When are we gonna get the security status fixed.
When I first becam a pirate I knew that all I had to do was stop killing noobs (from what Ive read a noob=any1 in the game that gets killed by a pirate ) for 3months (a long time) and I would be aloud back into 1.0, why was this changed and what is going to be done about it?
I have not killed any1 in empire space since about 2weeks before castor, but concord still have not forgotten about it, methinks ccp gave uber concord uber memory implants.
After petitioning this I got no satisfactory reply and the Gm closed the petition (insert bad word here)
All I want to do is participate in Empire held events, such as the whole crieler (err no spell check for this) incident and all the good stuff I read in the news and and hear about from the events team. Id also like to have the oppertunity to avail of tech II through agent missions, not likely id take it, but it made my list bigger than just one point.
This im sure makes people avoid pvp in empire space, it use to take 10 days to recover from blowing up one ship, now it takes.....I dunno yet, thats why Im posting
Bounty hunters get screwed over for this too.
I infact think that ccp are griefing me even more than that scumbag corp who camped me in aurohunen for about 1 week with 10bs, 23hrs a day telling me that they are not leaving till I leave the game. In the same way ccp are limiting my gameplay, maybe not as much, but enough to **** me off so much that id write a petition and make a topic out of it.
I dont want to stop being a pirate, I have been pirating and will continue to do so in non empire space away frome the eyes of concord and what they dont know should not hurt me.
So ccp, what are you going to do about this?
I do ofcourse expect the usual rants, raves and flames, so if you just put "XX" in the top left hand corner, I can then just scan past it and read and reply to the thought out replies.
P.S. The exploit thing in the header was just an eye catcher

The automatic security gain/loss system seems to be severely broken. AFAIK, once per week your security status should be multiplied by 0.95, pulling someone from 10.0 to 9.5, and someone from 1.0 to 0.95 (and the same for negative ratings), so that eventually you'll be very very close to zero.
I have yet to see my security status drop because of this.
Also, gaining security status by killing rats is incredibly tedious. Since Castor, I managed to raise my security status by a whole 0.1 points, from 1.1 to 1.2 - but only because I had 1.197... after Castor hit

Yes, this 5% per week was taken out after it was implemented for only 1 week, players complained that it was too much to loose from a positive ss (imo it was), but when looked at from the negative side it was way too little. Now we have nothing at all

I don't really think it would be too much Riding at the top of the security status lists should require considerable effort.
Instead, what they should implement, is meaningful security status raises from killing NPC rats. The current values are a joke, especially when you consider that only a single (the highest) raise from within 15 minutes is taken. It doesn't matter if you kill one pirate giving you 0.01 raise, or 100 of them - when you do it within 15 minutes, you will get a grand total of 0.01 raise.

Yes, plz put back the sec status increase.
And the number of NPCs you have to kill i huge.
I spent some time killing Gurista battleships, made quite some millions, and my sec status went up from 4.5 to 4.6.

The same problem effects the rating with pirate NPC corps. If you've killed that faction for a long time, but recently moved into one of their stations with a refining character, you're pretty screwed. I stopped killing that faction, even tried to get some missions with them, but until the 5% reduction kicks in and a long time passes, there is no hope.
At least you have the fast talk skill you can raise. Diplomacy has yet to be made widely available.

This needs to be fixed ...... CCP gave us the choice ..... miner, pirate, pirate-hunter etc etc but with the clear understanding you could "with a little effort" change paths .....
I'm sorry going from +.1 a day to ....
For killing blah blah blah you have gained 0.0000001% is beyond the joke ..."
Fast talk .... really helps ...... not
If CCP wanted to bring in a new system .... the logical action would be to clean the slate and not leave people on -5.0 without much hope ...

Tenacha, mayhaps the Dev's will start player events in unsafe space for people who CHOOSE to be pirates and thus cannot participate in normal "safe" events. I don't like pirates, but that should NOT exclude you from joining in some story-line driven plot quests. 0.0 might make for some incredibly fun story missions, as well as encouraging more players to explore beyond the occasional trip past the .5 security marker. The payoffs would be awesome too, imagine something like a beacon signal homing in from the depths of 0.0 drawing the curious to an abandoned station or derelict battleship? Just my 2 cents.

Anyone with a negative status for any reason is screwed at the moment. I was hoping that this 1403 patch would fix it but I guess thats too much to ask for. But hey we have the store now!

Edited by: McWatt on 07/03/2004 09:59:25 sec status needs a fix. i don t know why this seems to be low on ccps priority list.
to give sec status some meaning, progress shouldn t be linear at all. it should be difficult to get (and stay?) at either extremes.
wouldn t it be cool if pirates were proud of a -10 stat, instead of trying to avoid it?

Tenacha is totally correct in this view.
How can pirates or pirate hunter operate in empire space at all and by empire i mean 0.1 to 0.4.
Recovery from a negetive sec standing is non-existant at the moment. Who wants to kill endless npc rats for a sec rating increase of 0.0000000000000000000000001 every 15 minutes.
There needs to be a better system to uprate your sec status, perhaps by the use of agents in systems adjacent to 0.0 entry points. And using these agents comes at a cost. Sort of a criminal undergorund network.
Also at the moment what is the point of security status. It means NOTHING. Many pirates stay in 0.0 space and have positive ratings. Having a decent system to repair your security standing is a must for piracy and bounty hunting.
With a system in-place pirates would become proud of negative standings, and people could place more bounties on them. Also pirate hunters when killing a pirate in low sec space have a mechanism to repair their negative standing.
Basically CCP, we need a response on this. Your not Emu, so stop sticking your head in the sand.

