You may petition for a new name. Please make sure the name you choose is neither offensive, nor taken already. You'll find our naming policy here: http://www.eve-online.com/pnp/namepolicy.asp my alt name was Doctor Rectum so i was browsing the naming policy page to find out if my name belong to some of the offensive names group. from CHARACTER NAMES part, section B i was able to find the full definition for what called "offensive names list" here is the list: Quote: Be obscene, vulgar, sexually explicit, offensive, hurtful, harmful, promote drugs, profane, anti-*, and ethnically, racially or sexually offensive or impart any real-world hostility toward a specific nationality, race or religion. now ill try to find which part of my old name was "offensive" 1) Doctor after a small google search i was able to find a nice definition for what is and where it is come from: Quote: Doctor (title), a title of respect. It comes to English from Old French and is the agent form of the Latin verb docere, "to teach". and i cant find Doctor to be part of the offensive names list. 2) Rectum again after small google search for the word rectum i found a nice website that give a description for the word: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rectum Quote:** The rectum (from the Latin rectum intestinum, meaning straight intestine) is the final straight portion of the large intestine in some mammals, and the gut in others, terminating in the anus. At its commencement its caliber is similar to that of the sigmoid colon, but near its termination it is dilated, forming the rectal ampulla. also here i cannot find any way how Rectum can be associated with the offensive names list. many eve players around the systems allways use to tell me how my name is "Cool", "Awesome" and so on... so please help me to prove "EVE SYSTEM" that Doctor Rectum isn't an offenceive. i really liked that name and i really want it back. thanke you

They're identical every single time, in every single game: A young player, usually in their teenage years, makes a character with a "hee hee giggle giggle" schoolboy humour rude name. It usually involves body parts, excreta or sex. In the most childish cases it is a name that's truly offensive - racist or worse. Surprise surprise it gets changed by the powers that be. Said teenager then proceeds to come onto the game forums and post complaining about it. They always attempt to justify their teenage toilet humour name by accusing others of being "fragile" and "immature", as if they are the grown-up one because they're not offended by bum/willy jokes. You are by FAR not the first teenager to do this, nor will you be the last. The choice that faces you is this: Do you learn from this and deal with it like an adult or do you continue to whine and pout and act like a child? Being a teenager you are on the cusp between adulthood and childhood. I don't see the connections he's making, but alright... w/e. I honestly could care less about a name unless it is intended to be offensive (got an eve buddy who keeps a list of very funny/offensive characters in his bio), and I find it more immature to petition someone on something so trivial than to learn to deal with diversity or people who (god forbid!) have a sense of humor. ____________________ Hi. Ok, that was just a joke from me, maybe a bad one. I have no problem with that name of yours, i don't feel offended by that kind of names at all. Peeople could call themsef Dr S Uckmywhatever for what I care. I do understand however why CCP changed it, why they cared.
