Personally I dont think you should increase sec status ever for free.
If you do the nasty deed the punishment should be a loss of sec status that you only can redeem by actual actions to repair that.
Sadly the devs have chosen not to go this way... say acording to me but hay its them who decide what is to be.
All this aside I think its silly that we cant increase sec status anymore, well not in rality anyways. Thus I hope they tweak the sec status increase so that a dedicated char can see the figure increase, it dosnt have to be a fast advancement but I would like for there to be one.

If it was this way from the begining of the game it would have been fine, it does not make sense and is not fair to do it now.
And before people start shouting its not fair for me to kill people, well thats a difference between players, which using game mechanics they could have stopped me from killing them.
In rl, on some laws there is a statute of limitations. Ill take******for instance as that has one of 20yrs I believe. If they want to remove the statute of limitations on rape, they have to put the bill into motion and it will take 20yrs to pass through. I know eve is not real life, God doesnt intervene on a daily basis like the way the devs do

I love listening to pirates whine. "I've been caught being bad and now I can't do anything fun because I've been caught. It's too easy to be bad and I shouldn't have to suffer because I'm bad."
I suggest you build an ALTERNATE character and take the time and effort to live the life of a proper citizen of EVE. Then you'll understand how MOST of us have decided to prosper in this game and why we find it so proper that you DON'T get to benefit from a positive security rating. I don't care if they EVER fix the sec rating scheme. I hope that CCP makes pirates have to create alternates to play on the proper side.
I have to emphasize that there ARE negative sides to being a pirate. Guess what? THIS is one of them. I've said it before and I'll say it again. SUCK IT UP! (God I'm having so much fun with this thread.)

Its nice that your having so much fun with this, but pls...dont post useless drivel.
You just sound like a griefing troll to me
Why should there be a negative side to being a pirate? Its just another part to the game.

This will be my last post on this topic.
I guess you just don't understand, so I won't waste my time trying to explain to you why there is a down side to being a pirate. (Everyone is laughing at you at this point anyway because of your last statement. It pretty much said it all.)
For everyone else that plays the game as a forum for social contact and recreation, not having to put up with guys like you is reason enough NOT to change the system one bit. We "Get it." It's absolutely hilarious that you don't.

Hehe, if it's that awful being a poor little pirate then why not become a carebear?
The fact is most non 0.0 miners make around 15k a minute, or about a million each hour. When you blow up my indy and pod me it costs me three hours of my time empty. If you blow up my cruiser and pod me it takes 10 hours of my time to repay that.
Since the minimum wage in Britain would call that ú45ish for that much time as you can imagine it annoys me.
As such I want it to be very hard for you, yet not so hard that you cease to exist. This is where the balance problem lies. However I really don't want you to ever be able to enter secure space without paying for your crimes.
It would be fair if you had to work for the same ammount of time at something boring just like miners have to , but even I'm not cruel enough to make someone else mine. As such it should be hideously slow and boring to repay a low security status, and that is what the current system gives

So stop your *****ing, if your gonna gank people in .1-.4 be prepared to spend some time at a BIG spawn or hunting for a while before you can go back to empire space. I can get HUGE increases by spending a few houirs at a 250/500k spawn...ohh and btw, i will get you back for squashing my raven....its only a matter of time hehe

Yes it will take you many days of continious npc hunting...is that what you wanted to hear? Bottom line.... if your ganking in empire space DEAL with it and stop whining, This IS a downside to going pirate...

That is not the point. the point is when i became a pirate the rules were one way, they changed em screwed em up, then took all gain/loss away because people moaned that the loss was too great to their positive ss.
Im sure everyone remembers the I hate castor thread which was posted 5hrs after castor was patched..well I have waited 3months. It was because of that thread the 5% per week was taken away

Wow we sure did get a lot of idiocy in this thread.
Tenacha Khan and his buddy are right.
This is a very stupid system we have right now and the old one was far far superior. The fact CCP has let this ridiculous situation stay as it is for so long is simply astounding.. I think a lot of people here are either roleplaying their hatred of pirates or really are pathetic enough to really hate all pirates blindly enough not to see the issue at hand.. Please people try to use your brains.

