Save our Interdictors: We all know, CCP has been trying a balance (nerf ) alot of the ships in the game. some of the nerfs have been making some of the ships 'more in line' with other ones of their class. We probably don't agree with them all. but at least theres some method to their madness... sometimes
With the Interdictor speed reduction, they are effecting the whole class of ships. not 'just' one ship, for example, the Eos or Myrm.
Slowing down Interdictors is going to make it very difficult to bubble hostile fleets without getting insta-jibbed when approaching them.
With the introduction of the Hyena, interdictors are in alot of trouble, even a maulus/Keres and any webbing inty will make short work of a interdictor... or even two intys, or one webbing inty and a sniping BS, or a vaga, or a nano/beam/zealot... if you havent noticed, dictors are easy to kill, once webbed, and now.. they are much much easier to get a web on them.
With the interdictor speed nerf, my current Rapier can outrun a basic T2'd dictor. not to mention, i can get a hyena going much faster than even a sabre, and can web it from a safe 20km away.
this isn't saying Sabres are overpowered either and that they should be the one nerfed, the Flycatcher has many mid slots it can use for Ewar (good for small gangs), the heretic is actually only around 7% slower than the Sabre when using all low slots for speed mods and can fight outside of web range (wich is how it should be fitted). don't nerf any of the dictors, just give that poor Eris a little love.
An Interdictor has two roles, race towards the hostile fleet, and bubble them. and/or kill off hostile Intys.. but how can dictors have any chance of catching them now.
Interdictors, are already on average 25% (or more) slower than interceptors. but in order to survive they MUST be faster than other support ships ex. cruisers, assault frigs, hacs
Although I forsee the impending doom for nano hacs, on sisi, hacs can now keep up, or outrun Interdictors... not giving them much of a chance to do anything productive.
with a 25% speed reduction, even IF they gave dictors hac resists, it wont help, because a speed fitted dictor, with resists, is still a dead dictor once webbed.
Also, with the boost to the cap problems on interceptors, they wont need to fit cap power relays, leaving them even more low slots to speed fit.
Please, do not nerf our interdictors, many people out there and myself included are hardcore Dictor pilots. I fly my sabre/heretic 95% of my time in Eve. they are great ships and hard to keep alive. They've always done their job, they are not broken (eris not included :P) please do not change them! I do not have interest in other ships in Eve, and I dont feel like loosing a Dictor everytime I enter battle. I am sure it wouldn't take long for me to loose my interest in Eve-Online if this change goes through

I am not sure why CCP has been introducing changes they way they have lately. They make a dev blog about a carrier nerf out of the blue and get a huge uproar started. Just a normal post on the forum or even a reply to a thread about carriers suggesting these changes and asking for community feedback would've saved them that headache.
Then they start doing these things on sisi. They have other internal servers to brainstorm new ideas / changes and see how they work in game. If they do something on sisi (which is considered where players get to test changes before they go live) they should at least mention what they have in mind and the reasons behind it. Hell, they could even mention that the change is just something they are experimenting with to keep from raising so many alarm bells.
CCP, when you start to introduce changes to the game be a little more tactful about it. There are things you can do between no information whatsoever and a dev blog.
As far as this interdictor change that people are talking about on sisi, I don't understand the basis. Are they redoing speed across the board? Do they think interdictors are going too fast? If so, then what is going to be the difference between the heavy interdictor and the normal interdictor if the normal one is slow? Is the normal interdictor getting compensated in some way for taking away its main defense?
CCP, a stitch in time saves nine. Let us know what you're thinking.

I dunno about you guys, but I don't think dictors should generally be as fast like interceptors. Dictors are like super tacklers and only type of ship (Besides heavy interdictor?) that can hold down a super capital ship. I know CCP have several reason why, which I am much likely to agree the nerf.
They did post reason on Carrier nerf, and the whole disagreement on the nerf is somewhat gone now. Which probably means that most people agree with that. So, if those people agree, they will agree on the dictor nerf and probably other nerfs or buffs they did. -----------------------------------

