Now that torpedoes have been turned into a PVP weapon and are less effective for PVE, it seems cruise missiles are the best (and only) choice to use in missions/ratting by Caldari specialists. Could you boost their resistance against Defender missiles? All it takes is one NPC Defender missile to knock a cruise missile out. Perhaps you could make it so that 2 defenders knock a single cruise missile out. The Golem's future depends on it! Can you make it happen? What say ye?

i was wondering about this, however more from a "missile users now have the shaft DPS wise as cruises do ****ty damage".

Long range weapons usually do ****ty damage. My Mega Beams with Microwave crystals can barely kill a Sansha BS.

No one uses defenders in PVP anyway (because they suck). Might as well make cruises a viable mission running weapon for the Golem.
Otherwise you are faced with: 4 Cruises, lose 2 or 3 to defenders= much worse then base raven. 4 Torps, have trouble getting/keeping in range to use them with reduced range of torps.

I see no change needed for cruise missiles. I run missions exclusively with cruise missiles. Tried torps, but didn't care for them. If you want your cruise missiles to be more effective, train your skills up for them. :) I have never had a problem with using just cruise missiles, not even against the 2.5 million isk rat in that one mission. I say they are fine. --------------------

With cruise missiles and defenders as they are now, the golem will do quite a lot less damage than a normal t1 raven with cruise missiles.
I dont understand why any mission runner would nerf themselves to use cruise over toprs now, but to spend 10 times or so more isk on a ship that does even less damage?

I agree with you, either cruises need a buff for ratting or the golem needs a ROF bonus (preferably both).

This doesn't really solve the problem of cruise getting the short end of the stick at close range, but I'd think t2 fury ammo could use a revision.
As is, Fury does the same amount of DPS as faction cruise, has 1/4th of the range, and suffer from other penalty. It should be brought in line with other t2 long-range weapon's close range ammo tbh. -> Increase damage by ~8% (boost) -> Increase velocity, reduce flight-time (so it'll be viable in roaming gang) -> Increase the explosion radius to 280m(nerf) --- Izanagi Alliance |

All they really need to do is introduce a new "short range torpedo" launcher and skill. Leave torps alone.

One possible solution may be to reduce the NPC defender missile launchers by 1/2. This would effectively counter the 100% bonus to the Golem. In theory they would both end up cancelling eachother out, and would do so without having to come up with some other controversial solution.

the golems sucks so badly, t2 bs's are a joke as they have been made, a ship that cost the same as a cap ship and will be taken down by 2 bc's is just a joke... end of story.

Not saying that the suggestion is wrong per se (i tend to agree that defender use in high level missions borders on ridiculous), BUT there is a misconception among most people here.
NPC battleships DO NOT have a specified number of defender slots on them.
They just have a FLAT CHANCE to shoot a defender against each missile fired against them. Usually something like 20-35% IIRC.
Which means that a Golem WILL NOT be worse off than a raven as far as defenders shooting down its cruises are compared. 30% of missiles shot down is 30% of incoming missile dps, whether it's a single golem firing 4 cruises or 50 ravens shooting 300 cruise missiles, it will still be 30% shot down.
So don't sweat it, golem will be fine, at least as fine as a cruise raven is today (I hate them, but people still use them effectively so I suppose they're ok...). -----sig-----
