Edited by: Crexa on 11/12/2007 21:22:29 That star is the pre-mature brightening of Jita just before the implosion, and subsequent supernova, forming a massive blackhole. The light has just taken this long to arrive at the systems you are seeing this from.
And around this new blackhole, are singularities by which the Jovian hordes have come to purge the unholy places...

i have also noticed it appears smaller, and larger in some systems, makeing me think it must be somewhere off the grid and not show up on the map, so the only other thing i can think of is anyone with a jump drive try and jump into the general direction of the star then get a fast ship or probs(dont know if you can still use them to jump x au's) if you do this from a few diffrent systems someone ought to find it?

I also noticed this, I found it several times brighter in the drone regions than in Perimeter.

Won't read 11 pages atm, but here's some of my ponderings:
The star appeared in all systems at once, so it can't be a brief or sudden event as the light would take thousands of years to reach the whole of EVE. This assumes physics wasn't ignored _completely_ though.
So we're dealing with a phenomena that is either _close_ or has _persisted for a long time_.

Nexus: The Jupiter Incident. Nexus is probably referred to alteast a few times a month, because the graphics in the game are spectacular, even though its kinda old by game years, its still comparable to today. The game was very good, although 100% Linear.
Edit: Not as old as I thought it was, wiki says 3 years Nexus

Out galaxy, which we call "The milky way", has billions of stars of wich alot are binary/trinary stars of millions of different sizes. In fact the closest star system to our own is a trinary system if I remember correctly. Binary stars
Next to that there are billions, if not trillions, of other galaxies... wich on their turn also orbit/move/collide with each other... It's beyond your imagination.
And then my on topic contribution, I think the most reasonable explenation at this time would be either of these, sorted on how likely it is. - Second star of the star system, as stated it is said the gates only work in binary systems deu to reason, go look em up. - Other backstory event - Christmas event - Comet (wait... what?) - A second wormhole/gate (this would be awesome)

That by the looks of it, is an Energy Bomb (Artillery) in "Nexus: The Jupiter Incident" an SF strategy game. (Mostly about small fleet combat) Personally i think that's a small one, i can remember some of those things literally whiting out your screen for a second or 2 as they detonate unless you were zoomed out a long way. You only get a handful of shots with the things but they're great at busting shields or shredding hulls (depending on the type used)

ok, lets triangulate its position everyone!!! with the amount of ppl interested in this matter it could be very easy for us to know if it is indeed inside the eve galaxy so we may be able to warp to it, ya know we can do it with at least 2 or 3 directions taken from very far away positions, stop asking and lets point it out once and for all!!

The light you see is coming from it's H.O.O.V.E.R. II module.
