As there are currently many threads on this topic here is how you fix it.
Reason: Usually when you have the "Local Session Corrupt" error, the only thing you need to do is close down the client and start it again. But it seems that for some people this issue persists, even after rebooting. The reason for this is that you have not used the /LUA:OFF switch on your shortcut when connecting to our test server. This can cause the cache to become corrupted and therefore rejected when you're trying to connect to Tranquility.
How to fix it: To fix this problem you have to clear your cache, as in rename the EVE-Online cache folder or delete it. Here is how you do it:
1. Exit the game 2. Go to: - Windows 2000/XP: "C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Local Settings\Application Data\CCP\EVE" - Windows Vista: "C:\Users\%usernames%\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE" 3. In there, there are subfolders named settings and cache. Move those folders over to a safe location outside of the EVE directory (or just rename them). This resets EVE to its default settings as the game then regenerates the folder upon restart.
This also unfortunately clears out your bookmark folders (though the bookmarks themselves are perfectly safe), so if needed, you can try moving the \Settings subfolder of the original \cache folder back to the one in your EVE directory.
Do note that copying the settings folder or any of it's files back may cause your problems to resurface, this includes the prefs.ini file.

Deleting the cache doesnt loose your space bookmarks just the browser ones (favourites to windows users) so before you delete the cache goto - C:\Documents and Settings\YourNameHere\Local Settings\Application Data\CCP\EVE\cache\Browser and save the notepad files named - 'bookmarksSites.txt' and 'trustedSites.txt' then reinstate these once the game is running ok to regain all your favourite pron sites :P

If you cant find the file just copy and paste the "C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Local Settings\Application Data\CCP\EVE" into the run option on the start menu worked for me.

Thanks for that. For some reason I could not find that folder otherwise, hidden or something

Well that did SOMEthing. Instead of a locla session corrupt error my client now hangs on acquiring bulk data.

Well, i don't get any specific message when i crash, it just freezes after i have selected a character and starts loading it up. This was fine before the server was brought down for maint.
I have tried doing what you say, but all that did was make it crash slightly sooner. Nothing has changed clientside so i presume you have seen fit to fiddle with a server setting somewhere.

Unfortunately, for me, when I attempt to locate the folder, there is nothing there. I copy the link and put it into my Folder Location bar, and go to it. It says that this folder does not even exist...
It says this. "Windows cannot find 'C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Local Settings\Application Data\CCP\EVE'. Check the spelling and try again. Blah blah blah... Any ideas?

I had the same problem locating the local settings file. This was strange since I've done this sort of thing innumerable times on a XP pro, but it seems, in Home, you need to show hidden files through Tools<Folder Options and the option to change it should be on the list.

I tried what you suggested Eayo, but it is not even a hidden folder... I can't seem to find it anywhere. I am on the master account daily and that is the one it was installed on. I have checked it, my mothers account, my brothers account, my fathers account, and the all users account. I have Windows WP Professional. I can't find it at all... I have no Idea of what to do other than, re-install my client and delete the test...
Is there any idea of what could be done to prevent this drastic measure?

Re-installing EVE wont fix the problem because it will not change the cache\settings folder in your profile. You have to follow the steps above. I had the same problem and the above fix worked for me.

Thanks... I only bothered to look up the forums this morning after i finally got my server to work again, this happened to me after playing on the test server... it didnt happen to the other two people playing next to me though =/ Is it just random?
I did happen to find this folder but it was hidden on mine (just make sure you have hidden files displayed).
Also i had to delete another folder first though, in my documents, the eve cache can store there as well. Once i deleted both these folders and rebooted i could get back on eve!

i know what/where the file is to save your IGB bookmarks, ect... but anyone know what the file is named/located that saves your Overview settings? or is there such a beast? would be great cause i had 15-20 various OV setups for each toon (on multiple accounts)
thanks again mates. Dylon
EDIT: for those that had probs fining it, if you installed to defaults it should be here... C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Application Data\CCP\EVE

a Side note to what changeing/deleting/removing the cache folder can do.
if you have any sort of customizations of the gui/hud. like window placement, sizes. were your devices are in the tray.the overview size and columns. most of those things. including any settings youve made in the settings menu. i know the first thing i had to do after removing the cache folder was reset my prefs.ini file and set my graphics options and other things of the like.
just mentioning all this, because i had to do it, and found it quite aggravating...

