Finally ATi is going to fix this problem!
Catalyst 4.5 Known Issues :
Quote: *Launching EVE Online under Windows XP with an ATI RADEONÖ 8500, 9100, or 9200 series results in a VPU recover error before the terms and conditions is displayed. This issue will be resolved in an upcoming CATALYSTÖ release.
I hope they will incorporate the fix in 4.6! ---

This is great news Lets hope the fix makes it into 4.6. What you salvage is not mine, but what I mine is not for you to salvage! |

as far as ATI, why is it so dang hard to get any "real" support without having to pay for it. i'm sure there is enough people having this problem that they would think about fixing it much much faster.
hopefully 4.5 will fix the corrupt graphics when running in window mode with two accounts up. I mean you log into each account seperately under diferent windows and different passwords, so how the heck does it get these splash graphics when in window dual account mode. should be any problems with seperate sign ins and windows.
if someone thinks your a arse, they prolly have a perception problem they can't see.

Edited by: Deus XI on 23/05/2004 06:49:14 Im running ATI Radion 9700Pro and this happens quite often when U have other games running on same comps,or if U have 2 instances of eve running and U switch between them too fast or if eve-online network is lagging when U try to switch between the eve apps.

** FIX ** (of a kind)
I just downloaded the trial and tried to play it and was greeted with the same blurry, unreadable text login screen with the music playing in the background as has been described here. I have a Radeon 9600 pro with the latest Catalyst 4.9 drivers installed. I made sure I had the latest of all DirectX (9.0c)/ VIA Hyperion (get the chipset drivers as per your motherboard) which are very important.
So! I was about to attempt to enter the world of Eve Online only to be balked at the very login screen. I checked the forums and while it is a known issue, there was no answer to the problem. Heres what I did:
Disable Anti-aliasing and Anisotropic filtering (check application preference if there is no option to completely disable).
When you install the game it leaves an icon on the desktop. If you dont have one make a shortcut of Eve.exe from your installation directory.
Right click the shortcut and choose the Compatibility tab.
Put a check in the box: Run this program in compatibility mode for: and select Windows 98 / Windows ME from the list.
Click OK - run the game.
Of course if you are running Windows 98 or Windows ME you wont have this option and your problem is harder than I thought. But this worked for me, you will get a windowed version of the game so hit Alt-Tab to make it full screen.
I hope this helps some of you out there, I have yet to even enter the world of Eve Online, but now I should be able to!
Let us know how you do,
Jay
