Maybe some of you should try investing a few bucks in a new PC for new games, since some of you have really OLD PCs and you can't expect a game that uses latest technology (DX9) running well on a PC that is from the stoneage. And to those who seem to have nice PCs, maybe your drivers or settings suck. You can improve performance much with right BIOS/Drivers settings and sometimes a older driver is better suited for your card than the latest one! RAM helps much too and is a cheap upgrade.
Mine is almost 2 years now (1.8XP, Radeon 8500, 512MBDDR) and I still can play very good. I have a bit lag when it comes to fleets in Window Mode and I can easily play on TQ and CHAOS at a time. Maybe some of you should try to switch to FASTEST in their device driver options of there Graphicscard (ATI and nVidia offer this).
There's options to turn off sound, which I'm sure everybody uses at some point. Is that turning EVE into a mute game? No, it's simply an OPTION available to you for when you don't/can't use sound.
I'm not saying turn EVE into a black screen with brackets, just let players have the option to tone down the particle effects to suit their gameplay. In large battles, I don't need for my computer to load drones booster particle effects.
I can't even SEE my own drones aside from the brackets, so why load it?
When a ship is 30km away from me, I can't see it use it's shield hardeners, why render it? I can't see it's engine boosters, why render it? I don't need to see my ships own shield hardeners, why not an option to disable it?
When you have large scale fights in EVE, it cripples your computer, server lag and client lag, I don't care how good your computer is, it does it to everyone. We NEED these options, there's no way around it.
CCP can optimize all they want, for many many people the best option is to turn off particle effects and always will be.
Absolutely spot on. I'm much more used to 1v1 than fleet battles, so I like to keep my pretty particle effects. However, I do understand the need in fleet battles to be ABLE to turn them off. The key choice here is options. Just give us the tools ccp, we'll finish the job. ---------------------------
