40 Million for it??? Again, only megacorps will be able to buy them ... and I thought CCP was NOT favouring megacorps anymore :(
Are they beein sold just on markets or just being 'delivered' as drop loot?

40 million to have 5 Research agents nagging you every evening?
Also some basic questions aint yet been answered on RPM skill...
Can you initiate multiple research with the same agent if he has a selection of skills for instance?
Can you start the same research field with another agent which you are already researching?
etc.

It is a Rank 8 skill (battleship level) so I guess its supposed to be 4 million isk.
Then again the price maybe correct.

I have to admit, id buy it instantly at 40Million IF i knew that this really is the final price and there to stay.
With 5 agents nagging, i only do mission for my agent when im in the mood anyway, and have no problems just ignoring the lot (still a lot of RP a day if you have 3 or 4 of them, even if you ignore them all).
Cost efficiency and saving money? frankly, if cost efficiency mattered that much much less things would be done by much less ppl in BS (f.e. try to calculate the break even point of mining in a BS in safe space compared to a thorax, its insane). Its all about fun and your style (though i fail to see the fun in BS strip mining in 1.0, but alas ppl differ)

So, for ships we have enforced specialisation by high skill training costs and rarity of construction (interceptors) and now for research we have enforced specialisation by high skill training cost and the sheer cost of the new skill.
Not that I disagree, mind you, but I would guess this will force the skill purchase into the larger corps or the very specialised researchers. It does seem rather house of cards though; buy this skill for a lot to try to get a BPO which you can use with increasingly rare components which can only be gained from people doing missions they find boring (at the moment) or from people requesting you build the items, etc...
Despite training most of the skills up for this, I think I will end up giving it a miss... for the simple reason that I already hate seeing the 'feed me' mail from my current research agent every day, and I am not sure that I could cope with three of them :(
It would appear to have been foolish to try researching Rockets :)

They are sold on the market, by npcs, lots of them.
About that megacorp thing, i think it evens it out a bit for research characters, quite to the contrary of your opinion.
Many combat oriented types have at least one of the skills needed for research at 5, meaning it takes a maximum of 2 weeks training time to get half decent RP/day (there are even low quality lvl2 agents with skills at 3 out there). Some imagined megacorp could easily have a few dozen ppl not spending any time or real effort on research ammasing a huge heap of RP for the corp.
A single person geared towards research could only try to compete by doing the daily mission, the top training time and resources you could efficiently dedicate to research was very low.
With the skill being rank 8 and at a cost of 40 million, you can spend more training time and resources to get ahead if you plan to have a research oriented character, and singlehandedly produce more RP than half a dozen ppl of above imagined corp.
I dont know how many corps want to spend 40 million each on ppl not having lvl3 agents or that much spare training time.

The price is as intended - insanely high.
We try not to "unfavour" megacorps either btw. not that this is a megacorp only solution, as many who have bought the skill have already pointed out.
If you aren't serious about it, don't buy it.

Now all the MEGA corps that already have 10 members doing R&D will buy the skills and instead of getting 10 Bps will get 40Bps (or maybe more)

This is favouring the bigger corps/rich players pricing it this way - whether they are 40mil or 4 mil they will still be bought by the big teams. Poor/small corps don't have a chance.
Just my opinion. Please reduce the cost.

10 members doing RD, if they buy 10 skills do you know how much money it will cost? Simple maths, 400 million isk. What do you think a mega corp will do? buy 10 skills or use the money on other things? It's very hard to tell, but stop trolling without any basis. |