My alt have a -1.7. Yester day i notised a increas of 0.0035%
I tested this out and started to kill all them small rats around the gates im traveling (and camping)
Yester day i had about some where between 10 to 15 increase of 0.0035% And my sec status increased with 0.1 :))) to -1.6
It seems like things are getting better. And im not sure it should be better then this (beeblebrox)
At least this is keeping me from killing everyting in 0.4 and waiting for the right targets. the hauler with good minerals or a good bs i can ransome.
PS: i tried to kill a 85k rat in a belt and the best increase i had was 0.1%

OK, here's how it works.
0.1% means that you just increased 0.001 Concord standing.
THE ONLY STANDING INCREASE YOU GET IS FROM THE BIGGEST RAT EVERY 15 MINUTES... not per rat. If CCP made it per rat (now that chaining is gone), it would work again.
I have killed about 500-1000 rats in Rancer and Carrou with my Omen over the past month. I have gained 0.06 security with concord.

Yes thats right. I did not say that my once 0.1% made my sec go from -1.7 to -1.6. I said that all the small rats and the few big i killed made it.
So i was able to move my sec with +0.1 with in a 15houer game play.

Edited by: Lord Armagon on 07/03/2004 15:29:13 Edited by: Lord Armagon on 07/03/2004 15:27:13 There are other isues thats bothers me with how you drop sec status in 0.1 - 0.4. Ill explaing with a example.
NICE_PLAYER is farming a spawn in 0.4. Then BAD_PLAYER warps in in his scorpion with a full intention of attacking NICE_PLAYER.
BAD_PLAYER have a low sec status and dont care if he gets a wee bit worce sec status. NICE_PLAYER have a good sec status and is a agant runer when he dont farm rats. This is why its importent for him not to drop sec status.
Both BAD_PLAYER and NICE_PLAYER lock each other. NICE_PLAYER dont open fire, he hopes that BAD_PLAYER dont attack him. Besides if NICE_PLAYER do open fire, he is the one geting a sec hit. While BAD_PLAYER can kill him and not get a sec hit at all. If NICE_PLAYER dont fire, he knows that BAD_PLAYERS scorpiong probably will target jam him, warp scramble him and kill him.
-----
The sec system is not working (im a pirate, but this is wrong for the carebears) We have the upperhand on all terms. We are fited for pvp, we have pvp experience, we can attack who we like and escape who we dont want to fight. We can make sure we dont fire before our NICE_PLAYER starts the show, or we can attack and make sure he dont escape.
Im not sure how things could be made better. But i think something need to be done.
just my two cents ...

I agree, I have a negative 6 in sec status, I've spent the last week killing npc's in .0 space (so it's mainly big rats) and my sec status hasn't moved an inch, a whole week of 3-4 hours non stop npc killing and I haven't gained a point, this imo stinks, the sec status thing should be a priority with ccp, not swinging around the nerf bat at every aspect of pvp ------------

But it was too much. To stay at your level of let's say 4.0 you had to spend the entire week killing NPC.. over 8 hours a day if some calculations that some people made serve me right.
And that was just for STAYING at 4.0, not increasing.
That was the madness that made everyone tell CCP to get that **** out of there.
The negative standing decrease should become effective again, 3 months is a long time.

Even though its a long time I think its fair, I dont wont pirates to get off easy with killing people. If it were less maybe more people would pirate and that is bad

CCP has a nasty habit of doing things without first examining closely how they will affect the gaming experience of all players.
While it shouldn't be a breeze to get security status raised back to zero, it shouldn't take more than a couple weeks to go from -10 back to zero methinks.

All I can say to Pirates who don't like the down side to BEING pirates is "Suck it up!"
Create an alt and quit whining.
One of the tasty bits of in-game-justice is that the bad guys can't pod people and then drive into Empire space to go window shopping. That's the path you've chosen and now you're paying the price. Live with your decisions or create the alt.

As the victim of an accidental missile collision with a friendly ship while hunting npc pirates I will say raising my sec status from -.03 sucks. And the whole buisness of only getting the sec increase every 15 minutes is a shame since you usually kill a whole spawn off in less then minutes.
Let people who want to work at it raise their security status. Everyone makes mistakes or get hits with a unintentional security hit.
The lower your security status is the harder it should be to raise it. The closer you are to zero the easier it should get to raising it. This will help stop the aggravation of getting screwed or making an honest mistake. While the players that have a low security status on purpose will have a VERY hard time if not impossible chance to get it back to zero (like it is now for everyone).
There needs to be a change for the better though,

You chose the life of a pirate the first time you ever ganked anyone in empire space or did a suicide run in 1.0 trying to get that indy with the all the good loot etc. Since when do you deserve to have a positive security status with the empire you always ganked?
You have no logic in making arguments for pirates having positive security status's. Me on the other hand with a -.03 screwed up one time and now I am kind of screwed for awhile. I dont go around choosing to be a pirate or whatever. I will work it off and make damn sure it doesnt happen again. You on the other hand dont care and will continue to attack people in .1 to .4 and not care about the empires.
Get off it and go in the corner and pull the plug.

Known criminals shouldn't be allowed into empire space no more than a newbie should venture into 0.0 space. Some might say it's not fair but I doubt the victims of pirates think it's fair to be killed either. You must have known your actions would have consequences, well here they are.
As for security level increases, it's been shown in the past that it's open to abuse. Players would kill some innocent miner then kill a few rats to get there standing back up then they'd kill again. This would be even easier now that NPC battleships are in the game. The system we have now at least stops that from happening.