Tenacha Khan:
You have chosen to play the role of a pirate, by doing that you agreed to more than killing players, you agreed to live on the wrong side of the law, to become a fugetive and be hunted by concord and the other NPC "police".
You can not deny that you knew all this.
It is however true that sec changes atm only seem to be moving in one direction, true as VonKaplanek III pointed out you do actually increase sec status atm but for most of us that increase is so pathetically small it makes no difference.
This all does however not meen you should get a get out of jail card for free by simply playing the nice boy for a week or so.
In my opinion if you have done the deed you should pay the price, the fact that it worked in one way a few months ago dont meen squat. You know that eula thingie you agree to everytime you log in, if you bother to read it then you will find that CCP have reserved the right to change ANYTHING without warning, without reimbursing without having to consider out objections.
In reality they could one day decide introducing BS from start was a mistake and simply remove all the BS in the game. We have all agreed to give them that right by clicking accept.
It sux I know but its their game, all we are doing is renting time on it.
As for your coment about statute of limitations, not all crimes have such limitations, I belive murder is such a one. But wether or not it is that meens squat for eve, how much time has passed in eve since you comitted the crimes you currently suffer from? What are the durations for eve's statute of limitations?
Well atm its so high that it dosnt have any affect on your status.
Besides there is a skill that is suposed to be used in your situation, its called fast talk, I dont know how it works exactly but as far as I can gather it will over time increase you sec rating up to a max of -0 or close to it, I know that that skill is sold in 0.4 and lower systems and I have seen people with a sec rating of -4 in 1.0 systems not being hassled by concord so...
also on your post: Quote:
Why should there be a negative side to being a pirate? Its just another part to the game.
Where did you get this Idea? There has always been a price to being a pirate, its just that with the free increase in sec rating neg rating ppl got before is gone and thus the price has been made more expensive.
There are parts of this whole sec rating stuff I dont like ither, I had worked hard raising my sec rating to 3.4 before the patch, I lost 1.7 sec rating as a punishment for not having done anything wrong, that represented a few months of killing the bigest rats ingame at the time, it hurt.
I did not like that one bit but there was no point in whining about it, CCP altered somthing to get at those who got a joyride in the first month or so raising their sec status from 0 to 9 in just a few days.
Quote:
That is not the point. the point is when i became a pirate the rules were one way, they changed em screwed em up, then took all gain/loss away because people moaned that the loss was too great to their positive ss.
Again read the eula, if you dont like the agreement then push decline.
I dont want to be cruel but almost every single player on has at some time or other been given the shaft by CCP in one or other of the patches.
Tyrrax Thorrk:
Yes the current system is flawed, it is inzanely hard to increase sec status even if you chain BS's however the old system was flawed too, giving neg sec players a free sec boost every day will come back, CCP have stated this but I doubt it will be anywhere near the old levels, or atleast I hope it will.

