I had a alt named Futtbucker once and it got changed by a GM.
Why are people able to use S******dly (******dly) as corp names when Futtbucker and the other 2 are not even words?
http://evevault.ign.com/
^^ sence the filter works on this corps name goto the site above to see it. I am not gonna mask and say it. I find it offensive.
I expect this corp named that to be changed ASAP.. to Corp44567890
Is this word offensive just because it gets censored? I think not. -- (Battle hardened industrialist)

Ok so then why is the word filtered here? btw, ******edly is not a word!
it is easyly a play on a racialy offensive word.
S****** is a word. It's very common in the UK. It's only offensive if you are the person being s******ed at. -- (Battle hardened industrialist)

Meh. The world isn't short of cats. Could probably benefit from a cull. Arrogant, wilful creatures that treat the entire world as their toilet. -- (Battle hardened industrialist)

so can they make a corp name with s******?
Everyone knows this is a play on ******
cause s******dly is not a word in any dictionary in the world!
Everyone does not know that. People that are in possession of the facts (and those that can be bothered to follow the link I posted) show that it probably dates back to the 18th century. The dictionaries I checked give an approximate date of 1706. ****** OTOH appears to have appeared nearly a hundred years later. -- (Battle hardened industrialist)

Everyone does not know that. People that are in possession of the facts (and those that can be bothered to follow the link I posted) show that it probably dates back to the very early 18th century. The dictionaries I checked give an approximate date of 1706. ****** OTOH appears to have appeared nearly a hundred years later. Even then it wasn't considered particularly offensive until very recently.
The rhyme 'Ten Little Indians' wasn't originally called that and society in general didn't think that the original version was offensive.
Especialy with the UK's history of slavery. Yeah , I wonder how good that would hold up in court?
It wouldn't even come to court. Laws cannot be applied retrospectively.
Or perhaps you didn't understand my point? Words change over time. The point I was making was that 's******' predates '******'. Furthermore neither word was originally considered offensive. The fact that one word has since become offensive and even in some contexts illegal has no baring on the other word.
Or are you going to ban 'twit' on the grounds that in some countries with a change of vowel it is considered vulgar slang for female genitalia? As another example of how stupdid 'censorship by spelling' is - that same word in the UK is generally considered to be a variation of 'twit'. The vulgar has been consiged to history. -- (Battle hardened industrialist)
