Originally by: Pecunya I have a 8800 GTX on Windows XP 64 with the latest drivers. Although "Splinter Cell 4" does give me AA whereas "Oblivion" does not, my FPS goes down from 60 (with VSync) to 8! So back to no AA but high FPS .
Tried to lower your settings ? tried without VSync ? tried AA4x AF4x, AF trilinear optimization ? What AA method do you use and did you have HDR enabled ? Multisampling is the best for performances afaik and HDR is a FPS killer.

It should run with high AA settings and not too much performance loss. But I have it working now: 16xSupersampling AA, 8xFA, HDR with "HL2" compatibilty. "Oblivion" doesn't work at all, "Splintercell" gives me AA but kills my fps, but "HL2" compatibility seems to do the trick.

I kinda have the same issue in regards to AA not working.
I have 8800 Ultra running on Windows Vista x64 I dont see any difference between AA/AF 4x4 & AA/AF 16x16Q. the fact that im running it on Max Res the game supports you still see alot of jagged edges.
I dont know if the game it self doesnt support AA or what? its like the game Ghost Recon Advanced War Fighter where the Dev's deliberatly disabled AA since they noticed that the game litteraly uses more than 512mb Video Memory when AA is enabled.

So heres the deal, it seems, after about a dozen restarts.
- Full screen, required - Oblivion compat flag works with HDR and bloom, but may create some weird artifacts in some of the shaders (specifically, stars seen through your cloaked ship after you jump into a system create visual incorrect flickering effects) - Splinter Cell 4 compat flag works, but only if you have HDR turned off
pick your poison, I guess :)

None of these tricks seem to work on my computer.
My specs are: C2D 6700, 2gb DDR2 (800mHz) and Nvidia 8800GTX 768mb (with newest drivers).
Does anyone have any other ideas.

I have exactly the same grafics card as you, and I'm getting the same results here; none of the tricks mentioned here does not work at all. I see no change ingame.

The workaround using nhancer stopped to work after upgrading to nvida forceware version 175.16 I was not able to reactivate AA+HDR using any compatibility method. Can somebody confirm?

I haven't tried nhancer or any of that, but with HDR enabled and all the settings maxed and stuff, I can confirm that driver level forced AA does not work on a 9800GTX on 175.16.

I can confirm that AA will not work with an 8800GT no matter what settings are used in nHancer with the newer drivers. I have yet to try the older version of the drivers and cannot since there are driver specific optimizations in the new drivers I need for other games. What really needs to happen is CCP needs to support AA natively in Eve-Online. The only reason they wouldn't be able to do this is if they use deferred rendering due to DX9's limitations. Though DX10 does support AA with deferred rendering, Eve is not a DX10 supported game. It would be nice to have the option to disable HDR and use in-game AA. This would be a better method than forcing AA in the driver anyways because it is much more efficient.
Please add native support for AA.

For those saying they can't get AA / HDR to work with 175.16 drivers, are you using nHancer v2.4.1 released May 10th 2008 ?
Quote: Support of Forceware/GeForce drivers version 60 and later, including the new 174+ versions
It works ok for me with 3 x 8800 GTX's in SLI. Although I'm not convinced I have the best optimization yet. ~38 fps @ 1920x1200 with 16x AA is the best I can get so far.
It's a pity CCP haven't put some AA options into the game setup menu. Not everyone is inclined to spend hours tinkering with 3rd party driver tweaks and will be seeing pretty nasty jaggies despite having paid for decent graphics cards.

Possible fix for the recent problems with nhancer 2.4.1 and nvida forceware 175.16
Trieds some settings in nhancer again and when selecting "Anti-Aliasing Compatibility = AA+HDR" it finaly worked! I Applied those settings while i had the fullscreen eve client minimized. When i maximized it again the effetc was visible. Man i dond know why i did not triy THIS setting earlier ...

I partially solved crash problems during the gameplay, but I have still these errors (nHancer helped me,but NOT completely because sometime I crash anyway):
http://img209.imageshack.us/my.php?image=immaginefb7.jpg
or with python.dll, blue.dll, ect.
I need everytime to relog my pc to play again. I tried 1000 times to install again the client but nothing..I have it anyway. (Do not suggest me to download the client with download manager pls :) )

Edited by: Reeno Coleman on 04/06/2008 12:23:20 gf 8800gts, vista 32 nHancer works for me, AA+HDR if
- i disable my 2nd screen - run the game in fullscreen - i disable the nhancer option "enhance in-game AA setting" - dx9 compat set to HDR+AA - dx10 compat set to general
sucks anyway =( i need my 2nd screen, stoneage has passed ;) please work on native aa support
edit: forgot to say: supersampling as well as 8xQ and 16xQ Multisampling crashes EvE, combined sampling works (wtf?) but slow as hell.
