FLA should not be retired. In all honesty the alliance should be thriving right now. I loved FLA and what we stood for. I put everything i had on the line in its defence and regret nothing. When we lost dek i personaly had -500mill. Day in and day out i fought for our home and our ideals along with countless others. Yes i agree that the people you gave credit for worked their ass's off to do the best they could for the alliance. (ocara is my favorite nubbins of all time i miss you ) But you are leaving out all the true members that made FLA what it is and why it has fallen.
If there was one person that could be given the reason we held out so long against MC and their muppets its Bobby Atlas. He lead gangs everynight, got us ganks, commanded fleets, ran the pos's and organized the defence but he gets no credit. The deathnail of FLA was driven home with the decision to remove him from the alliance. You are also forgeting the countless others that put their heart and soul out for the alliance. Pilots such as Goca, Con, weeble, other mickey and so many others that contributed to the survival. You are also leaving out IRON who up till the MC invasion was there for us at every turn untill the point when they could not fight anylonger. My old corp ARBL that put up half the active FLA cap fleet with our 2 chimeras. Also we had maybe 10 active members at any given time and was still in the top 3-10 for kills. God damn it i miss those days so much.
Your leadership lead to the demise of the alliance. I dont say this in any mallice twords you. You had to make tough decisions and i respect you for it but you continualy made the wrong choices. Now something i held very dear to my heart is finaly gone and it is a very sad day for the eve community. My goal was to return home when new leadership and the alliance was headed back in the right place. that is gone now.
To all the former FLA pilots i would like to say that it was an honor to fly with you and its a sad day to see our former home finaly fall. I wish you all good luck and many kills.
You finaly killed it
I agree with a lot in this post. In my opinion Bobby Atlas was pretty crucial to the defense of Deklein and I thought Di-tron leaving hurt the FLA badly.
From what I can tell Di-tron left because they thought they could have a better life in EvE forging a different path then with the FLA. At least as it existed at that time.(Immediately post-Deklein.) After hanging with it for the greater part of a year after you left the rest of the FLA more or less has come to the same conclusion. Not without a little recrimination and not unilaterilly.
Quote: My goal was to return home when new leadership and the alliance was headed back in the right place. that is gone now.
Personally I wish you, Di-tron, hadn't left in the first place. The FLA might not be entering the history books if you had stayed. Though having done so telling the rest of us we should not have seems kind of odd.

Ahh miss your wisdom Dastommy and thoose drunken late night fights in Dek.
I will say just the whole insident left a bad taste in everyones mouth after that bad enough knowing we were going to have are buts kicked by MC but to also have the stupid anticks while it was all going on was bad.
It was some of the funnest times i have had in eve and Bobby is one hell of a FC when the odds are down and all as you can do is charge with a bamboo stick . When through 4 or 5 ships a night and still would have kept goign until MC came in wioth the 100 capital ships for are measly selves. And nothing like having a Titan come in and DD a bunch of t1 fitted cruisers. And then having Selene come in with the mothership and attack my hauler becasue i was trying to grab my small tower . But it was all fun and will have to live in the memories and just is sad to see the FLA name end like this

FLA was the place I first got experienced in everything that is Eve.
0.0, tanking, the benefits of T2 modules (I wish we had them then) POS's, the weird way in which minerals are more expensive in 0.0 even though they're ALL right on the doorstep (although that could have been down to the perma-docked market slave - name escapes me, forgive me) and of course, the evil that is system defense. Sadly with the same faces day in, day out.
Slinktress is a Legend.
Ego's killed the FLA, nothing more, the people who didn't fight for Dek could have been booted under a different leader, but I was there with Slinktress counting and verifying the votes, if memory serves me right it was very very narrow.
I left FLA and Galaxy Punks when the daily *****ing got too much and all I wanted to do was have fun again. It took me a long time to get back into Eve and realize it's supposed to be fun. Tiring work, yes, but when I got to deklein and heard the history of the area I realized the sweat required of an "industrial" alliance to take over and keep (with the help of neighbours) their home.
Personally the start of the decline was the Cloud Ring venture. I was only a grunt, but there was no extra support in the form of capitals to take down the entire You What pos's, and at a time when the FLA should have been strengthening it's borders and shouting at the neighbours for their passive assistance.
It would be impossible to join an alliance of over 800 people and like them all. Thankfully the majority were great and bent over backwards to help me personally set myself up in 0.0 and taught me the finer points of 0.0 survival.
It is an end of an era, one that could have been avoided without the ego's but I say, meh.
Look forward to the future all of you, and have fun.
One final thing. Between Coldkill and Stitcher, they made fleet ops fun and interesting all the time. Both with totally different approaches and mannerisms but I like those guys.

