Same here. I don't get the sound affect for engines (though I do get warp sound).
The sound also cuts out after the first two seconds of each mining laser cycle.

Got that to. The warp and the ui sounds are the only ones that can be heard. I got onboard nforce 4 with latest drivers.

Everything is fine on mine except the mining lasers... All worked fine before the update so I blame that

I'm having this problem too, it is really very annoying. The only sounds I hear are from the UI and warp. If someone knows a workaround please help us.

Onboard Sound - Asus MB with a NVIDIA 4 Chipset.

Ditto. No in-station sound effects either. If there are that many users affected I am sure they are working on it.

It seems to me that more than just engine sounds seem to be missing from time to time. A noticed my missiles and the sound they produce go out of sync every so often. Sometimes I even get invisible missiles too! And everytime I warp to deadspace the background music stops playing. I think I'm gonna still with the old client.
