Dev 1 : Hey I think you're on to something.
Player 1: Designing clothes in Eve is ***. Why would I give a damn about the color of my shirt? It's all just fluff. I'll quit.
Player 2: Dude, check out these new ships coming in Trinity.
Player 1: Pink Thorax?!? WTF, these colors are all wrong! I quit.
I think we'd all get somewhere if the haters would simply admit that the reason they hate ambulation is because designing clothes is feminine, while arguing about ship colors and models is for manly men.
Double standard much? ---------------

Edited by: Saladin on 21/11/2007 15:30:44 I enjoy EvE as it exists now but I am not afraid or bitter regarding this whole ambulation thing. Its strictly optional and people can ignore it entirely if they want to. Even so, t0rfifran's presentation at the FF was very adamant that the ambulation experience would remain true to the EvE universe.
Its no secret that the social aspect of ambulation is appealing to women. CCP will be able to tap into a under-represented demographic and perhaps give the community a face-lift. Over the past 4 years I have seen many of the people I flew with quit because their better half didn't approve of EvE. What if their wives/gf's played too? So ambulation could help with player retention as well. This is not about some geek fantasy to pull more women into EvE to create social opportunities. Anyone who has played MMO's knows that the female avatars are mostly guys and as such does not see them (the avatars) as objects of desire.

CCP has already stated that the player won't be able to design the clothes, probably to make sure the goons doesn't invade Jita 4-4 in pink bunny suits.

You canŠt add new content to Ambulation but all the content has to be produced by the players for the players.
but,
You could crash a bar with your entire corporation in corp uniforms. You can start a bar that caters only to Caldari and people can only enter if they are rich. You can polish the frozen corpses of your enemies.
Now how is that not New Eden?

Since we're complaining about things that don't matter at all....
I'm against humans being assigned the following names: Brian, Ethan, Mark, Greg, Shelly, Sue Ellan, and Ashley.
If CCP doesn't do something to stop people from naming their kids those names, I'm gonna go on a three week rant behind my PC and call for 7 people to ask, "Can I have your stuff."
Who cares, we already know if you don't like ambulation you don't have to turn it on.

Why would demigods get in armored hunks of spacemetal and shoot at each other? I mean, they arent going to die, and they are rich beyond belief, so its not like they have any reason to shoot at anyone else.

That's not New Eden, in New Eden you will decapitate your enemies frozen corpses, sell the bodies as fertilizer and place the heads in jars for public humiliation.

Exactly what I was thinking, Sheriff.
All the whiners have absolutely no grounds to whine, simple because participation in Ambulation is optional. OPTIONAL. You can totally ignore it if you want. Reading whines about this makes my brain hurt. -----

...and this is what this thread looks like.
for like AGES I've seen the occasional "why can't we walk on stations" thread, and that was just an idea on the beginning. Then we saw a vid on ambulation and the devs were "soon(TM)". The croud rejoiced. Then fast forward a year, and more stuff is released, and now I see this thread and many people posting here "WTF? AMBULATION SUX! DIE!"...
...WTF people? You guys are worse than children since you really don't know what you want.
also I'll gladly welcome ambulation and I'll gladly open a friggin' bar. If you don't like it, don't come out of the ship. It's optional anyways. ---

Originally by: Caiman Graystock Pod Pilots, the elite of EVE society, setting up fashion houses and running a bar? I assume at some point after ambulation, players might be able to start/change characters in EVE that aren't pod pilots, which would make these career paths fit a little better with the lore... or will they/should they?
you should read the confederation saga by peter f hamilton. in that, there are lots of people who are effectively immortal, just like pod pilots, and they "take lives off" where they spend a couple of lifetimes getting to the top, and then when they get cloned again, they say "i'm gonna take a holiday" and go off packpacking around the universe, or chilling out on a beach, or running a bar for their nect life (i.e. untill they get cloned again, usually early-middle age).
perfectly feasable that a pod pilot would have a jump clone they'd hop into and take things easy for a while. ========================================== that's no moon... oh, wait, yes it is, the space station's out the other window. |

I'm not bothered about drinking and such because I dont see any entertainment in digital drunkenness it seems pointless to me as does watching peoples chars dance but just because I cant see the point in it doesnt mean its a bad thing as some people like that stuff.
But I would love my own junk shop with modules lying around and or able to own a proper shop or ship dealers yard. Cloaks!! |

if the designers would be so kind as to add some kind of rudimentary "tool" to custom-create "useless objects" (or "Art") that i could sell on the market, it would be much appreciated...
however, if clothes are what we get - then im aiming to be lofty's premiere haute couture designer.

Surely a demigod is entitled to do whatever the hell they like?
If they want to own a bar and design clothing, then they can damn well go and do it! You know why? BECAUSE THEY ARE DEMIGODS.

Why would demigod sell clothes or run a bar?
Well, let me put it to you this way:
Pod pilots are demigods compared to normal, planet dwelling inhabitants. However, lets ask a question:
IS a demigod among other demigods a still demigod?
Does everyone here perceive other players as demigods? I don't. There are some I have deep respect towards, however I don't consider them demigods.
I hope that you understand what I am getting at here.
After all, you get orders from agents, how undemigodlike that is to receive orders from a station dwelling human...
