permamantly.

Ok- youve done the first step in the chain of logic, but failed miserably at the second.
You have got a warning. This is not a criminal record and will not affect your employment prospects or credit rating. Neither will it affect your gameplay so long as you don't continually do anything stupid or cynical.
If you are not bright enough to avoid doing things which will get you a second warning- then frankly you shouldnt (for your own safety) be allowed near the electrical sockets which power your pc, let alone complicated stuff like games software.

Quote: There really is no other reason for your naming of character and corporation almost identically to that of one being used for the collection of ISK for a killboard service.
Correct, but it's also within the EULA, and Wrangler had no problem with it.

This issue has caused you more harm in the time wasted whining on here than in any other meaningful way.

The rules are whatever CCP says they are at any given time in any given place. Their game, their rules. The EULA is just a guide. Use common sense and logic and you'll be fine. You were 'impersonating' a corp hoping that a technicality in the EULA would get you off the hook. It didn't and now you're trying to defend yourself as if CCP is some kind of court of law where the laws are followed to the "T" and with ridiculous technicality. You know very well why what you did was wrong.

Edited by: Zy Nox on 17/10/2007 15:00:49 Shame tbh sounds like a pretty good scam alt name.
Also it dosent mater if he was in the right or not, CCP employees should ALL be towing the same line, none of this hearing that its ok from one CCP guy one day and then getting wtf warned and name changed the next.
Edit: the petition system is like this too, its a coin toss as to wether you get someone who knows wtf he is talking about, someone who dosent care or someone who copy n pastes his replays.

You're still missing the point.
It's all very well saying that it's CCP's account to do with as they wish. However, if they are to maintain a relationship of trust with their customers, they need to operate in a trustworthy manner; ie stick to the rules they themselves publish. I fully accept that CCP are free to act in any way they like, however I'd like to be able to trust them not to.

They interpreted the rules slightly differently than was explicitly stated, but anyone would say that the spirit of said rules was followed. You tried to impersonate an organization instead of a character, the details are minor honestly. ---------------- Tarminic - 29 million SP in Forum Warfare Originally by: CCP Wrangler Booooo!!! Originally by: Amarr Citizen 2007091000 For background, see this thread.
Shortly after that thread, my character was renamed and I was issued a formal warning under this section of the EULA:
'No player may use the character name of another player to impersonate or falsely represent his or her identity.'
Since my character was not misrepresenting anybody else's character name (as confirmed by Wrangler in the thread linked above), I petitioned the warning.
The end result, after pointing out the flaws in all the arguments offered by the GMs for the warning was a response to the effect of:
"We know what the rules are, it doesn't matter what the EULA says we've made our decision and it stands"
Note that this is not a direct quote.
I would have been comfortable with the character renaming; however a permanent warning against my account for something the GMs admit is not covered by the EULA seems punitive and unjust.
Why bother even publishing an EULA if GMs are going to make decision based on their own whims instead of what it actually says?
Not particularly observant, are you?
Devs & GMs routinenly outright ignore EULA violations, issuing no warnings and no bans. Petition the same group of glaringly obvious macro miners for 2 years and see what happens (nadda). People just claim that they're 'farming'... which CCP also does not create any counter to, giving farmers blanket invulnerability (or as close as) in NPC corps.
