Can someone tell me how this works?
From what I have read in the forums if your in high sec concord will come and defend you so how do you kill someone using that tactic.

You do enough damage before you die by the hand of concord. You fit a ship, that can instapop the one you want to suecide kill in high sec.
A freighter can be killed if many BS launch an attack at the same time and do enough damage before they all die.
Need to pick the right ship to instapop, scanning cargo and hope that enough survives so you can steal the loot and make a profit frome it even after you lost your ship.
Many ppl rly hate that this can be done in high sec. But CCP allow it. To protect your hauler frome them you can fit plates/extenders to have that extra HP to stay alive. Fly a Transport ship insteed of a Industrial.
We should have an guide for this You can make alot of isk if you are lucky...
I have never done it, just afraid to find my self being ganked when hauling :) Cant do it to mutch either as you lose sec stat and soon ppl know your name.
Then i think (not sure) that Concorde hit harder in 1.0 system than in 0.5 system and maybe react diffrent in time, giving you time to do more damage before you go pop.

Kill your target before Concord arives (Concord is not instantly on the scene, and even if they would you can always make sure your alfa-strike kills your target)

CONCORD response is not instantenous. That means you have about 5 - 20 seconds (depends on system security: in 1.0 it's quicker than in 0.5) before you are ECMed, scrambled and killed by Police force. In this 5 - 20 seconds you can deal enough damage to kill someone. For example, a Thorax fitted with neutrons in hi slots and 2x mag stab and 2x tracking enhancer in lows is dealing quite nice damage. Ships with high "alpha strike" damage (a lot of damage but low rate of fire - like artillery) are even better.
Imagine there is a tech I hauler full of faction items worth let's say 500M isk (about 50% will be randomly destroyed). You kill it with a battleship which can be insured for 20M isk. You also have a hauler in your gang. You loose your battleship but get the money back from insurance. Your gangmate scoops the loot.
Voila! You made 250M isk and paid 20M + 15M in tech 1 fittings destroyed with your ship.

It's really simple, many, many people autopilot through empire every hour carrying goods in tech 1 industrials.
I use a Brutix and can kill any before concord pop me, if they're untanked in a 0.6 or less I'm often scooping the loot before concord have even spawned.
After insurance I will lose around 2-4 mill for each Brutix, the targets I go for will depend on how long I've been sitting there but never less than 100 mill in the cargo, if half survives it's easy profit. Usually I'd only go for 100 mill if I've been sitting there a little while though (30 mins). It's amazing what people do afk through empire with though, I warped to a gate last week, as I warped in a Badger 1 warped in at the same time, quick scan, over a billion ISK worth of faction and T2 loot, about 900 mill worth survived.
Not that common to see that much loot though, my average score would probably be about 150 mills of loot, more than a few have been in excess of 500 mill though.

These guys are why you should never, EVER carry more than 30-40M in an industrial, and most certainly not while AFK. If you have valuable cargo, there are a number of options.
1) Interceptor/nanoed T1 frigate (very quick to align, very little time to be scanned) 2) A nanoed Sigil (they align pretty quickly) 3) A covert ops ship. Once you master the art of the ninja-flicker, only very bad luck will kill you. 4) A nanoed Prowler (blockade runner) 5) A deep space transport fitted with so many shield extenders, resist modules, and plates that you'd have to throw dozens of battleships at it to kill it before CONCORD arrived. 6) A bloody scout and a few alternate routes 7) I'm sure a few escorts (ECM and a couple logistics ships) wouldn't go astray 8) Split the valuable stuff into several stacks, and bulk up the rest of your shipment with VELDSPAR! ------------------------------ One more soldier off to war... And one Velator in my hangars. |

9) Don't autopilot, and warp to zero instead. As was mentioned above, there are generally so many juicy targets going through one of the suicide-camped gates that it's only the autopiloted ships that will get scanned. And while it's theoretically possible that someone could scan your cargo, tot up the value of the loot, decide it's worth dying for and then put a point on you in the time you align, it's exceptionally unlikely unless the camper was very trigger-happy. If I was going to suicide someone then I'd sit on a gate and scan ships that were approaching it from 15km away, double-checking that the cargo value was high enough before engaging.
If you don't autopilot you'll be fine.

