Originally by: Mina Morticia So I'll have to purchase a new card? Or a new PC since my PCs power supply isn't strong enough to power any of the listed cards?
You will be able to play EVE even without a new card, just without all the new shiny content. To enjoy that, you indeed need a new card.
Originally by: Mina Morticia Is the new graphical content mandatory? Or will only certain features be supported by those cards?
No it isn't mandatory. If you don't have it, you will just be using the "old" models (the ones that are on TQ now) _______

I love the look of Trinity Premium, With HDR on it looks wet and delicious. Too bad FSAA and HRD doesn't work yet.
I noticed the same with extreme shadows.. seems to tank going from normal/high to extreme where high works perfectly fine. I was also able to apply AA with HDR by manually forcing the "00000045: Oblivion (AA & HDR)" Anti-Aliasing compatibility settings in nHancer.
I'm sooo going to the AA/HDR thing when i get home. Got a link to a guide or something to do this? Originally by: F90OEX It should be better FPS since its not a DX10 game where talking about here....
DX10 or 9 has nothing to do with how calculation heavy a game is... Try setting the shader quality to high instead of extreme and watch your FPS increase _______

Originally by: CCP Redundancy Extreme shadows uses a 4096x4096 shadow buffer for rendering shadows, which in itself is around 200MB (iirc) of video memory, and means that you're rendering something 17 million pixels of shadow buffer information per ship. The option isn't "high" or "highest that should run fast", it's "extreme".
I do not recommend it for standard gameplay.
6 FPS with 20 ships... thats 20x4096x4096x6= 2 013 265 920 pixels per second for shadow maps only... Dang video cards are FAST these days...
Thanks for including it anyway, should be awesome for making the screenshots we all play EVE for _______
