Pod Pilots, the elite of EVE society, setting up fashion houses and running a bar? I assume at some point after ambulation, players might be able to start/change characters in EVE that aren't pod pilots, which would make these career paths fit a little better with the lore... or will they/should they?

Well, I haven't read this about ambulation, but what you describe looks like sims in space

Remember that these are drinks which may cost more than a spaceship, and clothes so expensive that a normal person could save their entire lives and not be able to buy a pair of these pants.
That puts it in perspective for you. - - - Originally by: CCP Garthagk While these forums may not give you everything that you want, they will usually let you post.

Many "elites" or celebrities of some societies run/own restaurants and design/sell their own goods, as it were, normally with their well known name attached.
Who wouldn't want a Chribba waffle-maker? Or drink at a IAC bar?

Because they can? Running a bar sounds like fun and could make for quite a useful stepping stone to run other, less legal ventures out of -----

Pod pilots would open places to have business with other pod pilots, at prices out of reach to 'normal' station residents, keeping the whole thing elite.

In ambulation I want to be able to rent a Corp office slot in Jita and turn it into a hotel/bar/casino with an army of monkeys in the basement on typewriters. Seriously though, I want to be able to go into a bar and hire peopl to do work for me, make ME commision the mission's, leave Kirjava as an AI in a bar giving out request's for people to haul crao from A to B, hire mercenaries ect.

The same reason a friend of mine, an engineer who has worked on the space shuttle, SR-71 Blackbird, and many other aircraft, also raises and sells fruit crops and Christmas trees: sometimes it's just satisfying to do something different, something more personal, and to do it with your own two hands.

How do you figure, sparklepony?
We've already got people wanting to design clothes, mix drinks, have the need to eat, and be pregnant. Check out all the other games with 3D avatars, and get back to me after you've seen hordes of "toons" dancing in the common gathering areas.
You think these fruitbats that want to design dresses while having a baby and sipping their mojitos won't be tripping over themselves to get to the latest "/emote macarena" command?

Well, for one, just because one person makes a thread saying they "want" something, doesn't actually mean anything. Secondly, it has been said that there will not be dancing, or even running, on numerous occasions. And that isn't even counting the rset of the aural diarrhea that spewed forth from you in your posts.

I would actually be interested in a "dancing" emote, as long as the dance emote lasted for 3-10 minutes, and you had to have a partner, as well as it could only be done on the "ball-room floor".
or do the elite not participate in formal dances? or during marriages? etc... immersion ftw.

I wasn't trying to imply I was against any of that stuff outlined in the OP, btw... just broaching on how it should fit into the lore and whether it might eventually lead to non-pod pilot professions per se.

Ambulation is some kind of new game in an already existing game. I believe this thing that starts as some kind of gimmick and eye candy has the potential to evolve into something that is as much or even more important than the game in space we know today.
In 5 years we might have full planetary interaction. I am not talking about some kind of interaction from an orbitting station which is already planned as a first step. I am talking about walking, living and fighting on planets, new skills and tools like tanks etc for combat (and of course production).
Back to topic. Demi Gods as bar keepers? I think everyone has to start small. Be it in a noob frigate mining veldspar or as an overseer of an fashion shop / slave facility / whatever. Wouldn't it be nice if your girlfriend could support your ideas of galactic domination with her income from her hairdresser's shop?
The only question is about how to clone someone when he is outside of a pod. I am confident scientist will find a way to make this brain scan devices smaller so that you might be able to carry it as an implant or so in future without the need of a pod.

Well I for one agree with the OP in that all of this rubbish is just not Eve and makes no sense whatsoever.
I can make a choice of career between being an industrialist and building up billions in assets, or....running some clothes shops? WTF???? Is a shirt going to cost millions of ISK? I can buy some new boots...or a megathron? IT MAKES NO SENSE AT ALL. Just because a lot of people (and I'm horrified at the number of people who say they are looking forward to this) seem to want to play the Sims in Space, does NOT make it a valid direction for the game to go.
Everything I have heard about ambulation from CCP stinks of an idea that they are desperately trying to think of justification for. Multiple CEOs in a meeting room discussing battle plans over a shared map? Utterly pointless. It sounds OK, if you've never been a CEO or particpated in a battle. But in reality it adds nothing. People already have all those tools, out of game, and they work much better than they ever will in-game.
Clothes shops? I can't believe this is a serious idea. People complaining about carrier nerfs and amarr ******ation will realise how trivial those issues are once this ambulation crap gets stuffed into the game.
The key to being successful at anything is focus. CCP, for all their problems & faults, have been pretty solid so far wrt keeping the original vision of Eve intact. Not any more.
The fact is, ambulation is a requirement for their next MMO, the whole White Wolf thing. Putting it in Eve is nothing more than practise for them. It's a shame they don't realise it will probably ruin the game.
When I quit as a result of this crap, I will load everything I own into a freighter and self-destruct it outside Jita 4-4. Be there with a hauler.