What? How was doing nothing for 40 days just to recover from a single podding flawed? Seriously, please let me know.
There was a time when I operated in empire space, really pirating, locking people down, tolling them. It was fun. I had worked my way up to a decent CONCORD agent so I could hold my security status between -2.5 and 0.0. If I worked hard enough for my agent (many hours a day), I could afford tolling 3, maybe 4 people a day depending on how many modules I used. Everyone was happy. I even partipiciated in an event once, and won 50,000 isk or something. Hooray.
Then some nooblard in a Thorax comes along and attacks me, I fight back and end up podding him with missile splash (this was just after missiles had been made non-useless). Result: -6.7 security status, can''t enter my homesystem, can''t get to my agent. Options: do nothing for 40 days (and pay for it) until I can get back to my agent, or move. I decided to move and had no way to raise my security status anymore, so it wasn''t long until I was at -10.0.
Then security status increase was removed, and CONCORD agents with it.
I can't take part in events. I couldn't get to Crielere, even though Fatal himself could, all the way from Venal (stupid). I can't buy ships or certain modules, I have to pay insane prices to get them delivered to me (combined with the fact that pirating is the most risky and least paying occupation you can have) and even when offering insane prices, people most often refuse.
Now it's been many months since I shot at anyone in empire space, since 0.0 traffic is up and running. And by killing NPCs during this time, my security is up to an impressive -9.1 after killing gazillions of the biggest rats I could find (Battleship NPCs give the same security as cruisers by the way, around +0.000000001 per kill).
Passive security status increase should return equal to its previous form or FASTER. The current situation is nothing but ridiculous and I can't understand why it's taking so long to add back in.

Thank you, this truely needs to be looked at. I've been at -1.4 forever. Even though I can still enter all of the systems, it's just good to be on the positive side. However, currently that's impossible.

I think it should be fixed as well. I also think that there should be a 3 strikes and your out rule in empire space. The way this would work is simple, you kill 3 pods of people with 0.0 or higher sec status and you get a permenant -10 status. That way law abiding citizens wouldn't have to worry much about you guys who want to ruin other peoples game play.
Of course, I think it would be poetic justice to make this retroactive, so if you have ever killed 3 pods in empire space you would be perma set to -10.
...ok ok, the retroactive thing is a little over the top, but really people, why should you EVER be able to fly around in empire space. I mean under my rules you are a mass murderer. 3 pods = 3 people = mass murderer.
You should never be able to come to high sec. Having to pay people willing to take a risk to deliver your goods to you in low sec space, inability to participate in high sec events, inability ot enter a system without everyone running for the hills...what do you find wrong with this? I know I'd be running for the door and screaming for police protection if ***** Bin Laden walked into the local McDonalds while I was ordering my kids a happy meal. (well ok, in reality if he entered I'd be heading for my glove box to cap his ass for the reward money, but there would be cops there soon enough)
Come to think of it. Once you are perma set to negative security status, perhaps you should have perma bounties on your heads. If you commit so many atrocities that you are banished, perhaps you should get a bounty. maybe related to the ship you are flying though. That way if someone destroys you in your BS and pods you they get say 1M, but if you just fly out in a pod for a friend to shoot you you only are worth 1k. Also, make it so the same person couldn't collect the bounty on you more than once in a week. And by also tying it to the ship you are flying it would prevent pirates from taking advantage of this bounty system. if it is always more costly to pod you than you will gain in reward money, the bounty system is fixed.
This would totally fix the sec status system imoho. You could get rapid increases and decreases from most actions, but podding (or even mass ship killing) a certain ammount makes you forever a target of concord, and open season from all player/bounty hunters...forever.
Of course, what you pirates are really looking for is a way to pod people in empire space again. This has nothing to do with events and such, it has EVERYTHING to do with getting no consequences for your actions. Imo, there should be swift, and permenant consequences for your actions.
(note: the only reason I say 3 pods instead of one, if the splash damage from missiles, it would suck to make a mistake one time and be forever banned, if you give them 3 strikes you are not going to have people accidentally banned over one mistake)

One of the tasty bits of in-game-justice is that the bad guys can't pod people and then drive into Empire space to go window shopping. That's the path you've chosen and now you're paying the price. Live with your decisions or create the alt.

I got an idea how to make this better...
Add new veriable named Reputation.. you gain reputation if you kill someone with negative reputation.. and you lose it if you kill somone with positive reputation.
Pirates would have then negative reputation and pirate hunters positive. Miners and traders would have reputation ~0
If you kill someone in non-empire space.. your security status wouldn't change at all. So you'd have negative security status only if you cause trouble in empire space.