Umm, what? You couldn't even load an Itty V up with Mexallon, let alone any of the more valuable HIGHSEC minerals with that sort of limit. Pyerite at it's low to medium value from this summer, some 7-8isk/unit, would already fill your quota. And do remember that what they carry is NOT profit.
Heck, even the minerals from Plagioclase (a mix of Trit, Pyer and Mex), enough to fill up the Itty V, are worth around 60mil right now.
I won't do the math, but I bet you couldn't even load up some individually practically worthless T1 mods and have the value at 30-40 million, unless you chose the most bullky ones.
Suiciding is clearly broken at the moment, the cost of it would have to be adjusted up by a good margin before it made any sense.
OP says she looses a few mill in her Brutix. If you build your own Domi, pick a bang for the buck setup, you have a good chance of loosing *nothing*. Anybody who thinks that's not broken is nuts.
These threads always make wonder what Eve would be like without highsec, and especially without any insurance at all, for anything.

CCP can easily fix it most of the way. Just remove insurance id you get concorded. You can still make a profit ganking. But the more or less random attacks would stop.

5x heavy neutron blasters (few antimater charges)
2x LSE I 1x Invu Field 1x EM active hardner 1x Passive Targeter
1x damage control I 5x Magnetic Field Stabs
5x Heavy Explo Drones / Heavy Therm Drones
You target the victim with passive targeter, you release your drones, you active your hardners, overheat the guns (you can overheat hardners too) and start attacking the person who you want to take down xD in Jita system it takes aprox. 2-5 sec before you get jammed and CONCORDOKENED ;] gl hf Play Hard. I agree with this comment. I see no reason that Insurance should pay if you are concorded. In fact, I think CCP should make it that you don't collect on insurance if you are Concorded (for any reason) or if you are killed by someone you were flagged criminal to at the time you were killed.
Fix this and it will make "High Sec" the way it should be and PvP's and Gankers will still have Low and 0.0 to go crazy in.

It's nice that people like to fall straight into PERSONAL ATTACKS on this website. It seems to happen here a LOT more than other game sites I visit but whatever.
In the end, it doesn't matter if it's "Concord" or "Ajax Insurance Co" or whatever who collects premiums or pays out for losses... it's CCPs programming that I'm taking issue with.
There is no reason someone performing CRIMINAL ACTS (by definition in High Sec) should be financially rewarded by abusing a CCP game mechanic.
No I'm not stupid, and I'm not going to question anyone else's intelligence either. I'm just saying I think the game design is SNAFU but that's my opinion.

Um, did you ever consider the fact that concord spawns slower the lower the system security drops? Wow, so maybe the game mechanics are designed to allow for this kinda stuff? Solution? Plate down a battleship when you wanna transport high-ISK goods and go AFK.

CCP has designed this game to allow conflicts in high sec because that's what makes the game interesting. Just like in the real world, there is no guaranteed safety.
I disagree that you should lose your insurance when 'corded. Accidents happen.
I DO believe - as an "at risk" customer - your premiums should increase

To have your insurance removed for being concorded got nothing to do with any kind of carebearing as such.
But it makes it abit harder as it should to gank people. because you have to do a better job. I love how people try and defend the ganking methods currently used. But I guess they cant handle eve without running it on easymode. You are funny enough worse than the carebears

CCP encourages PvP, just look at the ideas that are floating around for the faction wars update. (more gang Pvp, etc.)
If you wanna stop giving insurance for suicide ganks, then you should stop giving insurance for anyone who loses a ship doing anything that creates an crim flag, including almost all low sec PvP. evil prevails when good men do nothing. |
