Alot of these ideas are wicked, though the ones i stray away from are the ones that reduced the lentgh of time it takes, to take a constellation/region. Lets be honest this isnt a 4 on 4 war this is an alliance vs alliance war for control of valueable space. It shouldnt be over in a day ( surrendering or Failing aside) or a week ( for a region at least). Cross timezone stuff is always necessary if you wanna take a region sacrifices must be made, in defense or offense, if you can beat your opponent in their own tz you win. I do agree there is two much pos bashing, reducing the number of pos's in a system would be stellar but dont make it to low. It still has to be a commitment. Noone in 0.0 wants to see space taking shift to some if you whim it let it be kinda thing. Alliances are respected for the space they own and defend, if you cant defend it, it should be taken away.
Personally My favourite idea is the planet towers counting to sov. But on the same note ive always thought soveriegn space should have alliance owned gate guns (only 2 and not as effective as empire ones, also they can be incapped.) as well as station guns, same description. I dont think stations should be destroyable but i do think they should be repackageable. This would allow a new alliance who just took the space to change their defense tactics.
If alliance a is 5000 members strong and they hold some space and alliance b is 500 members strong, if fixed on taking it from them, it shouldnt be easy. This kind of fight should be an uphill battle not a im goign to sneak 20 guys past you pop some things and win your space cause your too slow and large.
There is no Answer to blobbing its smart tactics. If you can out number your opponent you should. It will increase your chances of victory greatly, and therefore is more logical. Do you think the US Army would look at the enemy and go they have 200 soldiers select our 200 best and send them in for a fair fight. Hell no they'd say bomb it, then send the tanks in followed by our troops we should have a good victory with no losses.
In the end i think the fix to soveriegnty is to make it planet dependant, as well as bringing out that low sec rented sov idea that the dev's were playing with.
Highsec - Single to Small Groups in Pvp usually Lowsec - Single to medium sometimes large groups in pvp usually 0.0 - Medium to Large groups in pvp usually.
That looks like a good line of transition to me personally, Now i know there are those groups of 20 friends really tightly knit that want their name on 0.0 sov. Well with the Viceroy system you could have your name on something just not a 0.0 region. To take away the Blobs is to take away the reason to have a big alliance, the counter to blobbing should be titans. As was mentioned earlier their damage should increase rapidly with the more hostiles that are on grid with it. Making it so that a small roam gang doesnt even fear a titan, like using a gun to kill an ant.
0.0 is all about the big fleets, big ships, big goals, and big wins and losses. To change that you change the reason for being in 0.0 non npc space. If your in 0.0 just to gank and hunt npc space its a safe bet. But For space taking holding and defending, size does matter and should always matter.
