Quote: 433,000 characters, there are 164,000 Caldari pilots (38%), 116,000 Gallente pilots (27%), 86,000 Minmatar pilots (20%), and 68,000 Amarr pilots (16%).
These are the ice cold facts.. Amarr is lacking in every way. In my opinion CCP should do something about this.
Quote: The histogram on right shows the distribution of total skill points across the population of EVE. The average life span of an EVE character is seven months; hence it comes as no surprise that half of the characters have less than one million skill points
so roughly i can say that half of these 68000 34000) has only 1 million sp
/me *nods head* sigh.
The amarr race should be an more atractive race.. who should appeal to the players.. My best guess is that the recent amarr players are made just because people pick them by accident instead of the roles or ideals or the power of our race..
CCP dammit do something aboout it! the amarr race is deing.. we are alomst an protected species.. mabe its an idea to change the back story and give most of our space to teh caldari..

Actually, I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that a disproportionate number of those veteran characters with 30-40+ mil SP are Amarr...a lot more than 16%, anyways. Amarr used to be the win-button, after all. ------ Director, No Quarter "There is no problem that cannot be solved by the judicious application of violence." |

Nother fact:
minnie are 2 seccond least played so are they seccond wrost? I would say minnie are arguable the best choise atm.
Within thease "ice cold fact" are non icecold things like personaly perferance and style. And thus you cant use this "fact" to measure amarr ineffectiveness.

Yes amarr females should be hawt chicks, preferably looking like elves to attract more players to choosing an Amarr avatar!
Also the males should be changed to muscular men that look like they are chiseled from stone, just so that nerds can choose a proper male to play! ---

It also stated that Amarr has the most missile SP of the non-missile races (which we aren't anymore, due to that #@$@ing Khanid changes). You wanna know WHY? Because amarr sucks the most at belt ratting... Gallente is just fine with the Domi, Minnie mostly uses typhoons for it. Amarr just sucks at it, you could go Geddon and see your cap melt in 5 seconds (but at least you can field 5 heavy drones) or apoc and see it take 5 eons to kill stuff due to sad damage and 75 (SEVENTY FIVE!) m3 drone space.
THAT is why Amarr have missile skills; they gave up and crosstrained to a Raven.

New players do not choose race because of the ships abilities. They choose race by the information they get during the character creation. So the reason there are few amarr players is not because of how good or bad their ships are.

Being amarr doesn't mean you fly amarr, same counts for other races, I'm Amarr, but I fly mainly gallente and a bit of caldari/minmatar. My alt whoever does fly amarr. Most of the new chars that are made are caldari because they get very nice stats (achura), and although most of those probably specialize in caldari, more than a few are probably created just for the attributes, not for the race's ships.

I am Caldari and in my n00b days was stupid enough to specialize in Amarr (back then I was naive to think that all races are equally balanced). Why I didn't stop training for Amarr at some point? Because I didn't like to waste my time spent on Amarr and I thought it'll be better if I specialize more. At 1-st I didn't want to waste a month of training, then it was 2 months, then 4 - that's the pattern. Now I'm training some Gallente, but if given the chance to roll back, I'd go for Caldari.
Raven - the ultimate PvE ship Rokh - very good fleet battleship Scorp - excellent EW battleship Cerberus - one of the best close range HACs Recons - kings of EW Crow - best interceptor Harpy - very good anti-support long range frigate Blackbird - one of the few T1 cruisers that can actually do something even in an advanced gang
And btw, new Khanid ships show only one thing - CCP knows that lasers are hopelessly broken, the question is whether they'll do something about it.

Maybe it's because the race is just rather unappealing. I mean really, psychotic fundamentalist slavers?
My reaction to the race descriptions when I first started playing went something like: Caldari - Gallente - Minmatar - Amarr -

I dunno, Amarr, a case of the nerf bat gone mental? *shrugs*
Regardless, I've trained for Amarr because I love the Abaddon, granted it takes 500 gallons of wax to get it shiney but it's worth it. Amarr ships are so flasy you'd be proud to be caught dead in one (and you normally are)

hey hey
I made a RealLifeÖ choice to choose Minmatar.
1. I prefered the underdog (hard mode) 2. I specifically didnt choose Amarr because of the slave history. 3. I much prefered the minmatar avatar and the amarrian one looked crap (imho)
You could also add that when people have been taking advantage of the "power of two" they are choosing a much more specific chatarter in respects to Character Creation Specifics.
You should take statistics with a pinch of salt. As a totally new character about to play the tutorial you have no idea about which race is better than the others so from a new player perspective you could say that Amarrians just dont look that interesting.

You also have to remember that most new players will remake their character during the trial period.
E.G someone with 20 charisma and Amarr race is going to be advised by his first corp that he joins to remake ASAP! Heck, even with great stats, a lot of new Amarr pilots get advised from their corpmembers to change asap!
Also, most new players will look at the forums breifly to see what people think about the races. Amarr are a mostly useless race, therefore all these legitimate complaints will make new players delete their chars and remake as any of the other races during their first week even without corpmembers loling at them
--SIG-- I am aware that my name means reproductive organ in another language, I bought this char for isk with that name without relising that. |

And their look seems to mostly limited to cranky middle-aged bald men or constipated monks.
Amarr are doubly screwed just as Caldari are doubly blessed. For a new player, Amarr are (for the most part), not a very attractive choice. And for an experienced player or a new player who knows something about the game, they're not a first choice either, for reasons we pretty much know.
Caldari are doubly blessed. New players take them because of their look and feel and experienced players may choose them because of their min-maxability.

No, Gallente and for some, Minmatar, definitely win the look & feel award.

Actually, amarr *characters* isn't as reveleaing as how many people are flying around amarrian *ships*.
Everyone and their mother made caldari archura, what we need to know is what kind of ships are being flown around.
The problem is with amarrian ships, not amarrian characters, no? So we need to look at the ships being piloted.
It's possible that many of those amarrians aren't even flying amarrian ships. Maybe 10% of the ships in EVE are amarrian. I would think that would be a good indicator that some of the amarrian ships are viewed as sub par.

Amarrian ships is the problem meaning less new players bother keeping Amarr chars as their mains. Currently, Amarr SP is a waste, and it is far better to get a few hundred k of SP head start on non-Amarr related Skills by remaking your char rather than keeping it.
BTW, The most popular Amarr ship, taken straight from the dev blog, is the Bestower. Now that is tellng you something!

What's the problem? I created this new character because i wanted an amarr due to the pretty good attributes you get. The ships? dunno, proably never will since i'm aiming for gallente ships... |
