A Brief Guide To Piracy by Motokko
Hey folks. This video is a small glimpse into the mind of a solo belt pirate as they find their prey. The kill shown is certainly not the quickest or most efficient I've ever made, but the reason I used it is that it clearly shows many of the steps I have to take in order to hunt my targets. This is intended to be a kind of mini guide to new players who are considering taking up pirating, or indeed older players who fancy joining the darkside for the first time.
If you're interested, the ship used is a rifter with the following setup. (NB: I use a lot of tech II cause I like to be flashy and want the extra edge. It isn't needed however, the setup works almost just as well with tech I so dont be scared off if you cant use or afford tech II yet).
3x 150mm Autocannon II 1x OE-5200 Rocket Launcher 1x Cold-Gas I Arcjet Thrusters 1x J5B Phased Prototype Warp Inhibitor I 1x Patterened Stasis Web I 1x Small Armor Repairer II 1x Damage Control Unit II 1x 200mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I
Finaly this is my first video so go easy on me ;p. Any comments or suggestions you have, I'd love to hear them. Enjoy.

Great info for starter pirates/pvp'ers - great explanation on the scanner - was slow enough and had enough info/text supporting the vid that I think it should be pretty self-explanatory to beginners. Keep it up mate.

Thanks for the kind comments, I'm glad everyone is enjoying the video. Vam Pire, the music is by Finntroll, the first song being Nattf÷dd and the second is Trollhammaren, both of which can be found on the Nattf÷dd album. They're an awesome band to go and see live by the way, its just a big hairy pirate dancing ale swigging orgy, loads of fun.

Nice guide, though the quality killed me a little and the scrambling error could have lost you the kill (happens when the module is blinky while you lock but not yet in range).

Can someone tell me who plays, and what's the name, of the songs used in the video?

Noticed that too, lol... Can't count the times I've forgotten about that and lost a kill
To the OP: Great video, gonna have to point people who ask about piracy to this, heck... may even point the guys who still can't figure out their directional scanner to this video. ____________________ Hi. I'm not an alt :) |

Hehe, I wondered how long it would take people to spot that mistake . I was lucky I spotted it myself when I did since it looked like he was aligning for warp just as I re-activated the scram. I also let him get the traversal down by not reactivating the afterburner when he finaly webbed me, not that it really mattered since by that point he only had a couple seconds left to live . Like I said, not the best kill I've ever made, but it was a good one for instructional purposes.
Oh and Misina Arlath, the music is by Finntroll, the first song being Nattf÷dd and the second is Trollhammaren, both of which can be found on the Nattf÷dd album.

Edited by: dodo dedere on 11/12/2007 11:22:54 I use the directional scanner every single time i pirate but i still learnt a trick from this.
Should say that this is why I enjoy eve PVP. The tracking down of the target as much as the actual l fight, theres a whole load of 0.0 pvp'ers who only fly in fleets who have no idea about this side of the fight.
Great video.

not bad, as a fairly new eve player with very limited pvp experience, this really makes me want to take up a more serious approach to pvp, if only i could afford to :(