Important to underline that you may have to delete/rename the cache folder AND the settings folder. Deleting only the cache didn't help at all for me, took me 3 hours until I realised I could try and delete the settings too
I also got this problem after logging on to Sisi. I could still log on fine with 2 other accounts but the one I had logged on to Sisi with was borked.
I found the folder by doing a search for prefs.ini, once you've located it it's a good idea to go up one step in the hierarchy and make a shortcut to the Eve folder that puts you in, so you don't have to do the search next time something screws up.

Hey fellas, need a bit of help. Had the Local session corrupt deal there and followed the instructions about moving the folders, only thing is that everytime i log on, jump through a gate or dock/undock every single one of my settings resets. Including sound and graphics settings as well as bookmark folders deleted and overview settings lost. REALLY annoying to say the least, any help would be great, cheers.

Okay, here's a more accurate fix for people for whom Casqade's steps didn't work.
Background: [un]fortunately for me, the Eve client really really hates it when you run multiple instances on the same computer. Everyone once in a while, the settings for one of my pilots gets corrupted and I have to delete two specific files in order to fix it. This also fixed my test server corruption.
Somewhere on your computer (find it yourself; sorry, but different OSes configured differently with people who login differently means it could be in a lot of different places) is the CCP/Eve/ folder containing the folders "cache" and "settings". In the settings folder are six categories of file: 1) char_<number>.dat 2) char__.dat 3) pc.dat 4) prefs.ini 5) user_<number>.dat 6) user__.dat
I believe the file that gets corrupted is the user_<number>.dat for the character that you logged onto the test server with. (In my multiple instance problem, it is also this file that gets corrupted.) Unfortunately, if you're having this problem, there seems to be no way to fix it and also save your client settings (graphics settings, window sizes/positions, subscribed channels, bookmark folders, etc). However, you can at least fix this problem (and mine) without reinstalling Eve. Here's what you do:
1) Close Eve. All instances. 2) Cut (or Copy and Delete) the entire settings folder out of the CCP/Eve folder and put it somewhere else (such as the Desktop). You can also just rename it, but God help you if you're using Vista and you try that. 3) Log in only the character that is having trouble logging in. Log this character into Tranquility, not Singularity. If you accidentally log into Singularity, then start over, but this time Delete the new CCP/Eve/settings folder that will have been created. DO NOT overwrite the backup you made the first time. You shouldn't have any trouble logging in. 4) Close Eve. 5) You will have a new CCP/Eve/settings folder with six files, one for each of the six categories I listed above. Notice the numbers on the two numbered files. 6) Open the backed-up settings folder and Delete those two files. Make sure you get the numbers exactly right. 7) Delete the CCP/Eve/settings folder. DO NOT delete the backup folder. Delete the one that was newly created. The whole folder. DO NOT delete the CCP folder. Delete only the settings folder. 8) Copy the backed-up folder into CCP/Eve/ (if you originally renamed it, change the name back to "settings").
At this point you have deleted the two files in the settings folder that are specific to the character that was broken. You can now log your previously-broken character onto Tranquility and redo all of you settings. Those who read their character XML might notice that the char_<number>.dat file has a number that matches the character ID. Unfortunately, there does not seem to be a way to figure out which user_<number>.dat file is associated with any given character without following the steps listed above.
Dear CCP, I have told you about this before. You seem to have ignored me. You have a race condition which corrupts the user_<number>.dat file when some confluence of factors occurs. It is rare, but it does happen, and it does seem to be associated with running multiple instances of the client on the same machine. My guess is that the code which manipulates settings files is not reentrancy safe. Maybe you should revisit your concurrency model.

Overview settings should be stored on the server really, since they are only used after the game environment has loaded (unlike the graphics settings). Couple extra database tables with numbers I'd think, and no more hassle with corrupted client files all the time. Had to redo all my overview settings at least five times this year, they usually just vanished after a major client update and it seems I've lost them again this time by starting up the Trinity test client.

I have tried recommendation of OP (dev) and unfortunately, after deleting settings folder and cache completely, I am still unable to log into tranquility. I did log into Singularity, and i did press X on the window rather than log off, but you know what devs, the reason for this is simple, the LOG OFF BUTTON ON SINGULARITY (QUIT NOW) DOESNT WORK LATEST PATCH, so that is not my fault, after waiting 5 minutes i was impatient and closed out the wrong way. Sue me. But still, as much as i love you guys and your new patch, i cannot log into the live server now and its really annoying me. Appreciate any help or alternate options in english, as i am not a programmer.
thanks. _____________________________ V I R U S

I have had this issue for hours now, have tried to follow the instructions, but don't have a settings folder. There is no cache and no settings folders for eve on my computer (yes, I'm familiar with them, had been able to delete them and fix this type of problem in the past). I re-installed Eve. Same problem. Please help.
