I cannot be arsed reading 7 - 8 pages or searching forever. I have been away so not even started to download patch - simple question is this problem been fixed? if cant cant get confirmation then sod it will play something else till fixed.

I had a reply from a Dev (cant find it again doh) that all problems of download have been solved with the patch. I hope you dont mind if I say I am not convinced and I for one am not downloading this patch untill I get some cast iron gurantee that it not going to screw up my oporating system. I share this machine with my wife and children and I could not even think of the grief I would get if I screwed it up - or should say if CCP scrwed it up. So I will be playing other games for some days until this stuff has been solved. I am seriously questioning why I am paying money to a company that could treat it's customers with such lack of care.

Some people call this problem "a bug" - if this was written by some spotty faced 14 year old it would have been called "a virus" come to think of it a spotty faced 14 year old could do a better job .
This is not a "bug" it is shame faced careless behavoiur and treating fee paying customers with total contempt. It means bugger all in the great scheme of things but I for one am seriously thinking that this is the last time CCP get my cash.
I have played online games for over 15 years and this is the worst example I have seen of blantant carelessness. I have had servers die for weeks, I have had patches that dont work, I have had patches that make me loose items, I have had patches delayed for over 6 months - I have never ever had a patch that could totally destroy the abilty to use my machine. At work we have more firewalls and protocols than you can poke a stick at and I dont work with highly confidential material - why? to stop crap like this happening. I have searched around and cant even find an apology from anybody in CCP (well anybody in CCP high enough to have some level of real responsibilty).
Words fail me, anybody who knows me faints.
I dont want compensation I want HEADS - I want to know that I am paying money to a competent provider who cares about me its customer.

But all the Devs on the forums are saying do this - do that and the sky is sunny. CCP wake up a wave of protest is about to hit you like you have never seen before. I hope you have a good bank manager to cover the debts this will cost you in lost customers - bye off to work

Of course they will compensate us - like I believe in Santa Claus - get real.
I am pleased to announce that I have not downloaded the patch and until somebody can give me some guarantee that it will not screw my machine I am not going to. I don't care anymore that I cant play I would rather not play Russian roulette with my machine thank you very much.
Can you give me a reason to trust CCP again with their code and my money?

Why oh why do people accept such **** poor service from CCP - if you bought this patch in a shop you would take it back as broken but we get people coming on here making excuses for faulty goods. Totally amazing !!!!!

You clearly live your life inside Eve not in the real world. Bet you did not suffer like others in this thread. You lost the bet by the way I for one have stopped playing due to this **** up. You want my PayPal account to pay me my winnings? Backups are made but why should I trust my computer to CCP - they have a track record of screwing up only so long you can listen to apolgies before you walk away.

There is a couple of basic flaws in the arguement from people who have suffered from the major screw up - you think CCP and others who were fortunate not to suffer major grief even care.
We get an apology from CCP - grudging and many hours after the problem occurs. We get people coming on here calling other NooBs and idiots for not donig back-ups etc etc etc etc.
This is going to take CCP ages - if ever - to over come. It is very clear that CCP quality assurance department need to be given the sack very quickly. I will not be downloading this patch as it is very clear from other threads they have yet again made a total arse of it and not listening to people who test the thing eg implants, POS (list too long).
I will continue to read and post but CCP are not getting my custom till they come clean on this issue and an apology is not enough - explanations are needed.
