Originally by: Thargat Lulz... you peepz suck (and I don't mean CCP). I installed it on 3 machines this morning (or yesterday) with the so called faulty patch and I didn't have a single problem (yes theyr all XP ones) my boot.ini files are all still there so I'm not sure who's been affected (maybe only users who run admin accounts and don't have locked bootfiles/bios boot restore, unhidden and unprotected system files and stuff).
I guess there are those of you out there who ain't computer freaks and don't understand jack about software, but when installing ANY software on your machine you should know that there's always a risk.
I don't blame CCP, but I DO blame microsoft... this should NOT be able to happen in XP.
um yeah, you realise there was a certain time window after which the patch files were fixed?
A computer genius that cannot read a clock. I own a T2 BPO and have a Capital alt. Please hate/troll/smack me.

Originally by: Demarcus I feel bad for CCP, this has the smell of pending lawsuits.
Impending frivolous lawsuits. This isn't the first time by far that something like this has happened in the gaming industry. They acted promptly and such situations are covered in the EULA that everyone has agreed to. If people are thinking about causing completely unnecessary trouble, they might as well save themselves the time, they don't have a legal leg to stand on.
Examples? Please post them or STFU.
I would like to compare the customer service from previous incidences such as these.

Pool of Radiance. The initially pressed disks would cause the game to uninstall system files when the game was uninstalled http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pool_of_radiance#Pool_of_Radiance:_Ruins_of_Myth_Drannor
Final Fantasy XI also had a patch that caused systems to go down I believe
Either DAoC or EQ, I forget which. A virus had infected the patch server, and a trojan was being doled out with the patch for a good. Fortunately it was caught quickly and few were infected.
So kindly, please, STFU yourself.
You are a master debater.
None of your examples have any proof of any error generating patches like this one. A wiki article? I read the 4 major bugs that were all solviable by uninstalling the game.
Your last 2 are comical, especially in the third one. You cannot even pinpoint the problem to an actual GAME. I own a T2 BPO and have a Capital alt. Please hate/troll/smack me.

Edited by: mishkof on 07/12/2007 00:35:30 I have another way that I juyst confirmed worked without a boot up CD.
All it required is 15$, the boot file, and access to another computer for 2 minutes.
you will need a USB 2.0 to IDE/SATA adapter kit. I used A product made by Bytecc
Take out your hard drive hook it to the USB converter then plug it into another computer. Take the new Boot file and drop it directly into your system files folder.
If anyone has any other quyestions about this method Mesage me in game. No software knowlegde needed, juyst the ability to remove your hard drive, and the abilituy to plug in a USB device.
