Ill put up my fps count in a bit but I too agree that LOD is just hosed right now. Try launching drones and see what happens. The individual drones are just as detailed, if not more detailed, than some of the ships in the game. Remove all windows (ctl + tab) and you can still faintly make out the details. It is my opinion that all ccp has to do apply the lod scaling, as currently there is none.

All settings at maximum (bloom, shadows, colours, etc) at 1680x1050 I get about 10FPS outside station in FD- with like 50 Ships undocked. In free for all I get 15FPS with 10 ships fighting
Core 2 Duo E6750 @ 3Ghz 2048MB RAM GeForce 8800 320MB @ 621Mhz Core, 945Mhz Memory, 1404Mhz Shader
Am using Forceware 169.12 BETA drivers (released for Crysis).
I will try turning shadows off. When I can get on SiSi.   ============================================

With a vast majority of people with high end systems reporting that it just simply lags to death, and now a release date of December 5...
Some people are saying this is not 'optimized' ? 5 December is 1 week from today.... you really think that they are going to do all of that and release it in 1 week?
I have one of those high end systems with 2 8800s in SLI with 640mb of ram and such.....
It simply blows chunks compared to other games that have similar/better graphics. I run in fleets, I would PAY for really crappy graphics just to not lag and die.
This was a graphics update, yes. But that is all that it appears to be, a marketing gimmick to show how pretty it is but, I do not see any real performance gains and that is what people want in the end run, not shiny stuff that will die before you even see it load in a fight.
Sorry, but this fails to deliver right now. We will see in time.

There is something wrong. Download the latest beta driver. I got a overclocked 8800 GTS and a AMD X2 running at 3070mhz and i get 100 fps in station and 35 to 70 at the same location same zoom angle you showed with LOADS of ships around.
I run 1920x1200 HDR= high Shadows= high. 16XAF
Driver used: 169.09

If you have to overclock your box to get performance, does that not tell you that there is something else a miss?
Eve is the only game that kills my system, and it doesn't have half the whiz bang technology that something like HL2 has in it's graphics engine yet performs 10,000x better.
I think they need to work on it some before releasing.

I overclock my systems allways because i do it for years and never had anything die on me. I don't see why i should have less performance then ic an have from my hardware.

MacPro running windows XP 2x dual-core 'Woodcrest' Xeons 2GB 667MHz DDR2 ECC RAM Radeon x1900xt w/ Omega drivers
With my regular anti-aliasing settings turned on through the omega drivers, and HDR turned off:
~130fps while warping ~80fps in belts ~40-50fps at the station in FD with everybody hanging around. no different than jita.
In my opinion the HDR effects are a little overboard and not needed. All they really do that's noticeable is blow out the highlights on objects, with a pretty significant frame rate loss. And that's with the lowest setting.
So with the settings that I prefer, I still get performance on par with the current client. I'm pumped :D ___________________________ not all who wander are lost. |

Core 2 Duo, 2.67 Ghz 4 Gig RAM 8800 GTX Vista
30-40 fps with the peeps all gazing at their ships outside the station in FD 100-150 fps in station or outside alone and about the same fighting reasonable numbers of enemies.
All settings on high, no AA.
Runs better than the current release client, and much much prettier.
Ciao, Aronis!

SLI Makes NO Difference at all, i tried with and without and saw no visible difference at all.
All in all performance is not very good at all.

1024x768 24 bit colour 24 bit Z-Buffer Shadow quality: Normal HDR: Disabled AA: N/A All Effects enabled
FPS: 39-31
Enabling HDR using the pref.ini command line has a detrimental effect on texture detail and quality.
Increasing shadow quality drastically decreases my FPS.
Turning off HDR made a marked improvement to texture detail and shading. I think my card was unable to render HDR as it should. The "glow" from the textures distorted them quite severely. The UI also flickers in and out of display for a while after session changes.
I'm upgrading my system on Friday so hope to See a big improvement. Despite the glitches the new engine looks amazing.

Shadows are the bane of your FPS. Leave them on normal and the worst you'll get is "jaggy-bits" but it still looks good and doesn't massacre your fps.
That said: Q6600 [@3.0], 2gb of ram, 8800gt Shadows: normal / HDR / Bloom: High / 8x AA
75-85 fps with about 30 ships / fighters and whatnot on screen. I generally have about the same on the classic client... and we have alot less GUI-lag here, that I've noticed. Also, it's incredibly pretty.

about 120 FPS in station (FD-) about 100 FPS in area with 4 BSs fighting about 50 FPS at station with 30+ ppl undocking constantly
In general its fine. Just dont go for HDR nor exstreme shadows. With that, bloody update your graphics card guys. Most of the issue ppl mention is because of that.

Oh and I am running 1680x1050 fullscreen. Everything high. Turrets and effekts on. No hardware overclocked at this moment.
oh some of the people having frame rate issues on full settings are the people that are running high end systems I think that is easy to see that there is a problem with the current setup of the client. and guess what they have already said the game is currently not graphically optimized for it to pass alot of the processing to the graphics cards. Im running what can be classed as a higher end system and it still dies in FD.
Pentium core2 3.2ghz (over clocked) 4gig memory GeForce 8800gts with 640mb of memory raid 5 7200rpm seagate drives. 1600x1200 resolution
On full eve graphical settings with no forced settings from the graphics card im geting
110fps in station 5-15 outside station in FD and around 25-30 with small battles (not Free for All area's) one thing I have forgotten about and will try once i get back home is that I run duel view on 2 1600x1200 monitors and some games in full screen have a few issues' running a full screen app with a 2nd duel view monitor. In this case I dont think it will be much but Its worth a try
You must have set shadows to exstreme or something mate. That really pulled my FPS down to begin with so I set it to hgih. But I really agree.. Man what I can't pull out of this machine in crysis etc. But I really exspected these issues to come tho. Seems a bit like CCP's art division did a really nice job and that the programmers didn't keep up. - - - Signature - - - For Sisi; Running: 8800 GTX 640mb, 4 GB ram, quad core Q6600, creative x-fi, ASUS striker exstreme MB, windows vista, 1680x1050 fullscreen, |