Some dictors are pretty fast, but to say they are as fast as interceptors means either all the sabre pilots you fly against have got snakes or polycarbs or gistii's fitted. Which is an unfair comparison to make.
If I normally speedfit my sabre, with accell control 4, I get 4.7k/s out of it, any ceptor I fit is at least 6k/s, and faster ceptors like the claw are 7k/s+.
As it is, when you drop a bubble at the moment, your speed goes to 0, which means if the enemies have a 'on the ball' drake or caracal pilot which keep missiles in the air after you, as soon as you drop that bubble, you explode due to the 20 missiles in the air that have just all hit you at once.
Heavy neuts also kill you pretty fast as well, as do most vagabonds. In my experience most vagabonds I have come across have been faster then the sabres I have run into, obviously because people do spend more money on them, and really its not such a big deal to fit a polycarb rig on a 95mil ship, compared to a 30mil ship. And a vagabond is a lot more survivable then a sabre. 1-2 vagabonds wandering around makes your average dictor pilots mission suicide.
Really the only thing saving dictors atm in fleet fights, is lag. So nerf lag.
*edit* carrier whiners, sit a neut BS, a missile spammer or a vagabond/huginn near your mom/carrier and you are basically dictor proof. And really, if your cap ship is going down, you have been outblobbed, and if you want an i-run button that gets you out of any situation, then you should probably play a different game. Having a 30bn isk ship, shouldn't compensate for ****ty intel/not having enough friends.

I wouldn't even care so much if it was a modest change, but CCP always tends to do these shipbreaking changes, 25% speed reduction, what the f*** really. On top of that, giving no reason for it whatsoever. No one complained about dictors. The Sabre is on the fast side and I could understand an overall 5% speed reduction (except for the Eris), which will already matter alot.
Now I can sort of understand making room for the new interceptors, but here's some news for you, there are already a load of interceptor pilots and people fly them all the time and people were already very excited about their change. It's easy to get into and the prereqs are all useful skills already. On the other hand you have dictors, there are not that many dictor pilots in the first place and now you will discourage it even further because of their total lack of survivability.
I for one won't be flying them anymore if it means getting beaten up by any speedfitted hac, any inty that can EASILY chase me down now from a distance (they already could but it took a while), any hyena that can just web me at 20km, on top of the rapier/huginn. I just can't afford losing ships in basically any fight that has a competent pilot on the other side, especially since they are ALWAYS primary.
Maybe CCP should try to get in touch with their own game again, talk with some 0.0 alliance people and see how hard it is already to get a dictor in your gang.

Thing is with current dictor speeds sabre is IMMUNE to heretic because its... too fast. It will outrun rockets and when heretic fits rocket velocity rgs then sabre can just outrun heretic itself.
With speed nerf for all dictors suddenly sabre becomes vulnerable to heretic rockets when both run polycarbon setups.
As for nerf: i dont mind it. Its very good move to actually remove all "solo-snake-winners" and force em to fly in gangs. Also i guess nerfbat is hanging just above vagabond's head now.
EDIT: as for fighting in web range: no it doesnt have to. At 13-14km it still has abt 90dps, which is way enough to kill all dictors and smaller ships.

In order to do dmg a sabre has to be within 10km from you, that usually means they are doing i'd say roughly 4-5km/s. All you do is web him, he slows down a hell of a lot, and also he doesn't have any tank because he is speed fitted... easy.

Agreed. This is a nerf that is completely uncalled for on a class that's already pretty pitiful. For the training required, the cost involved and the sacrifices made in other areas, there's nothing wrong with these ships. If anything, they needed a buff ffs. You think it's a good idea that they pop a bubble they can't get out of themselves? =P

Moral of the story is: i fly gistii sabre with polys: 7,2km/s. Killed abt 300 targets never lost one unless i opted for it (yes up to date i lost 2 sabres: 1 afk on gate, second by engaging deimos in fleet battle inside his web range). Except for those 2 deaths i was never even CLOSE to being dead. And that includes tackling vagas/rapiers/huginns.
And no sabre doesnt NEED to be within 10km. Dunno what you have been smoking or what pilots fighting if they enter web range with sabre. Sabre has 10km faloff on guns, 13-14km effective range with 90dps (more-less) using barrage. 90 dps is enough to break most cruiser tanks because they arent stable. It just takes time... For bs its just faster to tackle it and call in support. But anything smaller than cruiser is dead.
Also i orbit at 14km with 5,5-6km/s so thats fast enough to evade even cruiser guns. Missiles? At those speeds they dont do jack to you.
So more practise less theory. Flown dictors for long enough to know how they work and how not to die...