Heh! I had forgotten about the perma-docked market slave that place had a lot of character.
I’ve gotta say my time in FLA was some of the most fun I’ve had in Eve, we had so many battles, we did a lot of crazy **** that was tactically and strategically FUBAR… but was also damn good fun, the holiday vacation to fountain, taking on youwhat solo, getting into a month long battle with MC using nothing but bamboo sticks and shuttles, awesome times.
Forget all the crap, FLA was a great place to be back in its day, and it did supply us with a ****load of Drama. (although mostly bad, sometimes also involving titans)
We play the game to be entertained and FLA was extremely entertaining. -

All I can say is that it's going to be extremely fun flying with TI. I remember fighting Burn Eden in Deklein back in the day, and I have to say I have a lot of respect and admiration for them. I'm greatly looking forward to my first combat op as part of Terra Incognita.
Oh and Rev - no love for me? The second in command of the FLA fleet? I feel so ignored... - The game is not the problem. The problem is that you are not adapting to the game.

I must agree, my time in FLA was some of the most fun I've ever had in Eve, right up until the Rev took over.
I could go on about that crap, but I'm done with it. We were given an ultimatum that was 110% bull****, so we packed up and left. It looks like a little while later even KVEC gave up on FLA.
Kids, be careful who your leaders are, and if they suck, make sure you can remove them.

To my honored former alliancemates,
We were never about putting down others. There is so much to this story you left behind months ago, and so many left it to find a different style of playing or were so tied to industry they could not survive without sovereignty space. I will only say that our leader was elected, then re-elected and to my knowledge only ever acted on what he thought was in the best interest overall for the alliance. In this fluid world, well if you don't like the outcome of an election you move on. No hard feelings either way guys.

DTHI left because Rev told us to kick Bobby or quit, so we quit. Best guess is that he thought Bobby was so awesome it showed him up
Which is a shame, because there was a lot of affection for you guys in the corp. If it hadn't been for that, we would have stuck with you for as long as there was an FLA to stick with. Fact is though that Bobby is a much loved and frankly indispensable part of our corp, and a long and loyal friend to most of us, and had done more in the YouWhat invasion and Deklein defence than any other single person in all of FLA. Any alliance that demands the kicking of someone like that for no reason wasn't going to be an alliance we could stick with.
Shame to see FLA finally go under, but good to see TI opening its doors to the last few survivors. BE were always good friends to FLA (even when they were shooting them ), so nice to see them making good on their friendship right to the end. ------

Edited by: DHB WildCat on 11/11/2007 18:02:03 This is one of many surprises we have been working on and allow me to welcome FLA into TI with open arms. It will be good to fly with you guys.
As our esteemed CEO mr. pookie has stated HYDRA you are in for a bit of fun. We are building our forces and are interested in more than a gate camp this time. 8) To Count Montecarlo and Teeknuckles of HYDRA. If you challenge us dont be surprised when we bring it a little heavier than you expected hehe.
As for leadership, TI runs under a different than ordinary flag. We remain independant with our corps. They are all self sustaining and do not need the alliance to survive. However from time to time we will happen to be in the same place to make things more interesting for our targets. In this alliance everyone has a say as to what happens noone is better than the other. This will be our gratest strength, no politics, no BS, just killing everything in sight.
"When the game turns so sour that numbers can beat tactics, then get yourself larger numbers and your tactics will then again be the deciding factor."

Oh and as for my personal short list of desired targets.... HUZZAH and BIG I havent forgotten 8). Let the fun commence
