Here are a couple of ideas that immediately spring to mind:
Clone appearance: There is some ethical reason to have your clone be identical to yourself. Perhaps, though, you could slip some extra to the technician and get a clone that looks different. It might leave a trail, though, that a dedicated investigator could follow.
Plastic surgery: Similar thing, here. Readily available plastic surgery would be available for some price, but there would be records of the appearance change that someone could easily check out (including before & after pictures). More expensive surgery would be available from people who won't make the change public record - you'd have to pay an investigator to find this out.
Identity change: Going all out, you pay someone to forge a new identity for you. I imagine that identity is tied to your DNA or some other such thing in order to make an identity practically impossible to do. Maybe for a vast sum of money, though, someone would do it for you in a way that is difficult, at best, to trace.
I understand the desire to prevent people from exploiting this sort of thing, but look at it. Most of this stuff is available in the real world today, so why wouldn't it be available in the world of Eve? It makes things more interesting. Take this story as an example:
Clint McBad spends a couple of months worming his way into the trust of the CEO and board of directors of Large(tm) corp. In a swift strike he manages to empty the corp wallet as well as clearing out the hangars from several Large(tm) offices before someone finds out and removes his access. Large(tm) corp then puts a bounty on Clints head, prompting Clint to go on the lam. Clint pays a visit to a black market plastic surgeon, paying an unholy amount of money to have both his appearance and identity changed.
At the same time, Large(tm) corp figures that Clint might do something of the sort. They hire the services of Stephanie Pear, a private investigator. Stephanie, using her high Investigator skill, traces Clint to the black market surgeon. She then uses her high *****ing and Infiltration skills to access the records of Clints identity change, getting his new name and picture. She talks to her local agent and gets a fix on Clints location. She sends all of this back to Large(tm), who make a call and send in the bounty hunters.
Sounds like a big pile of fun to me!

I think being able to "take a new photo" of your character every few months would be nice. Just changing the pose, clothing, expression and environment, but leaving the facial features intact.
So, there they are, my two isk on the subject.

Corp theft and trust is a enough huge problem as it is. Sure fun idea but would only get greifers to play more if you would would change identity.. What about employment records? Forged so ALL directors/CEOs must check ALL corporations EVERY applicant has been in just to make sure they aren't frauds? Corp management is lousy as it is and this would make is worse..
I do agree that the twist is cool, but sorry.. won't work in EVE.. isk is life and if a corp lose all isk most probably all non-superdedicated will leave instead of continue and CCP don't want that.
Instead when large bounty is placed on your head all cloning contracts should be rewoked without a refund. No honest(tm) corp would associate itself with a pirate/theif aso and what better way to punish a pirate then let them have this brand for life! *smile* Would make people think once and twice before becoming a pirate! |

Why should pirates have to take all risks, miners can just stand in 0.5 for at least two more months.
Keep on flaming, lamers.

yeah as long as there was a limit as to how often you could do it (like with the clones) i think it would be nice, although i dunno about changing facial structure.

Quote: Well, one concern would be that the only reason why Eve portraits look so unique is the different lighting and background options!
(apart for Caldari, they really all look alike)
Hey, I'm Caldari but I like to pretend I'm unique I actually like my looks and I agree with you that lightning really is a major factor in the 'uniqueness' of a character.

The concept of keeping your character's actual face (via the model that you created) while being able to change the background and enviroment is a very cool one. Simply being able to change the lighting, angle at which the picture is taken, and background would bring a nice change every once in a while.
Say, for example, that this ability was granted to every player every three months or so in the name of needing to update their ID (think of it as a Driver's License).

Sure, I'd like to change the way I look, this guy looks like a weakling... but lightning would also be good if that would be the only possibility, I don't like the blue stuff. :)
Why not just put a name list of a char like the "Employments" tab in the Character Info ?
Good night, sweet prince. |
