Ok so how am I to hunt convoys? Not 'newbs' but the pointless NPCs taht are there to be robbed. It is stupid and needs to be changed, or maybe some way to hit convoys without any need to be near a station. ------------------------------------------------ I've always owned Kehmor, cheap as chips off Ebay

You can still get killed at asteroid belts and such, so its not like that message doesnt make any sense.

Typhoon battleship - 60 million ISK 4 Sensor Booster 2s - 10-20 million or so 4 Gyrostabilizer 2s - another 20 million or so 4 1400mm howitzers - 4 million
Look on CCPs face when people move out to 160km and STILL camp gates - priceless

What worries me most about this change is its making it even harder for PvPers in frigs and cruisers, now in order to kill people you dont like you need a battleship.
I HATE empire space the people you meet there have no respect for one another as they know you cant retaliate. You have to put up with all sorts of nasty behaviour and you cant do anything about it. At least in 0.0 theres some mutual respect as you know folk you meet can/will kill you if you act like a jerk.
Now with empire so safe its taking all the excitement out the game. I used to think I was a carebear as I like to get along with people but damn this game has made me rewrite my definition of carebear.

Yes, the message does make sense.
It's the claim that "your not supposed to beable to kill anyone in empire" i replied to, that doesn't...

Quote: awww, so now celest can't camp egbinger... poor babies, they have to come farther into curse... or not at all.
Hehe their camps in Egbinger outside sentry range was kinda funny tho. Firing torps from 70 km getting shot down by sentries before they reached 50km

I just wonder what will happen if you sensor dampen the sentry guns, or attempt to jam them.
Or whether the shield transfer tactic (like the one Zombie used on Yulai) would still work?
I personally don't believe the system is fool proof. There are still ways around it. But my belief is that CCP, on principle, simply does not want gate and station ganking in any area of empire space. If there are loopholes, they will eventually fill it in the next patch and the next.
My personal belief is that I prefer a much more sophisticated NPC AI sentry fleet force, rather than guns, or all killing terminator cop forces. The NPC guard forces maintains criminal records, considers both faction and security standings, as well as being able to discriminate the type of damage being inflicted as the basis for action (splash damage vs. shooting with the intent to kill), and to meet such offending actions with varied and gradient actions of their own---such as fining, jamming and scrambling, and not necessarily kill someone's ship. The key theme of these forces is "flexible response".
While Concord guards the 0.5 to 1.0 space with Navy forces, Navy forces will in turn guard and spawn in large formations (equivalent to killer NPC swarms in 0.0 space) around gates and stations.
This will give pirates and faction enemies the chance to gate camp, but at the cost of actually fighting through such sentry spawns, which will continue to attack until the blockade is broken. Killing sentry forces decreases faction standings, and the lower the faction standings, the more intense the attacks will be.
At the same time, offenders will be flagged, in order to allow players the license to shoot these offenders and allow them to participate in the liberation of the gate.
Sentry fleets under engagement will broadcast warnings which will warn people of the battle in progress, and allow player pirate hunters to participate.
Such gate battles will also be termed as "events" and will be placed in the news billboards and broadcast sections automatically, complete with pictures of the notorious offenders (publicity is really what gankers are after for, so give it to them). We need like a press bot.
