Quote: All I wanted to say, that you don't need a god damn Interceptor frigate to do it, though it is easier.
Exactly, heck a 100k odd skillpoint alt can do this kind of thing (excluding cruise skill there), flying at speed realy mess's tracking on the big guns on a BS. Sure they will get you eventualy but you can go a long while without being hit. Its also alot of fun with the larger grids as you can go say 400km away let them crawl close to you and then warp right past em to were they were defending and ***** of a few rockets as you MWD past your target. Highly reccomended sometime.

No, I find a Battleship makes a better paperweight.

Quote: Sorry Fuze, but you're just plain wrong there. It's an easy tactic for a BS to fire off missiles, force the frig to push the MWD button, and then blast the bugger with your guns. It's why Rifter's are good, but not uber.
You can't fire missiles when you don't get a lock. And Fof don't work either. So an interceptor has plenty of time to launch it's load and to get off quick without being in real danger. When you manage to fire missiles to that ship it still takes of with 3k/s and then warps out. So even a nitwit could do that. But killing cans? ___________________________ Favorite bumpersticker of the month: My head hurts! |

Here are the problems I have with this story:
1. Missles have no effect if you warp out before impact. 2. In all the times he warped in an out, the defending force never got one lucky shot, never positioned themselves in the line of fire around the cans. They never positioned themselves at warp in point with smart bombs? No one went and fetched a frigate to catch him?
Sorry if he did this 1 or 2 times I would have believed it if he killed a few cans. 20+ cans? nice try. --------------------------- (c) Copyright Saladin, 2005. Any editing of this post by a third party will be in violation United States Internet Copyright law 46525 of 2003. |

1. If you'd read it, he said he did that the first time but then learned to stay there until it hit. 2. Smartbombs would have taken out the cans, and you obviously don't know much about Period Basis--I doubt many people have spare ships out there. It's VERY remote. Also, it takes so long for even a sensor-boosted battleship to lock an interceptor that he'd have plenty of time to change direction or even warp out, then come in from another angle.
Anyway, this is why I love interceptors--they are the ultimate annoyance to battleships. ------------- My salsa makes all the pretty girls want to dance and take off their underpants. I <3 ( . Y . ) |

Actually if you read my post I said use the smart bomb at the warp in point, not near the cans. In addition non of these missles were shot down? Yes and I do know where period basis is and I know m0o/techell have had a station there for a very long time. Why would they not have a spare ship? --------------------------- (c) Copyright Saladin, 2005. OMG, the thread that wouldn't die.
Okay...from my understanding of events, every time he warped in, he bookmarked his next target, thus ensuring he'd come out within 15km of it.
Warp in, lock & approach, fire, bookmark next target, no more can, warp out. Total attack time was hardly ever over 15-20 seconds, which is barely enough time for a non-sensor boosted BS to lock a normal frigate, much less a pilot with a high level Interceptor skill. The defending ships were set up to take out NPC 'rats, not a hit and run PC ship.
The attack took place over a period of over half an hour and he came in from different directions on more than one occasion. Bellus is no amatuer when it comes to this sort of thing. This post was not made as a boast or to brag. It's one small skirmish in a much larger conflict. I just thought that it was a very good depiction of what the new Interceptors can do, as a lot of people question whether or not they are worth the expendature.
Lastly, to those who claim this is some fictional story, this post was originally made in the military section of the Tyrell forums. The pilot was pleasently surprised when I posted his report on the forums here, but he never had any intention of seeking glory within the greater EVE community. He certianly has no need to brag or make up stories to his fellow Tyrell pilots. I'll simply leave it at that. _____ CLS Civil Affairs Bureau

any fast frigate can do this if the bs's aren't kitted for fast lock/smartbombs/etc.
nothing new to see here really
