I agree with CCP on this one, any ship that doesn't conform to its intended use is broken and needs to be fixed, preferably with a heavy swing from the nerf bat. Carriers are the worst offenders but there are many others, thanks OP for pointing out several of them. With any luck they'll all be not just nerfed back into there proper rolls but nerfed into near uselessness just to make sure it never happens again.

And i alwaise thought the point of being allowed to fit your own ship how you want was so that you cou;d do what you want with it i mean hell if you want every ship to do ONLY what it was supposed to do get rid of the fitting system and moduals and have built in moduals that dont change ever so t1 ships can have t1 moduals built in and t2 ships can have t2 moduals built in that specifically only do thier job. wouldint eve be so much fun then

The issue is simple. Sure, you can fit a ship how you like, but certain ships excel at some things while others at others, no matter how you fit them. CCP obviously isn't going to take away the possibility of carriers hauling items (it will still have a sizable corp hangar as well as the normal cargo bay) completely, just reducing it to a level in line with their intended role.
On the other hand, I don't really like CCP's current fix for the issue; it seems too artificial to me.
