nope no one has heard a thing don't think devs even know about this problem unanswered petitions for nigh on 3 weeks now but irts ok ccp get loads of revenue from isk and macro farmers why should they give a **** about a small minority 'to them' of legit players that can no longer play. it's like all companys ie ea and soe they start making a bit of money it goes to there head they hop in the porsches and ferraris and **** the game and players im rich!
Yesterday received a reply for my petition:
2007.11.25 16:50:00 GM Xamother ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hi,
Could you please run the game with logserv running and make the game crash and send us the logserv file and the crash dump file. Reproduction step are very important part of the report. Write exactly what you did to make the problem happen. This will help the programmers see where the problem is, and hopefully make it happen on their own computers. Reproduction steps are required for your report to be useful, even if you have attached logs to your report.
Using the logserver (to minimize problems with this, its recommended that you either restart your computer or check Task managers process list for unresponsive instances of Eve.exe)
1. Find your Eve folder in Windows Explorer 2. When you have the Eve folder open, find "logserver.exe" and launch it (Do NOT have EVE running) 3. Select "File" -> "New Workspace" 4. Start Eve like you would normally do 5. When you have reproduced the bug, Eve crashes or when you kill the process if it hangs, select "File" -> "Save workspace as..." and save the workspace in a place you'll find it again.
Finding the crashdump
1. Locate folder "C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Local Settings\Application Data\CCP\EVE" 2. Find the .dmp file with the most recent time stamp. Files called #error*.txt are useless.
Could you please upload the files by login into http://support.eve-online.com/Pages/Petitions/MyPetitions.aspx and locating this petition from there.
Best regards, Senior GM Xamother EVE Online Customer Support
Will try it tonight.

Edited by: azarij on 26/11/2007 16:54:12 Hi again,
It looks like there is a solution for the issue we all are experiencing. Received this from CCP support today: Hi,
The connection log you sent us, seems to be clean (no packet loss). Could you please try and join the ingame help channel (as this is an active channel) and see if that prevents you from losing connection to the server?
Thank you for your patience in this matter and please accept our apologies for the inconvenience.
Best regards, Senior GM Xamother EVE Online Customer Support
Joined the Help channel. Playing for 2+(!!!) hrs without a crash/disconnection. Try it guys. Please note that I don't guarantee it will work for you. It works for me at the moment. Good luck!
UPD: god damn it! while I was writing this post the game crashed =) Probably you need to play constantly while joined to the help channel without leaving the game in AFK and/or ALT+TABbing to other apps...

Darth Nerf: thanks for the advice, man. however, imho, the support people should be accountable not only before the individual they suggested some tricks to (me, in this case) but also before everyone who pays them money to play the game they developed. regarding the firewall/ping plotter/etc. I also got the suggestion from the support. the firewall is not my case. connected directly to a cable modem. sent them the pingplotter file. they replied that the connection is clean and suggested to join the help channel. did that with quite inconclusive results (see my previous message from 16:53 today). eventually joined to the Russian channel (400+ participants). again 2 hrs without a crash. it looks like the channels (constant chatter there) keeps the connection alive. can anyone confirm the above works for you?

got the following:
For some players changing the connecting port to 3724 instead of the normal 26000 port has resolved the issue.
In order to use port 3724, it will be necessary to open your C:\Documents and Settings\%USERNAME%\Local Settings\Application Data\CCP\EVE\settings folder if you use XP or C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE\settings if you use VISTA.
Edit the PREFS.INI file. Please change the networkAdvanced=0 to networkAdvanced=1. You will notice that the Eve logon screen will now have a PORT option. Please type in 3724 into the box and connect as normal.
trying it now. so far no crashes...
