2003.12.17 05:44 Please be aware that pirate spawns are far more powerful now. DO NOT under any circumstances hunt alone in Stain until you are comfortable and aware of the new mechanics. Experienced pilots have already lost ships... With the current war on we cannot afford to lose ships unwisely. Thanks.
2003.12.20 06:15 Due to the issues we have been facing in Stain since patch, we are temporarily reopening Shemah on a limited basis. We will be setting up buy orders, will accept bs ore, and have limited manufacturing. This is until we get more information on what actions, if any, CCP will take regarding the current issues such as lack of high ends in Stain and insane spawns.
2003.12.20 02:02 I wanted to drop you all a line to drive home a point I have been trying to make since the day after the patch. At last count we have lost 10 battleships to NPC spawns... To put this into perspective... Best case total ISK value of ships lost: ISK399,719,880 This is assuming everyone was in a Scorpion. It does not take into account any modules lost. The figure is realisticly going to be closer to ISK750,000,000 considering ship differences and equipment losses. Most of these losses we in situations involving 3 or more armed BSs with experienced pilots. This is serious people. It is a different game now. While we are working out a solution to the problem please be patient and do not throw your ships away. Please just stay out of Stain belts. You might as well self destruct outside the station. At least that way you can get your can... There is an HC meeting first thing in the AM. A solution will be found then. Respectfully, Sidus High Council EV
Also wondering if anyone else has some old school banter that would be interesting, rather than the usual smackfest/propaganda the forums are being used for now.

Oooh, I still remember the thread discussing the real introduction of tracking.
I still remember people screaming "My 1400 howies can't hit a frigate orbiting? WTF?"
I'd go search for it but meh...

Yea I took a break from eve due to college and lack of money come back and I could not hit a frig in my bs, I was mortified. lol. Guess I'm missing the old days. Eve seemed so much more fun then. I have been drifting from place to place since I came back. This time I'm training while I'm busy so when I get to play more again I won't cry at the sp I missed gaining.

That certainly was not the issue in this case. The tracking thing was half a year later.
The quotes in the topic is from the Castor patch, when BS NPCs was first introduced. That was the real deal, a big difference compared to now: A typical NPC spawn in a belt could feature up to 20 NPCS along the lines of 3-4 BS, 6+ cruisers and 10 frigates. Second, BS NPC could warpscramble and web from ~35km range. And in those days, 50km was very long range (compare to like 150km today).
NPC spawns were then heavily nerfed just a week or two later in the fix patch.
Ahhh, the good old days. Am I forced to have any regret? I've become the lie, beautiful and free In my righteous own mind I adore and preach the insanity you gave to me |

Edited by: CARY on 30/10/2007 02:05:36 Oh Yeah I remember the old Stain Days well....I was with Everlasting Vendetta and it was once a great mining region until CCP killed the fields there and we left. Stain became a Ghost Town really. Yeah i remember the BS spawn and yes 10 Mil was a goods amount of chat, but I always been a rich miner, lol.
Oh yeah how well I remember the Good Old days. Omega was the bad boys, Evolution was once the good guys (BOB now), the old Curse Alliance mainly dead, as well as the Old Stain alliance. Now I look around and see a totally different EVE world from 4 years ago. Some good thing some not so good but over all the game is GREAT, CCP from day one till now, If i was to great CCP and the game of EVE..I would give you a A++, I remember when 5000 people was only that was a lot of people nit i see as high as 34,000. CCP you come alone way with EVE. I know we all b*itch about many things in the game but CCP you really get an A++, wonder what this gam will look like 4 more years from now?
be Nice to see a Large OLD Guy Corp 3+ yrs....that would be sweet. Guys that started with eve with no skill points but earn them. ALL ahould avg. about 45 mil to 55 mil skill point by now.

Yea twas fun back then, chain gangs and hamster balls of cans.
I remember watching 1 ursurfer tear apart about 6 battleships.
Warping to a belt and finding 1/2 the serpentis army piloting omgwtf fast uber raxs of death really did upset the miners.
I miss that

If you haven't experienced a chaining where about a dozen people fired relentlessly at waves and waves of NPCs with cans littering the screen, so that you were barely able to see the background, you have missed out something from EVE - definitely. A slight mistake, one ship that (accidentally) ventured too close to the respawn point or an NPC that survived too long could spell doom to the chainers. I have seen it happen, more than once, and to experienced people. And that was months after Castor. Ah, yeah, and sometimes it wasn't even possible to stop the spawning without some additional "muscle".
I started two weeks or so after castor hit TQ, and I heard from a lot of "vets" that they were quitting. Apparantly some things never change
Also I loved the static spawns. Some of them, like the one in Miroitem, were a spectacular sight.
Good days, definitely. Shield tanked Armageddon... hahaha

I remember when they first introduced the honor system, but before they brought in the battlegrounds.. everyone used to just gather in um what was the name of that place.. umm, fukken hillsbrad foothills yeah, and both sides would spend all day pushing each other back and forth between the mill and the harbor. Good times, good times.

I remember the time pre castor, when SA reallocated systems, and OC/Ota started a civil war. Then about 3 weeks later Stain lost all it's bistot. Was hilarious.
On a side note, we have a thread going on our forum where someone posted 3 year old alliance chat logs :P
And i remember, about 3 months ago someone linked a screenshot of the first CA vs SA blob fight in u-q that crashed the server.
Btw, pre bs spawns people made isk by chaining 50k (?) cruiser rats, and they were rare and the highest bounty. The best you could find was a 4x 50k spawn..... but you could chain that in the same belt for hours, and the respawn rate would increase the quicker you killed the ships. Remember spending 2 hours in industrials and frigs to gather the loot of a chaining session? I do!
