This Monday at 11.00 GMT we will perform tests on Singularity to attempt to locate the root of the desync issues. We will attack a Starbase and we request your assistance in the assault. To participate you require the latest Singularity client which can be downloaded here. You will also need to have the logserver, found in your EVE directory; running and you will have to add the following line to your prefs.ini file in your cache folder for your Singularity client:
hideDesyncSymptoms=0.
This is a temporary setting that we are using to help us find the error.

You might struggle to get the numbers required at 1100 on a weekday. Best bet is announcing a "let's kill the dev's jove mothership" event for about 1830. That'll encourage the anti supercap tactics which cause desyncs in almost every case - just shooting a starbase won't really do much unless you want to organise all the participants into 2 fleets and duke it out.

what desync issue are you trying to reproduce?
- the issue where the client thinks it is in the wrong position/already warped but the server thinks otherwise (aka ship blown up while I was at pos or "you need to be within 1500m of the can" while sitting right next to it)
- or the issue that was "fixed" some time ago where client fails to load grid correctly (not at all, incomplete, long delays)

Given the last time I got desynced attacking a pos we only had 12 ships there it probably won't take many to reproduce the problems.
I'll do my best to turn up and help.

Most likely in one of the neighbouring systems to FD-MLJ. That is where the previous tests have taken place. And also in the general area where most people are.

Just my 2 cents yet again but ..
I have never experiences a major desynch attacking a pos .. the primary activity that seems to trigger it is when a large number of people jump into a system at the same time ..
Simple test . have a pile of people on a gate camp .. then have a large fleet jump in to attack them .. bubbles seem to compound the issue so put up a bunch of them :)
It is a simple recipie for an almost guarenteed desynch ..

There are a number of situations that will cause desyncs and different scenarios are tested for different reasons.
Come along and help.

If you use the /end /LUA:OFF option, which I would intensly recommend, you can find the prefs.ini file in the cache-folder within your testclient homedir. Otherwise it is in the settings-folder somewhere in your system data.

Sorry to sound stupid (as this has allready been asked once now) but could someone please tell me ; WHERE is the prefs.ini placed (please stop saying, "in the cache-folder"). In example, i install to C:\CCP\EvE\ ,,,, then you're saying that i should have a folder there named cache?? (i don't, fyi)!
I'd love to help out on this test, but unless i get info for this,, i can't !

Sorry if i sound like a dork now,, but whould it (for future tests) be possible to get a location on the test-area?? I logged in (after having set up my sisi-client), and couldn't find anyone anywhere (as there was noone in any of the public channels to direct me to where i should go).
I really think it whouldn't be THAT big a problem to make a simple link to the system, where the test is being run??
Soryy if i come out as a bit p.o'ed,, but when CCP asks for help, and i end up wasting time due to lack of information, i tend to get a bit grumpy.

The pewpew was good. To bad CCP Zulupark didn't stick around as i'm sure a lot of us (carrier pilots) wanted a quick chat with him :)
No desync for me, but a lot of people were complaining with desync.
Hope the test will give CCP a clear idea of WTF is wrong and what can be done to fix this big issue. ______________________ Just another cool alt.

Yeah, was good fun.
Got a desync at around 20% shield on the POS. Didn't notice before someone said they hit structure, and I was still shooting at the shield. >.> ---

I love that you guys are looking into this, but please keep in mind that for some people, desyncs DON'T happen at POS fights. There seems to be some connection between session changes, loading lots of ships on grid, and believe it or not, getting bumped. I've had 4 major desyncs where I lost ships, and in 3 I had been rammed by another ship while trying to warp, and in 1 I ran into a gate.
I'd run simulations on undocking into camps, bump after initiating warp, jumping into gatecamps with bubbles etc.
