Well joy for the nerf it was needed ... but
Ive never seen a thread asking for a nerf for arazu / lachesis , know why ? Because they were balance, they weren't over powered nor underpowered ... they were just right.
The damps for nerf have indirectly effected these two ships because there bonus really isnt enough to compensate for the nerf so basically CCP has nerfed a perfectly balanced ship.
I think the bonus should be put up to 10% or 7.5% per lvl to make this ship cabiable of shutting down 1 non-sniper bs to about 5-10k (it could always shoot close range gun ships as the arazu / lach pilot would be using range scripts)
At the moment this ship has a 0% chance of taking a non-sniper bs out of the fight with its ewar, at least the falcon / rook has a CHANCE.
SO yeah buff the bonus up to 7.5 % on damp specialized ships (incl the new electronic attack ship)
This isn't a whine its the truth so my flame suit is in the drawer.

Yeah i know but tbh damps did need a nerf .. i just dont know why CCP didnt relise that they had to buff the specialized ship when they nerfed the ewar ... i mean they made all new grfx why cant they balance stuff properly.

Edited by: Alex Harumichi on 06/12/2007 11:10:33 Yeah. Damp nerf was needed, but the specialist ships should also have been buffed to compensate (same goes for tracking disrupters and curse/pilgrim).
Celestis/Lachesis/Arazu aren't much worth flying now, sadly enough. You'll at most be able to hinder one ship, while with a Rook you'll be able to totally lock down 2-4 ships. No contest.
Until this is fixed, dedicated EW pilots should just switch to ECM and Rooks/Falcons/Scorps.
Making damps weak on normal ships = good.
Making damps weak on specialist damper ships = fail.

It's about money guys.
CCP makes a decent ship.. you train for said ship, CCP nerfs it to oblivion, and if you want to remain competitive you train for a new ship (Instead of flying the same ship for a long time and eventually cancelling your subscription). So CCPs strategy is they make skills take months to train then every few months they nerf your previous few months of skill training to uselessness and then they present to you a shiny new amazing skillset you can train.
AKA: Gallente ships were good, people spent a year training gallente, now CCP say "Oooh look go train Caldari" and nerfs all gallente ships while giving Caldari a huge unneeded boost.
Watch out Minmatar, you're next.
And Amarr... yeah.. CCP doesnt really need you to do the nerf bopping so sit tight, theres no end in sight.
And the to turn my post into a troll: Stop complaining about the curse, its fine. Pilgrim kinda sucks though.

Yup totally true, maybe 1-3 targets a rook can with relative ease (bc - bs) and before the nerf a lach could totally shut down (appart from 5k where it could still defend itself) 1 bs outa the fight for the whole fight ( same situation so could a rook )
And yeah pilgrim and curse need the tracking disruptor buff (not that they were usefull BEFORE the nerf)

In line? No they're not. And as for people using recons.. Have you been to 0.0 like... ever?
CCP nerfed damps by over 50% (when I felt they were balanced on gallente recons before. Note I think that them being as good as they were on other ships was ridiculous though).
CCP also introduced 5 ships that have scrambling range bonus, making the arazu/lach effectively useless.

No lol arazu and lach were never overpowered,
Huggin / rapier - Very effective nano ships deal decent damage almost impossible to catch without another huggin / rapier. Nice web bonus, good target painter bonus so they can insta pop intys with arty.
Rook / falcon - Very effective ECM boats. Can shut down many ships at once with ease. Good damage.
Pilgrem / curse - Can nano up good. With drone bay increase they are a little better for solo pvp. Can own cruiser / bc size ships. Tracking disruptor's sorta suck. Effective at stopping nano ships in there tracks.
Arazu / lach - Very usefull warp disruptor bonus. Can nano up good. Good damage. Damps now suck on it.
So as u can see arazu and lach have been put in line with the pilgrim / curse (even worse because a pilgrim / curse would own a lach / arazu pilot quite easy)

Oh yeah i forgot that other ships have been introduced with warp disruptor range bonus ... so basically the other role for gallente recons has been shadowed.

Yes.
A rigged Lachesis, with scripts and high skills, can hinder one battleship ("hinder" because it can only drop the range down to 15km or so, once the bs is closer than that then it locks like normal, since there is no longer any lock speed effect).
This with high specialist skills, damp rigs, and a ship specialized for damps.
Compare to Rook, which can 100% disable 2-4 ships (depending on eccm, skills, ship type, etc).
It's just sad.
The Lachesis/Arazu/Celestis damp bonus needs to be boosted (and the Amarr tracking disruptor bonus likewise).

You know ECM is chance based, do you? Rook can't 100% disable even fraking frig with 6 dedicated jammers, rigs and high skills.
Arazu is still capable as a combat tackler or as a dedicated jammer.

But you dont acctually get that the arazu/lach doesnt even have a CHANCE at shutting a bs totally down ... its got a useless ewar ... it would be more effective useing a ECM settup i can guarntee.
hmm,
Highs - 2x 200MM II , 3x Heavy missile launcher IIs Mids - Large cap battery II , ecm stuff x6 Lows - Things that make ecm better Rigs - 2x CCCs
Drones - 5x light ecm drone w/spares.
That setup might just work ... infact it will be 200% better than its own ewar at the moment.

so what you want is a ship that can disable targeting plus scram 100% if i disable something in my falcon thats all it can do, the arazu has two ew roles not just one!!!!

it is exactly this kind of foru whining that has cause the damp nerf in the first place, if people didnt over use and train FOTM then the endles nerfcyle would come to a stop. stop crying becos ur ship got nerfed its EVE it happenes every patch to someone, the rook and falcon get nerfed the pilgrim and curse go nerfed, what makes you think ccp would leav alone a ship that is bein abused a sologankmachine when it is intended as a RECON ship. the less whines ppl make the less nerfs we will get.

Honestly, having a 40K point on Rook sitting 250km from enemy fleet is not really a big difference, this same point in a fleet engagement will not do a lot of difference too since you have a lot of scrambling power, btw a rook/falcon being able to shutdown safely 2 or 3 ships is a big difference... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Edited by: General Coochie on 06/12/2007 19:04:52 Lachesis and arazu are now the worst T2 cruiser hands down. There isn't another T2 cruiser thats worse. It doesn't mean that they are useless you simply rather fly something else. I rather even bring a thorax to a gang with EWAR drones as it would deal more DPS have better tank and be of more annoyance then a fully skilled rigged T2 EWAR boat.
The introduction of increased warp scram range on other ships even further make these ships less wanted.

The nerf WAS needed but it's a little too much. tbh lachesis will still be very usefull in fleets and arazu in small skirmishes. It's the same thing that happened in the previous patch with pilgrim (which is now kinda useless even for griefing due to caldari bonuses) and curse ( which is still ok for small skirmishes tbh).
I'm sorry, did I say u could speak ? |
