Same here. Lots of disconnects on the weekend, even though every other online application was working fine. Please get into touch with lln/line3 and fix it.

Wow eve-online is nothing but total baggage that I have signed up a month to play. Funny thing is though I can't even play the waste of my time and money. I have tried changing the port like this FIX said but like many other users it simply dose not work. Now I live in KS and I have AT&T as an ISP. They are about as shatty as people make CCP out to be.
I am not sure if AT&T filters **** out and just blocks the ports needed to play eve. But this problem has only been recent, recent in a sense that I have just bought the game. It's funny how the game work fine when I have trial account, but as soon as I hand over some USD the whole thing has a F****** meltdown.
Will be looking for Updates on a Solution.

I just made a new topic about my issues with no response, and seeing a lack of helpful information, or the ability to even start playing it, I'm disinclined to purchase this game beyond a free trial period, and am thoroughly disappointed thus far.
I attempted changing the port information only to find there is no CCP/EVE/settings in my Application Data folder, and I run XP. Theres also, as mentioned, no way to adjust your connection settings within title screen of the game. And now theres no way it seems I can connect to anything, before I downloaded the latest patch I could at least view the "Support" "News" and "Patch Info" tabs, now they say URL error.
I'm very frustrated and would like to just start playing this game without hassle.

Same thing as above! ^. Everything was fine until the new patch came up. Now I can't even connect, and the network advanced suggestion doesn't show a port option.
The error message says that either I do not have an internet connection (which I do, right now), or the server is down (which it is not currently) or I am connecting to the wrong port. Where can we see/modify the port we are trying to connect to?

I had the same problem. Nowhere in the described paths was a prefs.ini file.
Go to eve install folder\cache
there is your prefs.ini ... I have no clue why that is so, but mine is there ....

Well at least you get 7-8 minutes. I can't eve sometimes get fully logged in b4 I get booted. I had to buy anew router and now I can't connect. I did the change and no port box option and I can see no reponce from this in last 3 weeks so have no idea why I'm posting but out of pure frustration.

I am in the same ship, so to speak, but I have an extremely weird twist.
I get disconnected every 5-15 minutes, but my girlfriend does not?? We both just installed the Demo through Steam.
I play half a dozen multi-player games and have had my issues over the years connecting or staying connected, but this one takes the cake!
I have opened port 26000, still can't stay connected. I tried using 3724 but after editing the prefs.ini file I was not given the option at the logon screen to change port.
I am so disappointed at the moment that I can not figure this out and that I am having the same issues as others, yet have a PC that can connect using the same ISP and router as myself.

solution:
networkAdvanced doesn't matter anymore. There should be a value called Port in the prefs.ini. Its different than what is said in this thread, but changing the Port value from 26000 to 3724 worked for me. I guess they changed it and didn't inform us in this thread.

Edited by: Fuhtler on 17/03/2008 17:33:43 IŠm playing EVE for cca 1 month. From the beginning the were no problems but it started to disconnect me pretty often (sometimes every 5 minutes, sometime it didnŠt disconnect me for a few hours). Than I found this thread and started using 3724 port and everything was going well...Till new patch. With new patch problems returned and to be honest, it is really ****ing me off to be disconnected every few minutes. Probably no one has any solution but, at last, can somebody tell me in what exactly is the problem and when it will be fixed?

I'm having the same issue and the new client doesn't allow you to enter a different port.
Hopefully they fix this with the new patch on Tuesday as at the moment I haven't even been able to login to EVE to do anything.

Same issue for me. Tried changing the port number in prefs.ini or whatever it is and got a message saying files are corrupt and i must reinstall eve. Changed the port number back to 26000, and I can get to the log in screen at least but still cant stay on for longer than a minute if at all. THIS NEEDS FIXING! Will be canceling my account if not resolved soon.

I followed the directions exactly as written and when I login there is NO option to choose a port! I still get Server status unknown. Where, exactly does this port option appear?
I also tried changing the Prefs.ini file to port 3724 on the last line, replacing the 26000 that was there. I also tried port 80 and the same result Status: unknown!!!
I can log on occasionally at 3 am and at 7 am, but thats it.

Same problem, new ISP blocks 26000. When changing port number on the pref.ini I get serve status unknown. Any chance to open another port? like the one Wrangler said? Also, SSH its ok, but just ads more lag for me (I am in deep south america). Hope to hear an answer soon.

As everyone knows modifying the prefs.ini doesn't work for different ports anymore. To access eve on a different port other than 26000 modify the shortcut to this:
"C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE\eve.exe" /port:3724
This will run eve on port 3724 instead. Make sure the above path is correct for you though.

Mine still doesn't work. I'm re-subscribed and I think I'm up to date on the build etc. When I try to log in i get:
Connection Error "Could not connect to the specified address. Odds are that you have not established an internet connection, the server isn't running, or the server address or port number was wrong."
I am on the internet... I'm here aren't I? So I tried this port thing. When I change it to networkAdvanced=1 I don't get a new box to put the port into on the connect screen. I re-installed the client ad restarted my computer and all that good stuff, and so far nothing has worked. Any thoughts?

Sometimes i cant connect, but i normally can really enter at game, my problems is that i just get connection lost only being about 30-40 seconds whithout doing anything ingame. I mean, if im shooting a POS for example, or just typing at corp channel, i keep online, but if i stay afk at a safe or just camping a gate whith my fleet, i just los connection to server only 30-40 second of being doing or typing anything.
any idea wheres the problem ??

Make sure you: -Have the port configured with the EVE client as stated before. -Have the port open in your firewall, and the EVE client in the exception list. -Have the port open (forwarded) in your router, if you use one to connect to the internet (for example, if you have an ADSL connection.) If you use more than one router (for example one for ADSL and one for WiFi) make sure you have the port opened in all of them. More info about port forwarding here. If everything fails, test to see if your ISP allows the port. Use a web application to test the port, like http://www.canyouseeme.org/ or just click this link. That should discard a lot of suspects... ----

Edited by: Xer''ik Noxia on 11/06/2008 00:33:59 Dmian I tried the http://www.canyouseeme.org/ with both for 26000 it could not complete action because it timed out. For 3724 it said it was closed. Any ideas how to fix that? I'm actually so frustrated I can't express it. I re-installed the new patched version (autopatch didn't work) And it still won't work. Any more tips or ideas?