They aren't Frig killers, they are warp interdictors, they drop bubbles and they do that job well (still).
They are expensive (comparatively) so they shouldn't die right away so the speed was useful for keeping them alive long enough to get them out / engage with other ships / etc. The Sabre however is a top-flight solo PVP ship, it can currently lay the WTFOMGPWN to a crow in no time flat and can destroy virtually any cruiser with ease in a relatively cheap (comparatively) t2 fitting.....

Besides with Heavy Interdictors on the horizon the basic dictors are pretty much outclassed. Their only niche, being able to move into a hostile fleet fast, is getting nerfed making them utterly useless.

Flown dictors for long enough to know how they work and how not to die...
laugh, i'd love to see this "13/14km effective range with barrage, infact i just tested it and no surprise to me, it didn't do what you said it did.
Ask any of your alliance mates what ship i fly some will know, so enough with the "more practice less theory" BS. expected smarter things from a tri pilot, then i realized you were in for only 3 months.
Also, lol at the "tackling vaga's/huggies/rapiers, anyone with a brain should be able to kill you. meaning all your accounts must be against random noobs.

You mean you didnt do damage at all? Surprising coz thats how i always attack and thats how i always kill people.

And what has my alliance to do with how i fly stuff? I could sit in noobcorp (like i did for quite a while - you can check it in same alliance history) and still get pretty nice amount of kills. Same in RZR or CELES.
Also, lol at the "tackling vaga's/huggies/rapiers, anyone with a brain should be able to kill you. meaning all your accounts must be against random noobs.
Surprise: 90% of eve "pvpers" are "random noobs". Already seen hugins dying to solo sabre or vagas having problem shaking off malediction (thats from outbreak killboard mind you, where OB was piloting vaga).
Still doesnt matter what i kill - know how to kill and when to run. And the part "when to run" is way too easy on sabre atm. Like i said: unless i WANT to die i will not die, because only way to catch sabre is to catch it in bubble (drag from warp) - and you can evade those trap easily (scanner 4tw).
Anyways its enough to check your k/d ratio and how many sabres did you lose. Grand 1. For 2xx kills. It speaks for itself: either you are hunting noobs or sabre is too good.

Max skilled Sabre has close to 13km falloff...
Huginns or Vagas can have problems with interceptors, as soon as you leave the theoretical world of best case scenarios. --------------- ∞ TQFE

Really, they could do this in a way that only affects the hyper wealthy abusers - nerfs on implants and insane mods/rigs. This would leave most dictors unaffected, and fix the problem at the insane end.
Attacking these problems at the base, the ship specs, is 1) Heavy handed - penalises everyone even those who play in the spirit of the game 2) Clumsy - it will have side effects that could render an entire class obsolete - retrospectively at a great waste of SP training.
nerf some rigs and implants and you are addressing the 'problem' (assuming you acknowledge it even exists).
Make rig stacking penalties twice as bad as normal mod stacking, for example. Stack nerf implants and rigs that do the same things.

As a fan of the Sabre I'm of course not happy about this. The ship needs speed to get in position, it needs speed to get out of the bubble when needed. It needs speed to catch stuff flying out of the bubble and it needs speed to stay alive as it doens't tank too well under sustained fire.
Being a paper thin ship and prone to being in the middle of the bubble when it drops one I thought the Sabre was a well balanced craft. In all honesty I don't understand the reasoning for the change.
Why does CCP feel the need to slow Dictors down? They still get outrun by a fair number of frigates and can be matched on speed by quite a few cruisers. Not only that but they are close range vessels. That is where you want speed and agility. Especially on Matari ships, the Matari thing is versatile damage types and fast ships.
Instead of making everything flatter why not boost something else? How about a T2 Burst? But the question at the front of my mind is why? why hobble dictors? why does CCP think dictors need to be slower?

as would i, it would be nice if ccp at least wrote a short blog on 'why' they think these changes would be a good idea, so people can at least try to understand their point of view.... regardless, no matter what they said, a direct nerf to dictors doesnt accomplish anything cept a bunch of p'offed pilots _________________________________________________________ Only once you've lost everything, are you free to do anything.
