Same issue here. No engine, weapon or in station ambiant sound. UI, Warp, Eve Voice ("Warp drive active") and Music can be heard fine.
Soundcard = Creative SB X-Fi with latest drivers.

Fixed mine guys, had the same problem, no weapons sound, no engine sound, just warp and UI... all you have to do is screw with all your audio settings in game, even though non of mine were at zero (which is why i didnt really adjust them in the first place) i cranked em all and then clicked off and on all of the ticked boxes, was in a fight and suddenly all weapons fire sound came back...
Hope you all have the luck that i did

In case you guys didn't know, the devs purposely removed the sounds in trinity so that the game could be more realistic. Because sounds waves can't travel in vaccum (space).

I have the same problem, no engine sounds and it's so silent in the stations. My missiles firing also sounded odd. I have an onboard chip, Realtek High Definition Audio with the latest drivers installed. I didn't have this problem before and when I switch back to Classic everything goes back to normal. |

I have the same problem with engine and at least some station sounds, maybe all stations. Not that it makes any difference, but running X-Fi here.

Same here, i've got jump, warp and turret sounds, but no engine. The jukebox also stops completely sometimes, seems mostly when i use an accelerator gate or dock on a station. Station doesnt have sounds either.
Audio card is a Sigmatel audio, from a Dell inspiron 9400.

I'll add my voice to the list of the ignored, what the hell.
Intermittent sound drop outs. The bad ones are the targeting sounds (as in "you're being locked!") when you've got a market or chat window up.
WTB fix and/or acknowledgment of the problem. --

No intermittant ones like the above thank goodness, but the engine noise is definitely missing. I do appea to have some ambient noise in stations, though - just nowhere near as much as I did pre-Trinity.
Personally, I can live without them. I would seriously want to kiss the dev who could kill of the "howling wind" noise in asteroid belts, though.

Any devs wish to comment? Is this your fault or should we be tearing our PC's to bits to find a solution? You have about 20+ people with same problem.

Edited by: Haeli Rhoakhana on 11/12/2007 13:54:21 Ugh, I've just fixed my crash problem now this!! For gods sake this game is buggy as hell, I'm on the trial and I've had nothing but problems! 2 days left as well.
I get no sound when creating a new character. No engine sound etc.
Has anyone found a solution yet? I might just give up with this game soon, devs please post!
EDIT: I don't think mine is a realtek card either

The Rapier used to have a very distinctive engine sound which is now gone! Very noticable when you exitted warp.
As has the funky green engine trails (maybe this was an intentional nerf to my Rapier )

Me too I've not got long left on my trial and from the little bit I've seen so far I think I could like this game...but it's unplayable at the moment. I might leave this for like a month or something, then come back when they've figured out what is wrong with the new patch.

as mentioned in thread, disabling and enabling sound and fiddling with sound setting seems to fix prob for that session for me. Next time i log on its broken again though.
(its actually quite calming having virtually no sound, when you are being hit from all directions by missiles you tend to not panic as much hehe)

Sorry, but I just want a kind dev to reply here and acknowledge the problem, then I'll shut up and wait for a fix
Unless someone has found a work around? No engine sound bugs me.
Thanks.

Having the same problem... I noticed several people have an X-Fi... as do I. My engine sounds don't work, weapon sounds usually work(sometimes don't), and music cuts out after heavy combat. I updated my sound drives to no avail!
